SYTYCD Shocker: Comfort Fedoke Replaces Jessica King
Posted by: Ducky in Ducky Does TV, So You Think You Can Dance, So You Think You Can Dance Season 4, SpoilersWow, so much can change with So You Think You Can Dance when the show stops on Thursday night.
This just in: Jessica King has injured herself and will be out of the competition for up to 5 weeks! Last week’s eliminated contestant Comfort Fedoke is back in as the 10th finalist.
wha-wha-wha-what? That would have made everyone happy if they just left it at 9 finalists… everyone wanted two girls gone last week and this would have solved the problem. I could have done without Comfort, how about you guys?

Talk about WTF!
I don’t see why they couldn’t have sent two girls home last week. The last two guys dance together, why not do it sooner. I really liked Thayne and thought he got the shaft.

WOW! I just read this on the Tvguide.com blog and frankly didn’t believe it. Came here to verify. Although I like Comfort, I’m not so sure about bringing her back. I mean, least week Nigel wanted to get rid of Comfort and Jessica…so, weirdness. Hmmm, this will be very interesting. So, does that mean that Comfort is now in the Top 10 and Jessica will be the alternate? How things do change.

dammit! I meant ‘last week’. Don’t know if people are as persnickety about spelling here as TVGuide.com. Seriously, if you have half a brain you can figure it out.
but just in case….

Oh, sa-nap! That means that Comfort will dance with Will this week???? WOW, the mere X-Filesness of this is bizarre.
July 14th, 2008 at 11:35 am
journay2, remember that starting this week the couples are pulled at random, so its highly unlikely that Comfort will end up with Will. We’ll find out tonight when they perform and I’ll have the spoilers up first thing in the morning as usual.

I can’t believe they’re going to bring her back, it was definitely time for her to go last week. Oy, poor Thayne. He deserves to still be there, she doesn’t.
Random Thoughts:
1.) I am obsessed with Bollywood and need more of it. STAT.
2.) Will needs to join Alvin Ailey and be done with it. Think he and Debbie Allen are doing the nasty??? I’m starting to wonder…

Jess – the imagery from your number 2 thought is too much!!! Pass me the brain-bleach!
July 14th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Ducky, thanks for the reminder…I forgot the ‘random games’ begin now. Still should prove interesting. If she pulls off a spectacular routine I wonder if they’ll keep her or still send her packing?

Kristi, I’ll see your ‘brain-bleach’ and raise you a lobotomy…the very idea chills

fyi:
…Lythgoe said that U.S. laws prevented him from elaborating on the exact nature and magnitude of Jessica’s injury, but said that Jessica would do so herself on Wednesday night’s episode. (Lythgoe also let it slip that Courtney would be paired with Joshua this week.) (from the TVGuide.com site).
some people are speculating that Jessica suffered some sort of breakdown…I don’t know. I think it is more likely a physical injury. Regardless, she’s out for at least 5 weeks. I wish her a speedy recovery…and I hope Nigel feels a little bad about beating her down…

Ha! Pretty sure Will is gay but I can see Debbie forcing herself on him. These are the thoughts that pop into my head while watching. Not normal.

Hell to the NO! Say it ain’t so! Poor Jessica. I don’t think we’ve seen an injury this bad with the top 10. Just goes to show that this is such a grueling competition. I wonder how Comfort will handle being booted off again this week.
Hey Jess — I am obsessed with Bollywood now, too!
I wonder what other world dances they can bring into SYTYCD. Polynesian? Russian (besides Pasha & Anya’s cha-cha)? Japanese? Oh, the possibilities.

journay2: You hope NIGEL feels a little bad about beating Jessica down? How about Mia with her comments about how Will must be tired of her and how he needs a new partner. While I don’t think Jessica is one of the strongest dancers, Mia was just plain mean. I love me some Mia, but she needs to stay off of the Paula Abdul juice.
I’m not happy that they brought back Comfort, but it would have messed up the coupling. Plus, there is some sort of precedence for this – Remember a few years ago on American Idol when Mario Vazquez “dropped out” after he was named to the Top 12? They brought back Nikko Smith who had been eliminated the week before.

James, I agree. Both Nigel and Mia were the very epitome of rude and crude. I cringed for poor Jessica. I gotta give the edge to Mia’s comment in retrospect – it was beyond the pale.

It will be sad for Comfort to come back just to get the boot again this week.
The judges will probably have sympathy and choose someone else to send home this week – and that will suck – because no else really deserves to go yet.
Damn it – I had the eliminations all planned out – now this.
Guess we will have to wait & watch the performances.
July 14th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
ColoradoKila – the judges don’t get to pick anymore — it’s all up to the audience from now on. I suspect that Comfort will get a swifter boot this week because of her smaller fan base. Although we could be in for a surprise. America’s strange that way

Ducky, where’s the piodcast forlast weeks show? I’m dieing here.
July 14th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
I freakin’ hate Comfort.
July 14th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
How could they NOT send Comfort home this week? I mean, maybe she’ll get some amazing dance and America will vote her in, but I highly doubt it. Besides, if I were one of the remaining top girls and they put Comfort back in, there’d be some fighting if they didn’t kick her off. I’d rip that weave off her head!
On the world dances thread, I have to say that I’m a little on the fence. Some of these world dances are just not, I don’t know, suited, for a TV show. I mean I guess they could do the hulu or some other Polynesian dance, but it just always looks dumb when someone non-Polynesian does it. (I will admit I’m biased here – I have family from Hawaii.) I’m just not sure I want to see the dancers trying to do performances from all of these other countries. I must say when I heard “Bollywood”, I fell out of my chair laughing. I mean come on…but it was GOOD, although I think Joshua made it look more African than Indian. I enjoyed it, nevertheless. How about a dance from Thailand where they wear those pointy golden helmet things and the long golden nails? LOL

I HATE COMFORT! seriously…
July 15th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Okay, so I’m no Comfort fan either, but I don’t hate her. Her solo last week was probably the best she’s ever done.
I bet you Jessica will be in tour at some point, if only to do that Adam N’ Eve dance again with Will.
And James — I know it’s probably strange at first to see the gringos doing ethnic dances, but it’s a testament to the universality of dance, right? Salsa was done really well by the non-latinos (like cousin Heidi or Anya or sister Lacey), while hip hop can be nerdy awesome (a la Tranji). I DO want to see some Indonesian dancing, with those crazy costumes. Being Filipino, I would love to see some “tinikling” (pronounced Tih-nick-LING), which is the dances with the two bamboo poles. That would be banoodles! (Bamboodles?)
