Heath Ledger is Dead at 28

From CNN:

Actor Heath Ledger is dead, the New York Police Department said Tuesday. Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment.

The Academy Award nominated actor was 28.

Ledger’s housekeeper found him dead in his Manhattan apartment, New York police said. He died at 3:26 p.m., they said. The New York Fire Department received a call at 2:27 Tuesday responding to a “cardiac arrest call” in New York. They found an unresponsive male dead at the scene.

Wow, that was unexpected. He wasn’t even someone I had in my ongoing Office Death Pool! Britney, Winehouse, Tara Reid, Lohan, Greasy Bear but not Ledger!

So sad.

I hate that the media goes right to “drug related” in these circumstances. Sure it may very well be but to mention that first and foremost is pretty insulting. If this is drug related I can’t help but ask why on earth people do drugs? Did no one listen to Nancy Reagan back in the ’80s? Did no one listen to their parents? Did no one learn from Kurt Cobain or hot ass Michael Hutchence?

He was a good actor, he seemed like a good father, and he was fine to look at. With his portrayal of The Joker in the new Batman film, he was poised to become a huge box office bread winner as well. So this is pretty shocking.

Here are a couple clips from my favorite Ledger films. The first is from 10 Things I Hate About You and it’s the scene that makes me cry like a baby everytime.

Next, we gotta go Brokeback baby!

And finally, his creepy turn as The Joker in The Dark Knight:

Gossip Girl on The CW

Hello Upper East Siders, I just received the following message from Gossip Girl herself. It appears that we’ll be able to relive the adventures of S and B, Nate, Chuck and those Humphrey’s all over again, from the beginning! They’re moving to Monday’s at 8/9c so mark it in your iCal. Apparently you’re not going to want to miss out either because The CW will be airing never before seen footage as well as cast interviews to make the gossip that much juicier!

Here’s the 411:

The CW Network invites die-hard fans and new viewers to catch the hit freshman drama GOSSIP GIRL from the very beginning with a special, 90-minute GOSSIP GIRL REVEALED, on Monday, January 28 (8:00-9:30 p.m. ET), hosted by the stars of GOSSIP GIRL and featuring the series premiere as well as exclusive, never-before-seen bonus material.

In addition to airing the pilot episode in its entirety, The CW will offer an enhanced GOSSIP GIRL experience to passionate devotees and the uninitiated wanting to see how the phenomenon began. During the broadcast, viewers will go behind the scenes for in-depth conversations with TV’s hottest cast, including Blake Lively (“Serena van der Woodsen”), Leighton Meester (“Blair Waldorf”), Penn Badgley (“Dan Humphrey”), Chace Crawford (“Nate Archibald”), Taylor Momsen (“Jenny Humphrey”), Ed Westwick (“Chuck Bass”), Kelly Rutherford (“Lily van der Woodsen”), Matthew Settle (“Rufus Humphrey”) and Jessica Szohr (“Vanessa”). Additional bonus material includes never-before-seen footage from the series, profiles of the players and the wannabes in the GOSSIP GIRL world, featurettes on the GOSSIP GIRL fashion and music, and much more.

In the following weeks, The CW will air all of the GOSSIP GIRL episodes in consecutive order every Monday!

Sounds like fun!

Supernatural 3.09 “Malleus Maleficarum” - Jared Padaleck (1)

*Updated Jan. 22, 2007: Below is the most up to date schedule for the final 4 episodes of SUPERNATURAL. Note the episode swap for 3.11 and 3.12 (and the toss in of a repeat for good fun).

I’m really glad that so many people have been willing to send emails to the CW urging them to support our favorite show, SUPERNATURAL! The comments I’ve received have all been positive and even more of you have personally emailed me so I thank you for being demon hunting activists.

I’m happy to bring you the final 4 Supernatural episode airdates and titles! The show returns much sooner than we expected, sadly it’s going up against my favorite castaways of LOST.

Episode 3.09 – “Malleus Maleficarum1/31 (See episode pictures here)
Episode 3.10 – “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” 2/7
*Episode 3.11 – “Mystery Spot” 2/14 (originally “Jus In Bello” was to air on the 14th)
*Repeat: “Nightshifter” 2/21 8/7c (originally aired in Season 2)
*Episode 3.12 – “Jus In Bello” 2/21 9/8c (originally filmed as 3.11 but will air as possible finale)

Once again, The CW has not canceled SUPERNATURAL it has removed it from the schedule once their last original episode has aired on February 21st. It’s still upsetting that they won’t allow the show to continue to grow new viewers by airing more repeats.

Does Terminator Suck or Kick Ass?

While I’m really enjoying the kind of cheesy fun of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I can’t help wonder if others are as well… and why (or why not)! I think it’s a fun continuation of the film series and that overall it’s kicking some serious action ass for a television show. I like the ruthless nature of the Terminators and last night’s blood bath (literally) was so great! But at the same time there are some hardcore cheese factors that bring the series down to a level of crap like Hercules or Cleopatra 2525 (Summer Glau, I’m talking to you). I’m torn.

*Update: I added some thoughts into the comments section if anyone cares.

So what do you think?

Juno Nominated For Academy Awards

I totes forgot that the Academy Award Nominations were being announced this morning so I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon them a couple minutes ago. Huge “Shit Yes” to JUNO scoring in all the major categories. Best Actress, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay! Loves it!

I still need to see some of these films but the ones I want to win so far are in BOLD below. I have to say that I’m disappointed in not seeing Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones alongside Javier Bardem for No Country.
