Y’all know I have a huge weakness for the weight loss life transformer THE BIGGEST LOSER so my getting emotional over the show is no big shocker. Tonight’s show however was one huge shocker after another and I felt like I’d been beaten with a rubber hose and dragged through the Hudson on the belly of Sully’s plane.

When the teams did their shake up a couple weeks back, the majority of the players I’m most invested in were on Jillian’s Black Team so they were who I began rooting for. While I have nothing against Kristin, Mandi or Aubrey the fact is that they’re up against my two favorite players Tara and Mike so they’re expendable in the long run and I could no longer root for them. That was my mentality coming into tonight’s 2 hour bullshit fest that tested my patience and my sanity not to mention had me hoping the Black Team would lose.

This week the players were paired up against a contestant from the opposite team and the winner of each match up earned a point. When a team had 3 points, that team would win and be exempt, forcing the other team to send someone home. Easy enough, especially when Tara wins the ability to pair off the teams to the Black Team’s advantage. Slam dunk right? Not so much.

Immediately the Black Team starts getting cocky, certain that they have such a huge upper hand that there’s no chance they’re going to lose. While it didn’t bother me, I figured it was some not so subtle foreshadowing of bad things to come. Add on a 24 hour luxury where the Black Team gorged themselves on over 16,000 calories and ungodly amounts of alcohol and I knew immediately that they were going down big time.

When they got back at the ranch, Jillian loses her shit on the uncontrollable sloths and sends almost everyone into a shame spiral. Everyone except Filipe who does a Bobby Brady voice crackling impression before storming out like a little bitch to join Bob’s team for their last chance workout because he feels neglected and un-welcomed by Jillian. Sione being another blubbering Bob lover joins him… and Bob allows it!

Here’s where I start losing my shit. This is the second time this season that Bob has crossed the line with contestants. It’s completely ludicrous that he didn’t immediately send them back to Jillian to work it out. They are no longer on his team and hes’ just as responsible for their not feeling part of Jillian’s team as they are for being bitches about the shake up in the first place. I was floored that he let them stay and work out with his Blue Team. It not only undermines Jillian’s training, it undermines his integrity and essentially hurts the people on his current Blue Team. RIDONK!

Why Jillian chose to not work Filipe out earlier in the episode is beyond me but it doesn’t warrant a mutiny. I hope Jillian sucker punched Bob when the cameras weren’t watching. He totally deserves it.

Now let’s talk about my Black Team for a minute. They’re all fucking idiots and by the end of their luxury/food gang bang I wanted them to lose it all and that says something. Are these people insane? I knew that they wouldn’t work out for that 24 hours and that alone had me worried for them this week. When they hit that dinner and the food kept coming and coming I got pissed. By the time they were out at the bar drinking, smoking and chowing down on chicken fingers and fries I was in a full on rage! My poor television has dents it from the verbal lashing I was giving these tools. One day off the ranch and they throw everything away. If they wanted to be that reckless, they deserved to lose and I fully expected it.

Tara gets on the scale first and loses nothing, not a single pound. Fool. My boy Mikey gets up there and loses 7, giving them their first point (the only one I assumed). Blue takes the next two rounds and it’s just looking pitiful. It comes down to a tie and the decision will be made when Sione goes up against the increasingly powerful Mandi.

To no ones surprise, Sione pulls a pretty low number and I’m prepared for them to send his cousin Filipe packing until the huge shocker hits… Mandi gains 2 fucking pounds! WHA-WHA-WHAT?!!!

My heart hit the floor. Week after week, she’s been giving Tara a run for her money on being the baddest ass girl on campus and this week was no different. She’s a machine out there and for her to only lose 2 pounds was devastating to watch. Immediately I start tearing up. I’m such a wuss. It was just so horrible. I mean, after the Black Team barely loses any weight this week, this was a slap in the face. Poor Mandi.

