Ducky’s Fall TV Preview: Sunday’s Schedule 2008

Sunday nights are pretty chillax once we get past the first few weeks of September. MAD MEN will be winding down (sadly) as will the latest installment of BIG BROTHER which leaves my Sunday nights surprisingly peaceful.

DEXTER begins Season 3 on September 28th which means there will be more bloody greatness from my man Dex Morgan. Jimmy Smits coming in this year as Dexter’s first true friend will make for an incredibly interesting new side to our favorite vigilante. Here’s to hoping Deb gets an actual romantic and non-psychotic relationship this year and does anyone else kinda want Rita out of the picture sooner than later?

THE AMAZING RACE finally returns for its 13th season and I’m dying for this show to come back. It seems like forever since we saw Kynt and Vixen bite it and the hippies TK and Rachel win the whole kaboodle. Plus, I need some Phil back in my life. The shows been gone so long that I almost don’t remember what a Detour is… I kid.

BROTHERS & SISTERS is a show that I’m so wishy-washy with. When I’m in the zone and watching it regularly I absoadore it but if it’s gone too long – I could care less. I used to look forward to it as a good cry, a way to let go the stress of a long week but eventually it stopped making me cry regularly and started annoying me constantly. Some of these Walkers are despicable human beings and it makes it hard to identify or love them. I’ll probably watch though, that’s how fickle I am.

Not kidding, last night I got all teary eyed in a dirty little karaoke bar in Cambridge as I took a break from belting out Heart’s “What About Love” to watch the final minutes of Barack Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech.

Seriously, I was so blown away by his passion, power and the vision of hope he has for a new America that I got a little misty while some douchebag dry humped my friend Cheryl as she sang The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

If you missed his cramazing speech, check it out right here in it’s entirety and weep with me.

Watch Barack Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech
“The American Promise”:

What an incredible night and end to a powerful week of speeches from Michelle Obama (nailed it and girl I’m loving you), Ted Kennedy (still alive), Hillary Clinton (girl, love you and your sisterhood of traveling pant-suits), Al Gore (wider but still brilliant), VP2B Joe Biden (i likey) and Bill Clinton (still charms my socks off). I just can’t imagine this going any other way come November. But, my faith in America never ceases to fail me so…

A little birdie at Showtime tweeted about this DEXTER poster and it’s hilarious! I had to post this poster because if it is 100% for reals, it’s abso-frakkin-genius.

I’ve got the first three episodes burning a hole in my desk and I love teasing myself into holding out as long as possible to watch the GOSSIP GIRL Season 2 goodness but that doesn’t mean I won’t share the wealth.

While you have to wait until September 1st to see the entire Season 2 premiere, you can catch the first 5 minutes right now! Delish…

    TheWB.com

Once upon a time there was a network that turned this (at the time) mid-to-late 20-something into a 14 year old girl. It made me laugh, it made me cry and at times it made me feel dirty… THE WB!

I was abso-obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell, Felicity, Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, Popular and other to the point that it was almost embarassing.

Tomorrow, August 27th at 11am PST TheWB.com will launch and while not all of my oldies will be there, it’s a great place to spend your lunch break or a rainy afternoon. Catching up with old friends…

Check out the teaser for the launch:

Buffy, Angel, Veronica Mars, Everwood, Roswell, Gilmore Girls, The O.C., Smallville, Friends and some new shows… what more could you ask for (well besides Felicity and Popular)?

It’s a good day for TV Geeks everywhere! ABC announced today that they have picked up pilots for two new shows that nerds are bound to go gaga for.

    Nathan Fillion Castle

First up is Captain Hammer’s pilot CASTLE in which Nathan Fillion plays a mystery writer who helps the NYPD to help solve crimes. I don’t care what it is as long as Nathan Fillion and his penis hammer genius self is in it. This better not interfere with a Dr. Horrible sequel because if it does in any way shape or form, I hope the show gets canceled. Yes kids, I’m evil selfish like that.

    Bobby Cannavale - Cupid

The long talked about redux of CUPID was also given the go-ahead today. Rob Thomas’ remake of his 90’s show will hopefully see the light of day. Bobby Cannavale fills in for Jeremy Piven and Sarah Paulson takes over for Paula Marshall. Fingers crossed there’s a role in there somewhere for Tina Majorino because I want her back on my television right this second.

Lacey Schwimmer and Lance Bass Partner on Dancing With The Stars

I hate this show but damn, they’re making it harder for me to ignore Dancing With The Stars. Not only has openly gay singer celebrity person Lance Bass been cast, his partner is none other than So You Think You Can Dance Season 3 Alum Lacey Schwimmer!

