PSYCH Recap
Season 2 – Episode 2: “65 Million Years”
Recap by: Mel
As usual, we open in 1987, where Mini-Gus walks into the classroom wearing a gigantic, hollow T-Rex head that he made. And since he’s, like, 8, you’d probably think it’s all ugly and messy and paper-mache-y and, like, brontosaurus-shaped, right? WRONG. IT’S PRETTY AND T-REX-SHAPED. I love Mini-Gus. Mini-Shawn made -ahem, more like bought- a T-rex, too, which is like eight inches tall and strapped to a remote-control car, and everyone forgets about Mini-Gus. Sad.
Present day, and Lassie is staring down some dude who finally confesses, and apparently this is his eight billionth confession in a row and all his po-po compadres are way proud of him. By the way, Lassie’s first name is CARLTON. As in The CARLTON Dance on ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’?! HA! Remember when they broke William Shatner’s tooth, and Carlton was all, “Don’t worry, Captain. We’ll get you to the dentist, WARP SPEED!” I love Carlton. Anyways, Shawn is feeling cast aside, and hits on Jules some, then follows Lassie to a crime scene on the beach. He sees the puncture wounds on the body, and does his spazzy and constipated psychic schtick, drawing a surprisingly well-shaded and happy-looking T-Rex portrait. Lassie, Jules, and Chief pretty much ignore him, which makes me a little sad. Segue to Gus, WHO IS VERY AND I MEAN VERY UPSET WITH SHAWN, and refuses to accompany him to the morgue to view Dead Punctured Guy.

As you know, Comic-Con is this coming Thursday and the following week I’ve got some traveling to do as well. That means lots of time on airplanes. To be exact, there are 4, 5 or 6 hour flights in the next two weeks and I need something to watch!
What Show Should I Download From iTunes?
- Psych (Season 1)
- The Starter Wife
- Bones (Season 1)
- Jericho (Finish Season 1)
- Kyle XY (Finish Season 1)

As of today, July 23rd Harry Potter himself, actor Daniel Radcliffe is legal. Let the worshipping begin. Good lord, not so tweens just got excited and NAMBLA members just went limp.
The boys had a busy couple weeks. World Premieres of HP5, the release of Book 7, and a Bday on top of it. Hope that $50 million for the final two movies bought him some good times this past weekend.
I’m loving the new Harry Potter but please do not post anything about it on here. I’ll cut ya, put a hex on ya, send Looney Lovegood to your house, or assign Kreacher to you. I beg of you.

This weekend, TVGuide’s Pooper Scooper Michael Ausiello got to sit down with SUPERNATURAL Creator and Exec. Producer Eric Kripke to hash out some of the online rumors that are spreading.
It all began when casting of two female “regulars” was announced. Fans freaked the frak out! How could Kripke introduce two “love interests”? How can they mess up the dynamics of the show? How could they, how could they, how could they? I didn’t think anything because I wanted to know more about these girls. Who are these two women coming to possibly temp our beloved Winchester boys?
Ruby (played by Katie Cassidy) is a demon hunter who’s a bit of a loose cannon. Bela (love the name btw – played by Lauren Cohen) is a sort of demon arms dealer. She works in amulets and other magical trinkets on the black market.
So, what does Eric Kripke have to say about these girls and what does he have to say to all of us rabid fans?
Eric Kripke: First of all, I love our fans. I love them to death. I love how passionate they are. But they tend to worry unnecessarily. They tend to get stressed before they have a chance to judge the finished product. We are so conscious and aware of our fans. We’re making the show for the fans; we’re not making the show for the network. We would never do anything to betray them. I’m not saying we’re perfect. I’m not saying we don’t make mistakes. But we’re very conscious and aware. And when we do make mistakes, we course-correct. So if I can get any message to them, it’s, ‘Don’t worry. We’re making choices based on what’s best creatively for the show.
Kripke: …The trick, we feel, is to introduce them as fleshed-out characters with their own inner lives, and then see what develops. And the other thing is, the girls are very separate and very different. And very rarely are they in the same episode, because they’re each serving very different story lines. Ruby (Katie Cassidy) is this demon hunter, who is ruthless and a little crazy and rough around the edges, and doesn’t share the same moral conscience that either of the boys share. A little unhinged in that way. There’s going to be a big twist about Ruby very early on. As early as Episode 2 you’re going to learn something very fascinating about Ruby.
And what about Bela?
Kripke: Bela (Lauren Cohan) is actually something we never presented on Supernatural before, which is someone who lives in this world who actually isn’t a hunter. She’s a thief and a mercenary. And all of these amulets and magical objects that the boys are always stealing and using to fight creatures are actually worth a lot of money. And there’s someone to buy and sell them. And she’s really not interested in the altruistic or obsessed or revenge-minded motives of hunting. She’s interested in a free-market economy and making a buck. She’s in it for herself. That’s someone they’ve really never come across before. ‘I don’t really care if you stop that ghost, I want that amulet,’ which if she disappears with it, the boys are screwed.

Here’s a sneak peek at the Comic-Con exclusive PUSHING DAISIES Comic Book cover. As you know Pushing Daisies is the best new show of the fall season, I’ve proclaimed it so and I don’t lie. Often. In this case, I’m def not lying.
I’ll be attending Comic-Con next weekend and cannot wait to get all the gossip and scoop from the Pushing Daisies panel, and this comic-book is just an added perk.

DAMAGES premiers Tuesday, July 24th on FX and I have 4 words for you all. MUST SEE FRAKKIN’ TV! This is not your parent’s procedural or crime drama; DAMAGES is an intense, involved, smart and really dark psychological thriller.
Glenn Close heads up the stellar cast which includes Rose Byrne, Ted Danson, Tate Donovan, Zeljko Ivanek, Casey Siemasko and more. Ruthless barely scratches the surface of how you would describe the high powered litigator Close plays. Patty Hewes can be compared to Meryl Streep’s sinister Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada but in doing so it almost weakens the character of Patty Hewes. Yeah, she’s that hardcore.
DAMAGES is a legal thriller set in the world of New York City high-stakes litigation. The series, which provides a view into the true nature of power and success, follows the turbulent lives of Patty Hewes, the nation’s most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator, and her bright, ambitious, protégé Ellen Parsons as they become embroiled in a class action lawsuit targeting the allegedly corrupt Arthur Frobisher, one of the country’s wealthiest CEOs. As Patty battles with Frobisher and his attorney Ray Fiske, Ellen Parsons will be front and center witnessing just what it takes to win at all costs, as it quickly becomes clear that lives, as well as fortunes, may be at stake.
That’s the description the network has released for the show. What it doesn’t tell you is that the Frobisher case is only the tip of the iceberg. This will not be a case of the week show. There is a central case with a very dark overarching mystery tied into every character on the show not to mention the high profile Frobisher case.
SPOILERS AHEAD