Then worthless Ron (Mike’s dad who really is a good guy but he’s been pissing me off lately so he’s on my shit list, hence the “worthless” title this week) says that it’s Mandi’s time to go home. REALLY BUDDY? You can’t compete in 95% of the challenges or activities on the ranch and the girl that is killing everyone should go home? It was the way he said it that pissed me off most. Like, obviously it’s Mandi’s time to go home when the rest of his team has been saving his ass from elimination since Day 1. Bullshit!

Laura from the Black Team had an extra vote this week so she swings on in to see where the Blue Team is at and she learns that it’s 3 to 2 for Mandi to leave. Aubrey offers up herself as a sacrifice for her sister and the plan becomes a forced tie with Laura making the decision to send Aubrey home. This i the same shit she pulled back in Week 1 when she went home, leaving Mandi on the ranch. She didn’t stick up for herself and she didn’t do nearly as well at home as she thinks she did. On the ranch she’s been killing it but whatevs.

At elimination, Laura votes for Cathy to go home (as planned). Ron and Kristin vote for Mandi as does Cathy. Aubrey votes for Cathy and here comes the tie (as planned).

*record scratches*

Mandi votes for Ron because she can’t let her sister sacrifice her health and future for her once again. I start blubbering almost as much as Aubrey does. As much as I’ll miss Mandi, I’m glad she was the better person and forced her sister to stay on the ranch because she knows Aubrey isn’t there yet. She isn’t in the mental space where she can go home and lose the same amount of weight with the same intensity. It’s the obvious choice but it was still shocking and incredibly sweet. I’ll miss that Mandi, don’t know why but I will.

Was anyone else as all over the place tonight with their emotions as they watched the episode? I went from super excited to super disappoint and pissed to vengeful to shocked and saddened in the matter of 2 hours. Bravo NBC, Bravo for delivering one of the best episodes of reality television ever (and for making me cry like a little bitch).

I haven’t even watched it yet and I am pissed off. And yes Bob is out of control this season. I have heard on good authority that Bob and Jillian HATE each other in real life and take it all very seriously. Also, I feel that the majority of the people who were sent back home only to be brought back, really don’t want to be at the ranch as much as the originals.

YAY I’m so glad you posted this. I am all kinds of worked up about this episode. My emotions ran the gamut from irritated to vociferously irritated to frickin gobsmacked. Ron makes me crazy. You are absolutely right; it’s how he said (in that sad “what a shame” shake-of-the-head way) “It’s Mandi’s time to go home,” like it was a foregone conclusion, like something a parent would say about a beloved guinea pig that’s about to kick the bucket. He said it like “I wish this didn’t have to be the way, but we just have to accept it, circle of life” when he was making the CHOICE to send her home to save himself! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT RON.

And Filipe. Dude. Filipe. Yes, it’s weird that Jillian didn’t work him out individually. Yes, the contestants are vulnerable and need support. But dude! Passive-aggressive much? If you want help, ask for it. Maybe you feel like you shouldn’t have to, but just man up and hash it out with her, don’t stuff a storeload of rage into your pocket so you can whip it out as an excuse after you get busted for downing seven mai tais and a double scoop of mashed potatoes or whatever. Dude.

Pete (husband/BL watching partner) was like, “The producers told Bob to let Sione and Filipe work out with him,” which yeah, that prolongs the tension/fissure, but he absolutely should have said no, they need to work out their issues with Jillian right now. It’s like you said in the podcast about the Hysterical Bob Meltdown of ‘09, HE is the one making it worse. Bob, I love you with your tats and your yoga and your Extra gum, but man alive. Get a grip.

So yeah, obviously I had some things to get off my chest about The Biggest Loser. Thanks again for posting about it.

Okay, I only have a minute here but what is with Bob turning into such a girl this season? He has repeatedly let his emotions determine his choices, even though I know this is a very emotional show.

