The Man From Tallahassee, holy shit! I don’t know if I’m a sucker that loves LOST blindly or if this show really is as amazing as I think it is but hot damn… THE MAN FROM TALLAHASSEE!!!
John Locke is a tragic figure, one that I’ve loved since Day 1. He’s kinda like Col. Tigh on Battlestar in that he’s an old school hardass. Unlike Col. Tigh though, I love John Locke! He’s very flawed. He’s a wounded puppy. He’s insecure and abused yet unbelievably strong willed and determined in his new skin.
I’m not gonna lie to you, I was in awe at the levels of hell Locke’s Dad once again put him through. I mean, he’s already given up his fiance, his dignity, his sense of self, and his kidney now the man takes his ability to walk? That’s rough. I guess we don’t have to worry about him winning Father of the Year anytime soon. HELLO!
LOST once again did it to me… I cried this week. Not like a sobbing bitch or anything but I’m not gonna lie, I got teary eyed twice. Locke has just gone through so much over the last three seasons that it really pains me that mor than anyone we’ve seen this man’s spirit die and be reborn again only to be once again taken away with the final reveal tonight! It’s a really heartbreaking story and this island really does mean salvation for Locke. It’s a place where he can walk again, he can be more of a man than he ever was in real life and a place that offers him glimpses into humanity that give him hope and faith. It’s quite amazing what this island has done for him and its touching to see how different his real life was from his island life.
That’s why it pains to see that one of the biggest things the island brought him, escape, came crashing down tonight when Ben showed Locke what that big box of an island brought him… HIS DAD! The Man From Tallahassee that Ben refered to earlier in the episode.
