I watched both episodes back-to-back last night. AMAZING!

Jensen hit one out of the ball park - this kid can act. (Which makes me heart him even more)

This was the perfect denouement. There is nothing more frustrating than a show that drags storylines out forever (hello, Lost and Heroes - I'm talking to you). We have some resolution and new problems to conquer. No sophmore slump for our Winchester boys - in fact, it was a stellar season all around.

Thank you Ducky, for all things Supernatural on your site this season.

Next up - SAVE DEAN WINCHESTER!!!

I pretty much hate Route 666...and it has nothing to do with Dean's relationship with Cassie, though it was the actress I had a problem with. I think, quite often, the show's weaknesses are the girl-of-the-week actors, I know there have to be better female actors in Canada than what they're able to come up with sometimes. I know this girl has been on 4400 and many other shows (VM included), but her painfully forced acting and reactions to the town's history of race problems were terribly distracting. And the killer truck? That should have been the monster-of-the-week in a comedic episode. It didn't fit with the intensity of the rest of the plot.

Roadkill I didn't so much hate, it was just one of the weaker episodes. It has nothing to do with Tricia Helfer, she was a welcome exception to my girl-of-the-week complaint. I didn't see the end coming and was pleasantly surprised by the plot twist. But it just couldn't make up for the other 40 minutes of Sam sitting around and talking incessantly and Dean jumping in every once in a while for comedic relief. The overdone stereotypes of their characters throughout the episode really bothered me.

Well, here is pretty much the extent of my complaints about Supernatural...they are few but felt strongly. Otherwise, you know my lusty, drooling love for Dean and Sam and everything else Supernatural.

Wait, Emily are you saying that you didn't like Route 666 and/or Roadkill? Route was not great but I really really liked Roadkill (and not just because of Tricia Helfer).

It is a little sad that YED is gone but I agree that it was wonderful to actually get closure without changing the direction of the show. Next season will continue with the same general feel and tone and purpose. Plus, now more than ever they have a mission to complete. SAVE DEAN WINCHESTER!

Supernatural has to work really hard for me to dislike an episode (hello Route 666 and Roadkill) and the finale lived up to all my expectations of Kripke and the boys. You pretty much said it all above...Jensen was at the top of his game (allow me to be shallow here and say that the fact that Jensen and Jared shed real tears makes me swoon ever more!), Sam totally channeled possessed Sam and killed Jake, Bobby is terrified of losing Dean and Sam since he's already lost John, his best friend, Ellen can actually be really vulnerable, and I'm a little sad they killed the YED just because the actor who played him is seriously kick-ass. They did a really great job of letting Dean and Sam come to some kind of resolution with their quest (with John and the YED) but also giving them a new mission that the audience can feel invested in.

I think it's really interesting how many of the new shows this Fall are supernaturally oriented. I'm sure this has more to do with Heroes than say Smallville and Supernatural, but I like the trend and hope it sticks around for a while.
