SUPERNATURAL “Yellow Fever” Behind The Scenes Photos (Luther)

I feel like SUPERNATURAL’s “Yellow Fever” was so hyped in my own mind (and all over the blogosphere) that going into the episode I was expecting nothing but a little disappointment. I really enjoyed this episode but I don’t think it was one of the strongest this season. My opinion might change as time goes on because adding Lilith to the mix and having Sam’s eyes flash in those final moments were pretty great so…

Here are some of my favorite moments from Supernatural “Yellow Fever”:

  • Starting off with Dean being chased by that little dog with the pink bow… j’adorable
  • The look on Dean’s face when he realized that holding the heart actually was the best option (I hope Sam washed his face in acid after that spleen juice bukkake action)
  • Gamecocks and Cornjerkers
  • Seriously with the hand sanitizer Sheriff?
  • “Tyler and Perry, that’s just like Aerosmith”
  • Dean’s crazy paranoia (the dog, the harmless kids on the street, doing 20 mph, “Am I haunted?”, hotel rooms past the 1st floor, impersonating FBI agents, the before mentioned dog incident, Sam as YED)
  • EYE OF THE TIGER! (and don’t forget the outtake clip)
  • Hahaha, a disease that only latches onto dicks!
  • OMFG, I almost peed when Dean let out that girly scream when the cat jumped out of the locker! GENIUS!
  • Our introduction to this week’s baddie Luther Garland scared the shit out of me because it reminded me of the ending to The Blair Witch Project (visually that is)
  • “Is he drunk?”
  • Um, how gross that people are taking on the signs of Luther’s vicious dragging death? That’s hideous.
  • Dean’s crazy people speech was great. Jensen rocked it!
  • Gumby with Pokey getting dragged around by a rope… hilarious!
  • I like the idea behind killing this week’s big baddie aka ghosty. Kill it with fear.
  • LILITH! Oh gosh, that little bitch is hugging Dean. Oh she’s scarier than one of those Fanning kids. Seriously with the ba-booming? Kill that skank already.
  • Holy crap, Sam’s eyes quickly flashing yellow at the very end!
  • With Halloween just around the corner and the Scream Awards having just passed, the first real FRIDAY THE 13th reboot trailer has hit the internet (shown at the awards). Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki and The Mentalist’s Amanda Righetti star in what I hope is a cramazing revamp of the original.

I’m a psycho Friday the 13th fan with my favorites being 1, 2, 4, and 3 (in that order) and at Comic-Con I sat in on the panel which featured a killer trailer but the most boring panel of the weekend so I’m beyond excited to see a real trailer it the web.

In general I’m not a fan of reboots or remakes but I have to say that I really dug the Texas Chainsaw remake (back in 2003) by director Marcus Nispel so I’m not gonna lie, February 2009 can’t come soon enough.

Check out the beyond JPad lite trailer for Friday the 13th:

*Pamela Voorhees’ speech narrating the trailer? Hotness! (sadly though, it’s NOT Betsy Palmer’s voice)

The CW has been teasing us for two weeks about a big surprise at the end of tonight’s SUPERNATURAL episode “Yellow Fever” so do not miss out folks!

If you’ve been dying to figure it out, TV Guide has a little more information about what will come of the videos we’ve seen so far.

The real reason I wanted to post about Supernatural today was to pass on an incredible article praising the show we know and love while asking why the rest of the media elite hasn’t caught on yet.

    Here’s a portion of Ed Martin’s piece:

Why doesn’t the mainstream television press pay more attention to The CW’s Supernatural?

The occasional story about this four-year-old franchise appears from time to time, but from its humble beginnings back on The WB, Supernatural has never received the kind of outsize coverage enjoyed by such genre series as ABC’s Lost or NBC’s Heroes, not to mention The X-Files during its nine-year-run on Fox or the vampire drama Moonlight during its all-too-brief single season on CBS. Fox’ brand new suspense drama Fringe, which continually crosses a moving line between science fiction and science fact, became a media darling even before it premiered and remains a favorite, even though it has yet to prove that it will over time live up to the early hype. (That’s not a slam against Fringe. It’s a perfectly decent series. It may evolve into a great series. But, to date, it is hardly the groundbreaking effort that the media mania surrounding it would suggest.)

Meanwhile, Supernatural sits on the sidelines, largely out of sight and out of mind, at least where television journalists are concerned. That may be due in part to the fact that they are more intently focused on the show’s formidable time period competition, including CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; NBC’s The Office, and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. But Supernatural survives and thrives opposite those shows, so where is the love? In all likelihood, some members of the TV elite dismiss it as a “horror” show starring two “pretty boys,” the likes of which populate many dramas on The CW, just as they did many dramas on The WB.

Well, I’ve been watching Supernatural this season and I am here to say that this series about demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester currently offers the strongest and most satisfying mythology storytelling of any genre show at present. That’s an incredible accomplishment, given the problems that so many series with intense mythologies suffer after one or two seasons. Here’s another plus: Supernatural doesn’t extend its mythology simply by layering mystery upon mystery upon mystery, a storytelling construct first overdone by Twin Peaks, and then by The X-Files, and more recently by Lost and, now, Heroes. (Does anyone understand what is happening on Heroes this season? More to the point, does anyone any longer care about any of the characters on that show?) Rather, Supernatural simply extends and deepens a story that is always very easy to follow, even when the plot turns and makes clear that everything one might have thought one knew about the central characters may not be true at all.

I know you’ve probably already seen this LOST Season 5 Preview video but as I was sick when it hit the internets this is the first chance I’ve had to watch and post it! I’m dying for this show to return and this video did not help me keep my anxiety at bay.
