AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL Cycle 9 begins September 19th at 8pm. Can you believe that we’re on Cycle 9 already? Seems like yesterday when I was laughing my butt off watching mumble mouth Adrianne Curry catwalk her way through Season 1. In Season 2 I was obsessed with Yoanna House, she was a goddess and probably the best contestant in ANTM history. Eva Pigford brought the fabulous and short hair. Naimi Mora was a bore. Nicole Linkletter was beautiful but kind of dead. Dani was amazing! Cari Dee English was decent enough but annoying at times. Jaslene Gonzalez was drag queen ghetto fabulous!
Who will be AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL? Let’s start judging based on looks alone!
BIG BROTHER 8 and America’s Next Top Model have never really crossed before, but tonight… nope nevermind. They’ll still remain shows without a cross-over because there isn’t a chance in hell that Tyra wants Amber’s crazy crying out of shape ass up in her house!
If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, all you need to know is that Amber has the chubbiest splotchy red cry face with the crispiest mall hair this side of 1987 and a body the size of a wrestler – she’s so not model material. The best part though is that she and Jameka think she’s pretty enough and skinny enough to be a model. At one point she said that she has the face, the hair, and the personality to become America’s Next Top Model and there’s Jameka in the background going “um-hum.”
I was rolling! I was on the floor dying with laughter. It’s like saying I’d become a football player or a refrigerator… it’s just not happening! Delusion is so great!
The rest of the episode was semi-uneventful. There was a nude competition (Ducky heads online to find pics) where the girls won a 2 minute shopping spree and the boys lost their dignity once and for all. Dick and Daniele started fighting again because Dani is beyond annoyed with her crazy ass father. Eric continued to mack on Jessica, and I’m pretty sure Zach has lost a good amount of weight. His face looks skinnier.
Jessica nominated Amber and Zach. I almost dread to see who wins POV and if those nominations change. Right now they are perfect.
Raise your hands if you think High School Musical 2 will kick some booty tonight? My girl Kelly Clarkson is going to be performing! Work it girl. Also performing tonight, Fergie doing that damn song I love “Big Girls Don’t Cry” – no they don’t! Oh and hideous Avril Lavigne will perform too.

I normally wouldn’t even mention that the TEEN CHOICE AWARDS are on tonight, but as I was looking at the list of nominees, I couldn’t help wonder how old the teens are. God why do I love it so? TOP MODEL is a weakness! I tell myself every single season that I will not get sucked back in but I always do! While The CW has yet to release the contestant information or any photos from the Cycle 9 contestants this video is out there as a promo.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been this happy for a contestant to win America’s Next Top Model since crazy mush mouth Adrienne back in Cycle 1. Jaslene had the heart, the drive, the looks, and as we heard a zillion times tonight… the girl was FIERCE!
I really grew to love Jaslene and her Drag Queen qualities but she really worked at being ANTM8. She worked at changing her life and loving herself after being rejected from the Top 30 last season in Cycle 7. She came back with a vengance and worked it out!
The runway show was great and both Jaslene and Natasha kicked Cycle 7 winner Cari Dee’s ass out there on the catwalk. Both had amazing model walks with strong bitchy fierce poses and power steps. Great great great runway show!
Natasha, girl you made me laugh for weeks and weeks and I’m happy you came to America as a mail order bride and can now live the American dream but you had to go! This was all about my girl Jaslene!
I haven’t really been able to watch television for the week or two leading up to the Independent Film Festival of Boston but now that it’s over, I can play some catch up!
American Idol
I did not see last week’s charity head case known as American Idol “Idol Gives Back” and from the clips I’ve seen online and in the recaps, those white outfits were not so horrible I wouldn’t have been able to sustain three hours of it anyway. I got news of the double elimination sometime later in the week and until that point I was working under the notion that Jordin Sparks was kicked off. Yeah, someone played a cruel joke.
I was pleasantly surprised to find she in fact was not kicked off (nor was anyone). Then I got sent a picture of who until I received this picture was my new choice for winning this lame season of Idol. The picture is of Jordin with a Pro-Life sign. Guess who’s no longer my choice to win American Idol?
Last night The Alien and Chris Richardson got the boot. Oh well… as long as my Blake is there, that’s all that matters. How amazing is Blake? He’s unreal. And PS – A Chris Richardson/Blake Lewis sandwhich is pretty amazing to think about…
Heroes
5 Years into the future is way OOC! They did a really good job with moving the stakes of this show waaaaaaaay up! Insane how much went down this week. Peter looks manly with that scar and his ass is dating crazy Niki. Sylar’s killed a lot more people, including the President of the United States, Nathan Petrelli, Candice, and finally he has taken out the Cheerleader. HRG is in contact with Claire, works as a smuggler of kinds for those with abilities. The Haitian was working with Homeland Security which is now run by Parkman. Hiro’s bad ass subway sword Hiro and poor Ando’s dead. Unreal…
Brothers & Sisters
Can you imagine this show without Rob Lowe? Could Emily Van Camp be playing a more evil and twisted whore? Could Kevin’s lips be any more pink? Could Nora be any better? Could Justin be more of a wet blanket? Could Rachel Griffith be acting her ass off anymore? Still really enjoying this show!