Also, Filipe didn’t seem to mind when Bob was ripping that girl (how quickly the names leave me) a new one when she wouldn’t work out earlier in the season. He only seems to mind when HE gets called out on his mistakes.

My favorite line: Jillian, “Fine, run to daddy. What do I care?”

I really hated/loved this episode. First, Filipe was definitely being a baby. I get the feeling that the trainers don’t train each person one on one everyday. How could they? Jillian has six members on her team and she probably spends about an hour one on one with each person, plus she spends a lot of time training them as a group, so some are bound to be left out during the day. If Filipe wanted to be trained so badly, he should have just asked Jillian for help. Ultimately though, I blame Bob for all this. He really did undermined Jillian’s authority by crying like a school girl after the teams where switched up. Last season, Jillian called the blue team “the cult of Bob” and that really applies this season.

Now on to Ron. How much do I hate this guy? I understand that he has a lot of weight he has to loss, however, he’s only losing 5 to 6 pounds a week. He seriously can’t do that at home??? I’m glad he’s on the blue team, so they can keep losing and sparing the black team. If the black team ever loses a weigh in, “the cult of Bob” mentality will take over and Tara will be the first to go. Tara and Jillian are the only ones I’m rooting for.

Whew! My wife and I ran the gambit of emotions too. Is it me or did Felipe leave out or change most of what happened with Jillian? Sure she didn’t work him out. Ok, weird… but in a gym in the real world a trainer is not working you EVERY time you are in the gym. You have to push yourself & know when you need help. How would Bob have reacted if Felipe had told him, “we drank like lushes, ate like slobs and partied all night with NO daily workout…” Think Bob would have embraced him at all?

As for Ron. He’s such a great fatherly figure for that team. The great wisdom he imparted to his team last week was to get rid of their strongest player.?! WHAT? This week, their second strongest player… HUH? We all know that he needs the personal training that can only be found on the BL campus, because it doesn’t exist in the real world outside of seeing a psychical therapist. Ultimately it is a game. He should not be competing, he should know it is time for him to pack his bags. Instead he’s being a selfish ass.

And, why was Kathy the one that that was in discussion to go home instead of Mandy? Ugh. Bob is the worst Zen master I can this of. I’m ranting… BLECH!

  7. Paula says:

OMG You summed up everything I was thinking. I wish Jullian had gone over there and just bitch slapped those three guys. And I have always voted for the black team but after their activites I was hoping they would lose. I could see mybe going over board with the eating a little but to drink and drink. They were still playing a game and knew they had to weigh in this week

  8. michele says:

I love this show so much but its getting crazier every week. I agree that bob should have sent them back and talk it out with Jillion. He over reacted and cried like a big baby and from the beginner i really wanted the cousins to win this. not really sure now.Bob has been really different this season.Whats going on?And Mandi. She was an awsome player.I really liked her.I really hated seeing her go.And its time for Ron to go.Mike will do fine without him.last night really kept you on ur toes.never knew what was going to happen.

  9. Donna says:

I totally agree with everything you said! I like Ron as a person, but gimme a break. Why is it just “Mandi’s time to go”? They will lose and lose hard for the rest of the season. I loved Filipe until last night. Man up and take advantage of the different training styles of both Bob and Jillian — you are lucky, dude. I COULD NOT BELIEVE the choices they made for food and drink. Ever hear of sharing? They went totally over the edge, not just part way.

  10. Simon says:

Wow, I agree with everything in this article. What pissed me off the most was how Filipe tried to get off the hook for eating junk food by making Jillian out to be the bad guy.

Also, Ron has to go home. If the blue team was smart, they’d notice that he’s the main reason to why they keep losing, and yet he is the one who ultimatly decided that Mandi was going home.

Let me finish my rant by saying that I have never seen this show until this season, but Bob is a little bi*ch. He needs to realize that the show isn’t about him, and that he is not supirior to Jullian and that he cannot train someone from the oposing team just because he likes them.

I like the host though, she seems down to earth.
