Well it’s the last weekend of the summer and I’m off to the Great White North for a mini-getaway. Nothing says celebrate a United States holiday like spending said holiday in Canada. I’ll be in Montreal for the weekend, visiting those waydowntown and those speaking french. I so don’t speak french.

While I’m away, don’t forget to watch every episode of AMC’s seriously amazing MAD MEN on Sunday. Monday is an all day marathon of KYLE XY Season 2 over on ABC Family. I promise, on Monday – the Season Finale (of Part 1, Season 2) – I’ll get the rest of our interview with Kyle XY’s cutie Matt Dallas up. Read Part 1 now!

And if you’re not interested in watching television (what are you crazy), head on over to some of these blogs for some end of summer reading.

HEROES World Tour hit Toronto and TheTVAddict was there and covering the event with full force.

Tate Donovan is an actor that has been around for over 20 years. That’s long enough for me to have had a little boy crush on Tate back in the day… the SPACE CAMP day! Loved him more than words and it’s been fun to follow his career since. A few years back he nailed the role of Jimmy Cooper on The OC and currently he’s doing some of his best work on FX’s dramatic thriller DAMAGES.

Here is the interview from earlier in the week with Tate, and it saddens me that I didn’t get to ask about SPACE CAMP, working with super hot Kelly Preston, young Joaquin Phoenix, and Mrs. Steven Spielberg. Alas, he was fun and I hope you enjoy the interview.

Tate Donovan Interview Damages

Question: How has starring in a high-profile series with super popular Glenn Close rubbed off on you? Has it affected your life and/or career in unexpected ways?

T. Donovan: Working with Glenn Close is a fantastic experience. You have to bring your A game when you work with Ms. Close. She’s really well prepared. It’s actually really a joy, because she asks the director and the producers the best questions. Every time, she’s sort of like, “Well, hold on a second. Why is this?” She was asking about the plot, because it’s very confusing to everybody, exactly what’s going on in the case, since we’re not really lawyers. She’s very inspiring in terms of just the questions she asks, and you’re always going, “Geez, I wish I had asked that question,” like “Why does Frobisher do da, da, da, da, da?” Yes, she’s wonderful, a total inspiration.

Question: The writing, the characters are so nuanced in Damages. There is no clear-cut bad or good, just all sorts of shades of gray and in between. Your character, Tom, is for the most part, an on-the-level guy, but are you hopeful that the character will veer into the dark side more or stay more above the fray and above all the machinations that Patty has up her sleeve?

T. Donovan: What’s kind of exciting about Tom is that he, like all of us, we’re just trying to do the best we can and we’re trying to succeed and trying to do well. I think he lacks that killer instinct. Patty has it in state. She’s a genius. She knows exactly how to go in for the kill. Tom, I think he wants people to like him more. Patty doesn’t care; she just wants to win.

Somebody who wants everyone to like him generally gets into trouble, so I imagine Tom, like everyone else, like every other character, he has his moments of selfishness and his moments of greed. It’s funny; a lot of people are like, “I can’t believe, you’re the worst kind of evil. Your character is the worst, because he’s a nice guy and he’s evil.” I don’t particularly see him as evil. I see him as just a guy who is trying to survive in a pretty cut-throat environment.

According to E! and ThePieMaker.com, JAYMA MAYS will guest star in the 4th episode of ABC’s spectacular PUSHING DAISIES.

Jayma Mays Cast on Pushing Daisies

You’ll probably remember Jayma best as Charlie, the girl Hiro couldn’t save on last seasons’ HEROES. You may also recognize her as Henry’s girlfriend Charlie on Ugly Betty.

Let’s call this when Charlie met Chuck. Jayma Mays will play “Elsita, a woman who leads a life of windmillery (she lives and works in a windmill)” – sounds perfectly odd, and perfectly Pushing Daisies.

KIM KELLY gets work again! Oh wait, she’s on ER but noone watches that so… Kim Kelley is my friend again!

Busy Philipps as Kim Kelly

Scooper Guru Ausiello is reporting:

Busy Philipps has been cast on How I Met Your Mother as the hottie who may or may not end up in the sack with Ted… and his hit-and-run fling, Trudy (Danica McKellar, the Wonder Years cutie, thankfully all grown up).

As you may recall me telling you in a recent Ask Ausiello, in the Oct. 15 episode, Trudy is ready to go another round with Ted, but a new rival has already staked her claim on him — Trudy’s old college frienemy, to be played by Philipps. So things could get heated in one of two ways: There could be name-calling and hair-pulling or clothes-ripping and sheets-tangling. (Either way, Ted’s one lucky mother.)

Though Philipps is likely to fit right in with the How crowd, don’t expect her to stick around beyond this pre-sweeps installment. Ted’s pal Lily gives the sexpot the big thumbs-down after realizing that she’s the shopper who ruined her shopping trip by walking off with a pair of coveted boots.

I really love me some Busy. She reminds me of my old friend Kelley C. from back in the ‘cuse. Ever since Freaks and Geeks I’ve had a weakness for Busy Philipps. She’s bitchy and unconventionally hot and seems to like the gays. We’d be freinds, I’m sure of it.

I think putting her on a episode of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER will be hysterical and this October episode cannot come soon enough.

Big Brother 8

Well, it had to eventually happen America – AMBER the crying all the sudden Jesus freak has been evicted from the BIG BROTHER 8 house. I’m happy and sad, kind of like knowing that unicorns poop marshmallows - but that they poop at all is sad, ya know?

Amber or Whamber as Rae calls her has really been a great treat all summer. I’ll never forget the time she didn’t know what cynical meant or what cheese meant or when she outed her family as racists or when she said she was a lying drug addict. Good times! Sadly I think that she will have a really hard time going back home and facing her family and boyfriend after all the marbles she’s spilled.

In other news, after a week of actually thinking Eric might be a contestant I can root for, yeah… he went and ruined that. The way he took over Jessica’s HOH and bossed everyone around from not-his throne was really obnoxious and could be detrimental in the game. He went back to being a slime ball, and that’s not suiting.

Jessica has really stepped up her game and honestly I never once thought I would like her but in the last couple weeks she’s really grown on me.

I can’t even imagine how this week will play out. Its such a critical week in that house and it’s going to get ugly. I love it!

Only two more weeks of Big Brother 8, sad…