As much as I love my girl Lacey, I can’t watch… I won’t. I’m glad she got a professional gig on TV but I cannot watch this subpar dancing show. ’nuff said.

    New 90210 logo (CW)

Hey tube viewers, I’ve been pretty absent this week because my family is here visiting but I wanted to quick get the new 90210 teasers up that feature the return of Brenda Walsh, Ms. Shannen Doherty.

Plus, this week we learned a little more about how Brenda returns and why! I’m not going to tell you how devastated I was to receive the email telling me I wasn’t getting the pilot screener this week, I’ll just show you the teasers.

NEWS WISE: It seems that Kelli Taylor will be the one responsible for bringing the bitch back to West Bev! She’ll personally contact Brenda (who’s still in London I believe) to invite her back to the famous zip code to direct the shool’s production of SPRING AWAKENING.

Spring Awakening on 90210 (GAP Ad)

I both absolove and absohate this idea at the same time! Spring Awakening has been a pretty large obsession of mine for the last two years so I love that it’s getting some more hype (like it needs it) but at the same time, do we need a possibly very lame 90210 corruption of this masterpiece? Well I guess that’s the bitch of living…

    From Playbill.com

Executive producer Jeff Judah told Zap2it.com, “We’re doing Spring Awakening. It’s a great play, a great musical. We thought it would be a really cool thing to do a contemporary musical instead of doing Annie Get Your Gun or something that a lot of high schools do. So if we could do a contemporary musical and put that in the show, it’s sort of also talking about how the show has changed in the last 20 years.”

    Torchwood Gwen and Capt. Jack

Well it’s been a couple weeks since I saw Capt. Jack and Ianto at Comic-Con and since Gwen went gangsta on a Dalek so it’s about time we heard something about TORCHWOOD Series 3.

Yesterday I got this tidbit in my email from Titan, the folks behind the Torchwood Magazine, and I screamed like a little girl to have anything to wrap my hands around related to Cardiff and that silly little riff of theirs. Here’s the information I got, relish.

Russell T Davies has revealed the title of series three’s arc story exclusively to Torchwood magazine. Torchwood: Children Of Earth is the tantalising name of the five-part story, set for broadcast over one week on BBC1 in spring 2009.

Russell outlined his vision for the new series at a top secret ‘tone meeting’ last month, where writers, producers and key crew get together to thrash out the details of the script before production begins. “I usually give you all one or two tone words when we have a meeting like this,” the executive producer told the assembled team, “But if I were to give you two words this time, they would be ‘Euros Lyn’. More than ever before, this series of Torchwood will be director-led, and it will look absolutely amazing.”

Euros Lyn is known to Doctor Who fans for directing such varied stories as The End Of The World and The Girl In The Fireplace. Most recently, he oversaw the Steven Moffat two-parter Silence In The Library/Forest Of The Dead. Children Of Earth will be his first foray into the world of Torchwood, but promises to be every bit as ambitious in its scope.

Principal photography on series three began on August 18, and is set to continue until November – in Cardiff and beyond.

Hey kids, I’m going out of town for the weekend and wanted to leave you all with something to read in my absence (if you can pull yourself away from Olympic madness).

If you’ve been following my coming out series over at AfterElton.com then you know my childhood was a rainbow of fruit flavors and most of those flavors are quite embarassing!

This week I look back on the girls I dated that had one thing in common… each had hot brothers that came with the package.

Thanks to Kristin Dos Santos and her crew over at E!, we’ve got a couple more preview clips for Season 2 of GOSSIP GIRL. These aren’t the cramazing promos I posted the other day, these are full clips from the premiere.

Superfantastic Korean comedian Margaret Cho’s new VH1 series THE CHO SHOW premieres August 21st at 11pm but you can watch the premiere now bitches!

If you’re wondering what to expect, it’s Kathy Griffin’s D List mixed with the best of Anna Nicole’s hot mess slapped together with Cho’s standup energy and genius which gives us something better than I’ve explained… it’s The Cho Show.

I know I’m a couple days behind but I’ve been a busy boy… Here are a few of my favorite photos from the upcoming SUPERNATURAL Season 4 premiere called “Lazarus Rising.”

At Comic-Con we saw the first 6 minutes and they were amazing. I have it on good word that I should have a copy of the premiere in my dirty little hands very very shortly and I’ll give you the rundown the minute I do!

In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the hotness, the Wincest and the Bobby!
