Damages Season 2 Picture Header

In the summer of 2007 a couple shows rocked cable’s world. One was MAD MEN, another was DAMAGES starring the unbelievably scary Glenn Close and relative newcomer Rose Byrne.

DAMAGES quickly became one of the most intriguing and well acted shows on television, leaving the audience shaking like Patty Hewes at the beach when Season 1 came to a close in the Fall of 2007.

It’s been a long time but my love for the show lives on and tonight Season 2 kicks off where Season 1 left off. I’m dying to see how Ellen’s involvement with the Feds in trying to bring Patty down impacts her worklife and how thin that tightrope she’ll be walking gets as the season unfolds. The Season 2 cast is out of sight now that William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden and Timothy Olpyhant have been added to the cast – which makes me piddle when I think about it.

If you are late to the game, you can catch up on the show with these Season 1 recap videos until this weekend when you should really go out and get the DVD’s. There are only 13 episodes to catch up on and you will not be sorry. There’s mystery, intrigue, blood, drugs, hot guys, hot girls and some of the best acting your television will have seen in years.

Simon Baker stars in THE MENTALIST

One of my favorite people on earth works on CBS’s hit show THE MENTALIST so to support said person and their efforts (and the efforts of Hotness Monster Simon Baker) I decided to get my grubby hands on some screeners. I’m happy to report that as of this moment am completely caught up on the series and completely loving it.

True, The Mentalist is a weekly crime procedural that’s not too involved or intricate. That’s why it’s catching over 20 million viewers a week but I’m not above that like many TV enthusiasts may claim to be. Sure it’s no LOST, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA or DAMAGES but you know what? It’s not trying to be. It’s closest cousin would probably be something more like THE CLOSER – it’s about serious crime but has plenty of humor and a cramazingly adorable star.

Simon Baker Nude

That’s right folks, I’m kinda sorta head over heels for Simon Baker and his portrayal of Patrick Jane. Not only is he far from hard to look at, he’s wounded, sarcastic, good with his hands… do I need to continue? Jane is the kind of character you really don’t want to like because he’s so smug and pretty but over time you’re just drawn into his charming web of charmy-charmness and you can’t escape.

It took about two episodes before I was sold on Baker and Jane as a lead. I was much more skeptical of the supporting cast which another reason why I hesitated taking on the show this past fall.

The Biggest Loser Couples 7

Y’all know I’ve got a weakness for the heavy weights on THE BIGGEST LOSER and after last season’s semi-lackluster and unmotivated contestants I was psyched to see the newest cast begin their journey last night.

I know that last season was fun and sometimes evil, full of backstabbing and revenge which is everything I want in a reality show like THE AMAZING RACE or SURVIVOR but I hate it on a show like The Biggest Loser. Loser is more important, it’s more of a life changing show than a reality show and I hate when the contestants lose track and play the game more than change their lives (*cough* Vicki you hose-beast, I’m talking about you).

Last season it was about the game and it made me hate almost every tubby tubby what hangs over on the show – I don’t want to hate these people, I want to root for them and cry with them… that’s how I roll.

So I’m happy to report that within 15 minutes of the show starting last night I was already in tears. They promised the “biggest” season ever and they’ve delivered. This season not only plays host to the youngest and oldest contestants ever, it also has the biggest female contestant on the show and the largest contestant to ever step on that enormous scale.

It was the latter that brought me to tears for some reason. Daniel is a 19 year old that weighs close to 500 lbs. and just watching he and his pal David talk about their history and their hopes for the show I got all misty. Big people = big emotions on my part – I can’t help it!

So far I really like all the teams but that doesn’t mean some of these folks don’t need to go ASAP! I like a lot of halves, not whole teams… is that bad? I guess it’s not because after the big twist was revealed last night most of the people I didn’t like hit the road.

That’s right, The Biggest Loser laid a big whammy on the 11 teams last night. Two teams would be safe, every other team would have to send one of their members home for 30 days to lose the weight on their own. If at the end of the 30 days their teammate is still on the ranch, they’re back in the game. It’s crazy-fun as a twist and I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

If you did watch, were you just glued to your tube when 63 year old Jerry collapsed? That was some scary shit! He up and just passed out… I’d be mortified and would probably never show my face again but damn, that man came back and kicked some ass! You Go Jer!

Here are the people I’m digging so far this season:
Jerry (White Team)
Tara (Green Team)
Daniel (Orange Team)
Dane and his Major Appliance of a friend, Blaine (Black Team)
Carla, who went home last night (Silver Team)

Here are the folks I’m so not feeling:
Joelle aka Gets her ass handed to her by Trainer Bob next week (Silver Team)
Helen (Pink Team)
Laura (Green Team)

That’s not too bad of me for having watched just the premiere so far. Usually I have a much longer list of the contestants I hate… I’m prepared for a really emotional and amazing season! Damn I love this show.

Sci-Fi Wire has posted an exclusive 90 second scene from what is presumably the first of the final 10 episodes of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!

Click on the video below to watch the entire clip and to see why life on Earth may be a bigger bitch than D’Anna. You’ll see Tigh, Roslin, Bill, Anders, Helo and others as they take in the condition of their new home. After seeing Lee looking all distraught, tell me you don’t want to snuggle and tell him everything will be okay!
