Buffy’s Tom Lenk

One of my favorite characters from the Buffyverse is sexually ambiguous Andrew. Tom Lenk’s portrayal of Andrew was nothing short of genius and it saddened me to see he wasn’t going to be on the panel tonight. To me, Andrew was a huge part of the final seasons and he really brought so much levity to the show that I thought he deserved his due.

During the post-panel signing I spotted Tom in the crowd just milling about. I went over and introduced myself and asked why he wasn’t on the panel. He said that he wasn’t a series regular and more importantly, he wasn’t asked. So he attended the panel as a fan and to see all of his writer friends from the show.

That pissed me off in a way. It’s not like he was one of the nameless/faceless Potentials. He was Andrew, part of the trio, a man not afraid to admit his love for Patrcick Swayze…

I don’t have anything else to say about it other than it annoyed the shit out of me because I thought Andrew was a perfect addition to the show and one that actually survived the finale so he deserved his due.

Regardless, I was overjoyed to get the chance to meet Tom Lenk and to let him know that he kicks frakkin’ ass!

I loved Andrew on the show, sexual ambiguous or not he was hilarious, and I loved his transition from so-called villain to part of the Scoobies. I got a chance to met him a couple of years ago when I went to see one of his improv shows (hilarious by the way) but it wasn’t until last night I finally got to take a picture with him! (Unfortunately now my camera is messing up and I don’t know if I can get it off there onto a computer) but he was a heck of a nice guy. Very cool that he showed up just for fun and to hang out.

That’s sad that Tom wasn’t included in the panel … he was awesome as Andrew, first as part of the Evil-Doers, and then on the side of good.
