As you’ve maybe heard me mention in one or two posts, I’m taking my first trip to San Diego’s COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL in two weeks.
Comic-Con has moved beyond the manga lovin’, furry wearing, swoard bearing, trekkies you’re thinking about right now. It’s more than a comic book convention. It’s a sci-fi convention as well. That doesn’t make it sound any less geek central does it? It’s turning into a Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy Film and TV Convention as well. Sound better? I thought so.
As you know, I’m one of the people that runs The Independent Film Festival of Boston (shout out Nancy, Brian, and Christine who regularly read the blog and are my cohorts) and obviously you know I’m a big TV geek. The chance to see panel discussions, meet creators of film and tv shows I love, see sneak previews of films and tv shows I love is just too big. I must go!
GMMR and I are shacking up in San Diego for the week and we’ll be meeting up with Rae, The TV Addict, Seat42f and many other tv bloggers (as well as 250,000 of our closest and scariest friends) to cover all things fall tv! We’re also hoping to do a huge TV Bloggers Podcast or two!
What shows are gonna be there? The list is big and here are the ones I plan on attending in some capacity.
TORCHWOOD (BBC America’s spin-off of Doctor Who)
LOST
REAPER
MOONLIGHT
24
CHUCK
PUSHING DAISIES
BIONIC WOMAN
TVGuide’s Hot List and Super Women
HEROES
KYLE XY
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
SUPERNATURAL
SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
SARAH SILVERMAN PROJECT
BUFFY’s 10th Anniversary
TIN MAN
The 4400
JERICHO
Granted some of these panels overlap so there will be a few that get missed but TV wise, this is my dream list. There are also a number of film events that I want to attend.
Paramount Studios Presentation, Lionsgate Presentation, FANBOYS (with Kristin Bell), Warner Bros Films, 20th Century Fox, Shoot Em Up, Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN!!!!!, Rogue/Focus films, The Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton and many more.
Kinda crazy, huh?
Are any of you guys going? What do you want me to find out or meet or see while I’m there? Let me know.

NBC was first to kick off UPFRONTS! This is the week where every network blows their load and announces the new shows and lineups for the upcoming Fall TV season.
Of the new shows NBC has to offer, I’m only interested in the following two dramas and one comedy.

LIFE (Wednesday’s 10pm)
It’s about some guy that gets a second chance at life. Fine, not the best concept but the supporting cast is great. Sexy (last seen as a lesbo) Sarah Shahi, Deadwood (and Juliet’s sister on LOST) alum Robin Weigert, and Adam Arkin join Damian Lewis for what will hopefully be a good show.

LIPSTICK JUNGLE (Sunday’s 10pm)
Sure Candace Bushnell is behind this show and its kinda like a sequel to Sex & The City but PPD-Survivor Brooke Shields stars along with Kim Raver (Audrey from 24) and Lindsey Price (hello, 90210 – but sadly still not Emily Valentine) will be working it as the NYC power women who I’m sure are looking for love and companionship in all the wrong places.

And the only Comedy I’m even remotely interested in stars one of my TV Crush’s JOEL MCHALE (The Soup on E! – So Meaty) and it’s called The IT Crowd. Granted, I was into it by title alone because I used to love that movie The IN Crowd and for a minute I thought maybe it was a show based on that movie. But, then I realized that Joel McHale’s in it and whatever he’s doing, I’m all about it.
I’m semi-interested in BIONIC WOMAN because well, let’s face it… it’s the BIONIC WOMAN and I had her lunchbox as a kid.

Is it wrong that I just deleted the last 3 episodes of 24 from my DVR? We’re moving in 2 weeks and with the festival premiering tonight and running until May 1st there is just no way I’m going to have time to catch up and watch them before we move and have to get a new box anyway.
Oh, all of my OFFICE eps will die when I move. Sad…

As a TV Blogger, its hard to find the time to watch all the shows you love (and sometimes hate) and to then find the time to write something entertaining for folks to read. You want the right blend of recap information along with personal comments, some snark, and hopefully plenty of humor. It’s a daunting task at times, espcially if you’re busy one night, or two nights, and then at your day job… its a spiraling down effect that all the sudden leaves you going, “Huh, it’s too late to talk about LOST now…”
So I’m going to quickly cover some of the shows I watched this past week in an effort to gear me up for this coming week. After the jump I’ll talk about The Black Donnellys, Top Model, Lost, The Riches, Supernatural, Degrassi, Ace of Cakes, 24, and Grey’s Anatomy.

