It seems like a million years since the madness, chaos, mind-bending storylines of LOST graced our television in beautiful HD but the wait is over, Lost returns tonight!

I’ve seen the first 3 hours of Lost Season 5 so far and I’m really digging the direction the season is going. Everything we’ve learned to love over the last 4 years remains but the show once again changes the game with some new twists, turns, returns and time changes.

If you’ve been a passive viewer of Lost (Mom I’m talking about you), this might be the season that makes you stop watching. If you were confused by flashbacks, flash forwards and island time get ready because the signature whoosh sound that signified a change is gone and time is much more fluid.

Science takes a much more prominent place on the show and I think that might be a hard pill for my Mom’s of the world to swallow. If they’ve accepted the smoke monster and Jacob there’s a chance that the island disappearing and doing what it does in the premiere will be accepted as well.

For the die-hards, this will only make them appreciate the show more!

If people are looking for answers and to be hand-held through the premiere, brace yourselves because while there are some answers, there are once again a new set of questions and confusions to wrap your heads around. It wouldn’t be the Lost we love without them.

Get ready to see some familiar faces, some you may not remember (but I promise they’ve been seen before) and some new characters of intrigue to familiarize yourselves with. I highly recommend having Lostepedia ready to help guide you through the rough spots.

My spoiler-lite thoughts on the premiere after the jump…

  • Brace yourself for shirtless Sawyer, crazy Ben, beardless Jack (finally), on the run Kate, all knowing Juliet, the return of Richard Alpert, dead and alive Locke, Butch Sayid and the Sundance Hurley not to mention the freighter gang and much more.
  • Daniel Faraday plays a huge role in past and future of Lost which is awesome because I frakkin love Jeremy Davies.
  • Hurley gives the funniest Lost recap-non-recap ever!
  • Rose and Bernard are back and in rare form.
  • Doc Candle returns and we get an inside look at some of those famous Dharma initiation videos.
  • We’ll learn what happened after the island moved (just have an open mind and be patient)
  • Sawyer slaps someone around and threatens to slap some more if they don’t shut it.
  • Someone gets shot; someone gets tranqued!
  • Another plane crashes on the island.
  • Juliet explains what happened in Desmond’s hatch to the freighter folks and Miles’ reaction says it all.
  • Someone’s getting serious nose bleeds.
  • Frank returns, even though he hoped to never see this lot again!
  • Motels play a huge part of the premiere.
  • Sun has balls of steel and a heart of gold.
  • Ben Linus once again proves he’s a man on a mission, that he has people in the damnedest places and that he will get everyone back to that island if it kills him.
  • Oh and Libby says Hi!
  • Sit back, relax and get ready for an amazing night of television!

I actually also have seen the first three episodes of Lost. While the twist might be a little confusing at first stick with it since it is awesome and will lead to a great season for Lost. Pay very close attention (don’t even miss one second) though Lost fans since there are so many references to past seasons of Lost. Characters from the past show up including one that I never thought would ever make another appearance on the show. We also start getting some answers (which make sense and I liked) which makes me think that Darlton truly know what they want to do to end the series.

Overall the first three episodes of Lost are amazing and are perfect examples of why Lost is easily the best show on television right now. Lost fans should definitely be happy tonight after such a long wait for new episodes.
