Gossip Girl on The CW

GOSSIP GIRL hit the ground running right where the pilot left off. It’s the morning after and everyone’s still reeling from the night before. S feels like she needs to make amends with B. Dan thinks he needs to apologize for being a dweeb at the end of his date with Serena (I mean, how funny was the door slam then lame wave?). Jenny wants to solidify the train she’s got moving into coolsville and Chuck just wants to get laid. Shocker, GG’s back… did you miss her?

The opening scene is wonderfully sweet and playful and sassy and everything I love about this show. Dan Humphrey is officially my new psycho TV crush. Where I was a little wobbly at the sight of him, I’m now full on gob smacked and drooling in his presence. He’s charming and cute yet reluctantly gallant and humble. Oh and can we talk about the loft they live in? Killer with the garage door walls. Lastly, the Dan/Jenny dynamic is precious.

I’m also loving the other brother and sister relationship, that between Serena and her suicidal brother. There’s just a really nice and natural chemistry there and while I sometimes feel Blake Lively is stretching to be a highschooler, I never feel as if she’s stretching for truth in her performance. It’s evident that she’s got some skills when you watch her and her little bro verbally ping pong their way through recent events.

GOSSIP GIRL 1.02 - Blair Texts

Blair is a full on Cruella. She’s so insecure, hurt, and threatened by Serena’s return that she masks it with some of the juiciest diva lines this side of Nicole Julian on Popular. Her willingness to keep Nathan in her pocket is admirable yet sickly weak. Sure after finding out that the love of your life, your longtime BF slept with your longtime BFF, had to hurt but if we’re to feel any sympathy for your B, don’t be so needy.

Probst is a hard working man and this year CBS is putting his hosting skills to the test even more so than they already are. Ducky brings you a special preview of SURVIVOR:CHINA from host Jeff Probst.

Ryan Murphy, the genius behind the short-lived but always brilliant POPULAR and that other show you may have heard of, NIP/TUCK has a series committment from FOX for his new show QUEEN B.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

The network has handed out a series commitment to “Queen B,” a female workplace drama from “Nip/Tuck” creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy.

The project, which Murphy co-created with “Nip/Tuck” executive producers Richard Levine and Lyn Greene, is being produced by 20th Century Fox TV. It stems from the rich multiyear deal Murphy inked this year with FX, 20th TV and Fox (HR 2/16).

“Queen B” is described as a modern-day workplace drama that breaks the glass ceiling, creating a world where women call the shots. It centers on a brilliant but ruthless woman who takes over a worldwide conglomerate as a CEO and corrupts a young girl with power by making her the exec’s right-hand henchwoman.

GOSSIP GIRL is seriously my biggest obsession right now so I thought I’d share the promo for tonight and a clip from tonight’s show entitled “The Wild Brunch”

BONES Recaps With MEL
Episode 3.01 “The Widow’s Son in the Windshield”

BONES is one of those shows that I never watched but always wanted to. I loved Buffy/Angel so I had an attachment to David Boreanaz but when it premeired 3 years ago I just didn’t have room in the primetime schedule. Luckily MEL who did PSYCH recaps for us all summer wanted to write up Bones. I hope you guys enjoy it. Also, let us know if you want the recaps to be longer or not. Mel’s just wondering how much you’ll all want to read and discuss. So, comments would be appreciated. Take it away Mel!

How excited am I that Bones is finally back?! So frakkin’ excited! It was a great episode, too, what with the cannibals and the interesting new hair styles and the new/recurring characters and the Booth/Brennan love and such.

The season premiere takes place three months after the second season finale, and Zach is just now getting back from Iraq, with a new crew cut to boot. The guy who took his place, Clark, is super bummed, but everyone else is ecstatic. So, the main mystery this week circled around a secret cannibalistic society, which was pretty interesting. The case wasn’t actually solved, and I think this is supposed to be a serial killer case throughout the season, which I’m pretty excited about. The closest we got to that was the Gravedigger and (sort of) the on-going storyline about Brennan’s father. It should be really interesting to see where it goes, and how it’s handled by the writers and actors. Also, the Angela/Hodgins/Angela’s husband story line is shaping up to be pretty funny. Cam (whom I absolutely loved in this episode) tells Angela to hire a private detective to find her husband so that she can annul the marriage and get hitched with Hodgins. It should definitely prove to be quite entertaining, so I’m fully looking forward to that.

On to the character moments: this episode was chock full of them, and I frakkin’ loved it!! When Angela confronted Brennan about her avoidance of Booth and the field, I was really touched- the friendship between those two is fantastic. And just the fact that Brennan REALLY opened up to Booth and explained why she hasn’t been around him as much (she blamed his for Zach’s departure) shows such a huge leap forward for our intrepid girl anthropologist. There was a time not too long ago when Hell would’ve frozen over before she’d been so truthful with Booth. Like the true soul mates they are (come on, you so know it’s gonna happen) they hashed it out, and shared a really sweet moment over coffee at the end of the episode.

So what’d you guys think of the episode? Any likes? Dislikes? Loves? Favorite lines? My personal fave: “Zach would’ve told me.” Oh, Booth.

Tonight is when your television wants to explode. It’s too much, Wednesday’s are just simply too much. Let me pose a question to all of you out there. How do you watch 3 shows at once? How do you possibly try to watch your returning faves and the newbies and have a life and a relationship and whatever when there’s so much quality television on these days.

The shows that in a perfect world could be watched are as follows: AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, GOSSIP GIRL, PRIVATE PRACTICE, BIONIC WOMAN, DIRTY SEXY MONEY and TOP CHEF. Next week it only gets worse when ABC adds my favorite PUSHING DAISIES but Top Chef drops after next week’s finale so there’s a free hour.

I’m dropping one or two shows from my schedule, have to… no way around it. This is when reality kicks in and says, “STOP WATCHING TELEVISION.” I’ll iTunes something to watch on the subway to and from work but I haven’t decided which 9pm show that will be. Bionic Woman will drop off iTunes in December (if its even added by NBC) so that could cause issues but I feel that is the one to go. When will the other networks jump on the ON DEMAND bandwagon like CBS has? That makes life easier as well. Come on now!

Here’s what Ducky’s watching tonight:

America’s Next Top Model Cast Picture: Cycle 9
8pm – America’s Next Top Model has their Top 13 working a anti-smoking ad campaign which will surely be non-modely but I don’t care because I love the show.

Gossip Girl on The CW
9pm – Gossip Girl’s first non-pilot episode is called “The Wild Brunch” and I can only hope it lives up to the hype.

Dirty Sexy Money, ABC Cast Photo
10pm – Dirty Sexy Money will finally introduce the world to the Darlings! I heart the Darlings!

Also Premiering Tonight:
Criminal Minds (CBS)n
CSI:NY (CBS)
Deal or no Deal (NBC)
*New Show: BIONIC WOMAN (NBC)
*New Show: LIFE (NBC)
*New Show: PRIVATE PRACTICE (ABC)

Apparently Harmony hasn’t found her Blondie Bear yet because MERCEDES MCNAB will be guest starring on the November 15th episode of SUPERNATURAL!

According to Michael Ausiello:

The Nov. 15 episode ought to be a treat for Buffy/Angel fans, and not just because it’s vampcentric, either. Mercedes McNab — the scene-stealer who played dumb blonde Harmony on both shows — has just been signed to guest as a toothsome chick who recalls for the Winchester boys the night she picked up more than a hangover while out clubbing.

Rejoice Harmony fans, rejoice! I can only hope that someone has a hissy slap fight with her, preferably in slo-mo. God, that Xander/Harmony fight still makes me as giddy as a school girl.