I’m not going to give a full recap because seriously two hours is a long time and I’m a couple days behind now so…
24’s two hour event this week kicked major ass! This is how I like my 24. Sinister, Evil, Maniacal, Torturous, and Nuclear! I love that Chad Lowe and The Bisquit are consprining to assassinate President Palmer. Seriously could these Palmer’s catch a break in the over throwing department? Damn.
If it’s not an assassination, its something huge and it tickles me to think that Chad Lowe is hopefully setting The Bisquit up for a hard fall. Is it possible he’s been planted to fish The Bisquit out? Is he leading him into treason for good not evil? I hope so because seriously, Chad Lowe could catch a break.
Morris… a drill through your body? Man, that’s rough. Take all the time you need brother and no shame in helping the terrorists because they wouldn’t have made it past a punch in the face before I was like, let me press the button for you Mr. Terrorist!
James Cromwell might be the worst TV Dad in history. He’s killed one of his sons, plotted to have the other killed, threatened his daughter in law and is holding his grandson hostage with plans on killing him too. Humanitarian of the year! Freaky, scary ass dude. I cannot wait until next week when Show Killer tells Jack that his Father is behind all of this! It’s gonna be great.
By the end of Day 6 Jack may have successfully lost every member of his family (fingers still crossed that by day’s end that cougar will finally eat kim and this possible boy child thing will be a distant memory).
It’s only building and building folks, 24 can only get better from here!

Tonight on How I Met Your Mother the Stuper Bowl madness continues with cross over promotions that I don’t quite agree with over on CBS. When Barney, who has a lot riding on the game, misses the Super Bowl, he begs football legend Emmitt Smith for the score. Click here for a preview.
Day 6 continues on 24 as 12:00pm – 1:00pm wages on. I’ve only seen up until about 11:30pm so I don’t quite know what to tell ya other than two hours ago a frakkin’ nuke went off in LA! That’s crazy.
Heroes tells Chapter 14: “Distractions” For a slew of spoiler pics from tonights episode, click here and visit my friends over at Got-Heroes.com! I cannot wait to see Sylar head on over to the Bennett household. I worry about that dog. I worry everytime we see that dog that its days are numbered. Also, we got some serious George Takai to deal with tonight. What are the chances that he’s some mob head or something? Nothing better than some HEROES!
Studio 60 has Part 2 of “Harriett’s Dinner.” And regardless of what my friends Brian and Nancy have to say, I still love me some Harriett. I can’t wait to see how cutie patootie Tom gets away from that damn girl. She’s C-to-the-razy.

Because it’s too late and I’m too lazy today after the holiday…
GMMR’s got the scoop on LOST’s talks with ABC on setting an end date for the series.
While you’re over there, the girl did some major homework and writing to give us all the recap on the last 5 seasons of 24. And do not spoil the premiere of Season 6 for me. I’m only through the first of four hours and POOR JACK!

The following takes place between 9:45 and 9:47. I boycotted 24 after Season 3. Okay so I didn’t necessarily boycott it, I just stopped watching after Season 3. I was done with the format and the show for a while.
For some reason, this past weekend I decided I wanted to watch 24 this season so I’ve been spending time trying to catch up. I skipped Season 4 because seriously I don’t have that much time on my hands, but I did want to see the most recent and most raved about season… Day 5!
I’m currently on episode 8 and at lunch I’ll be watching the last episode of Disc 2 which I believe is 2:00 – 3:00. I’m loving it! I’m back. I’m hooked again!
I don’t know that I can catch up before Sunday night’s premiere but darnit I’m trying to get there!
PS – Charlene from Designing Women… INCREDIBLE!
