If you’ve not seen last night’s episode of Heroes, I don’t know that you need to “run” and see it, but please walk to see it at some point because though its not a super charged must see episode, it is good filler. Focusing only on a handful of our favorite Heroes, Chapter Fifteen does not propel the main storyline much but it still provides some great entertainment.
Claire’s Mother is suffering from headaches and the hardest part of the whole situation is watching Claire remain silent while HRG acts like nothings going on. HRG confronts Claire about her forged Aquarium tickets and grounds her. Fed up with the situation, Claire calls her birth mother Meredith and eventually runs away from home when she learns that Meredith’s been in touch with Claire’s birth father, Nathan Petrelli.
Firestarter told Flyboy that she met their daughter. It was a double whammy for Nathan because he didn’t even know Meredith survived the fire 14 years prior. At first you think Nathan’s the scumbag when he asks Meredith how much she wants to make this all go away but quickly you realize their both scumbags.
Meredith agrees that $100k would make it all go away and then she later tells Claire that Nathan wants nothing to do with her but he can help by giving her $25k, half of what her Father’s willing to give. Um, you sneaky pyro douchebag! Unbelievable – you’re scheming your own daughter.
Claire shows up on Meredith’s tin door expecting the Father to help both of them and to kinda be their savior but Meredith lies and tells her that he doesn’t want to meet her and that he can only help them financially. Nathan shows and is very wishy washy. Firestarter doesn’t really disuade him and Claire hears the whole interaction. Nathan leaves and Claire throws a rock at his car.
When Claire returns to her home in Odessa, she finds that her Mother is completely losing it. She doesn’t recognize Claire nor her beloved Mr. Muggles! Poor Muggles.
In Vegas, Ando and Hiro meet up with Missy Pyle’s sad sack showgirl Hope. Ando thinks this is his destiny based on what Hiro mentioned prior and agrees to help her get her belongings back from her abusive boyfriend. Dressed as bellhops, they break into the boyfriends hotel room. Hiro finds guns and other weapons and bails but Ando chasing his destiny decides to carry out the plan. Hiro runs into a now composed Hope who’s telling someone that she conned two “Chinese” guys into stealing the bag. Hiro confronts her, gets locked in a cooler while Ando delivers the goods to Hope. Too bad Hope’s crossed them both and convinces Ando to leave with her. Later the abusive boyfriend shows up and lets Hiro out of the cooler. He’s a federal agent with the gaming commission. D’oh!
Back in LA, Niki receives orders from Linderman to kill his old collegue, that pudgy man we’ve seen blackmailing both Niki and DL. Apparently this is how she’ll really repay Linderman. Guess who’s in charge of guarding Pudgy? You guessed it, Parkman. Long story short, Parkman and Niki end up in quite the gun battle. Niki and Jessica argue and possibly split? Matt’s thrown out a window and Pudgy gets snapped in half. Parkman steals the 2 millions dollars worth of diamonds that Pudgy traded the money DL gave him (Linderman’s money) weeks ago.
Here’s my question. Did Niki and Jessica end up in that building at the same time as two separate entities? First she was trapped in the mirror, then we saw Niki in a stairwell reflective sign but then towards the end both Niki and Jessica were in the stairwell arguing… in person. What the hell? I didn’t think much of it until later in the episode when one of the versions, either Niki or Jessica was in a different outfit. Are they both on the loose now? Did I completely miss something? I was watching it at 1am so its possibly I missed something. Help.
The last storyline involved Suresh, Sylar, and a new guy with powers named Zane Taylor. Taylor can liquify objects. It’s pretty creepy and its right up Sylar’s alley. Suresh receives a phone call from Zane asking for his help as he’s freaking out with these new powers. Before Suresh can get there, Sylar arrives, impersonates Suresh and steals Zane’s powers. Poor guy.
When the episode ends, Suresh asks for a DNA sample, Sylar swabs the dead Taylors mouth and offers to help Suresh track down the other heroes. Bad news y’all.
Overall, not too bad but it didn’t really advance the story much. Sylar made some progress in the big arc and I guess we learned more about Parkman, Claire, Firestarter, and Flyboy’s mental states but I feel like we were cheated a little bit. They’re pumping us up so much with this someone flies, someone dies business. I want non stop action and that’s where we were at last week so this episode lost a good amount of momentum. Next week looks amazing again! Fingers crossed.