Drive
Um, I started basically 24-hour festival duties on Tuesday and somewhere in that time, Fox cancelled DRIVE. I was wondering what happened Monday night because it didn’t record. Lame. I’m really digging the show and seriously, poor Amy Acker and Nathan Fillion NEED SHOWS THAT CAN SURVIVE!
Supernatural Folsom Prison Blues was a great episode. The ghouls and demons were wonderfully creepy and seriously, Dean was waaaaaaay funny this past week. I loved the whole “What are we? From Texas?” comment and also Sam asking Dean if he was at all concerned with how into Prison life he was. Jensen’s really had some shining moments this season and with each episode I become more and more of a fan. Also a nice added touch to last week’s episode were all the references to previous jobs and the consequences of their actions. I really appreciate that the writers keep that in our minds. Lesser shows wouldn’t even address previous criminal acts and I like the justified but incorrect way they rationalize all of it.
Grey’s Anatomy
While there were moments to last week’s episode that rang true for the Grey’s I used to love and adore, there are still elements that annoy the shit out of me. I couldn’t be more over this whole George/Izzie thing. It’s beyond obvious that Callie knows something is up and that the show is holding out on the confrontation until the end of sweeps. The whole Derek/Meredith thing is retarded. He’ll be in the hospital where she’ll be working, it’s so not the same sitch as Adele and Richard. All I kept thinking the whole episode was how great it would be if the spin-off was better than Grey’s so I could stop watching this Titanic of a show.
Lost
Last week’s Sun episode of Lost was friggin traumatic. Granted when I watched it, I’d had only about 10 hours of sleep in 5 days so I may have been hormonally off balance but hot damn did I cry through most of the episode. Sun’s transformation mimics that of Juliet’s. The character they are today on the island couldn’t be further from who they were off the island. Juliet was so mild and meek and such a wet blanket. Her demeanor is so different and more confident and ruthless since the 3 years have passed. Sun is similar. Her whole character and her whole physical being is different from flashback to present. Incredible acting and incredible transformations make both of these women compelling and strong while showing they weren’t always so.
And there is nothing better than watching Sun tell a withered old whore that she’ll drop of the power of her family onto her and crush her if she dare show her face around Sun or Jin again. Amen sister! Tears for Jin’s father, Tears for Sun’s situation, Tears for Juliet wanting to give good news, Tears for Sun discovering the baby really is Jin’s and being happy instead of devestated she’ll only have three months left to live. I was a soaking mess after that hour.
I don’t remember if I watched anything else. It was all a fog. I’m trying to play catch up but it’s hectic as I’m also moving in a week. More to come…
I will be away from a computer most of the day everyday from Thursday to Sunday as I am out of town and will then be travelling again.
*Update: Saw Top Model and thank goodness Whitney got the boot. She’s a gorgeous girl but seriously has the deadest photos of any contestant on any cycle. Bad model, good looker. I hate that I felt something other than disgust and disdain for Renee. Damn the heart felt reunion. While I’m at it, could these young girls have more children? This ain’t America’s Next Teenage Mother! And what the hell was Tyra wearing? For reals…
Sitting in a hotel for 7 days will inevitably make you watch things like the first episode of Sheer Genius. Sheer Crap is more like it. Oy with the bitchy gays and the old faces on this show. And I’m not just talking about Jacqueline Smith and the Shane (L Word) look alike hosting this thing. I cannot get sucked into another show. I refused (until next week I’m sure).
The Office was incredible this week! I love how quickly it turned from Michael trying to prove a point to Michael truly being talked down from the roof of Dunder Mifflin. Creed and the Great Potato Switcheroo was genius. All of the betting was classic Office. Love that Michael was the one that broke Darrell’s ankle. Andy’s back, sorry Drew. And finally there was nothing funnier than the Star Trek wall of Shunning that could come shunned or unshunned when needed. Way to go Dundies!
Original post: I wanted to quick write and say that the finale of Friday Night Lights was incredible. It was moving, emotional, and heart warming and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 8 has really only begun on the CW but next season’s wannabe’s are already strutting their stuff in hopes of becoming America’s Next Top Model.
I previously reported about the open casting for Boston but I wanted to bring you a great article on this past weekend’s open casting in New York City!
NYTimes was there for all the cat walking, cat clawing, and diva attitudes as throngs of gangly whatzitz bitch slapped each other for a spot on ANTM9. Here’s a sneak peek…
Early Saturday morning the line was long and raggedy, erratic and agitated, littered with empty coffee cups and the sleepless faces, which creased in the sunlight, of beautiful women on a casting call for the show’s ninth season.
The line started outside the Park Central hotel at Seventh Avenue and West 55th Street, turned the corner at Broadway and then doubled back onto West 56th Street. That very few of the 1,500 women standing there looked like models, in the very narrowly defined sense of high fashion, did not appear to be of importance. A contrapposto stance and the impatient tapping of high heels suggested that in each posing applicant there existed the confidence of an inner Naomi Campbell.
“I love Naomi because she is a diva,” said Bianca Golden, 18, who towered over the competition standing at 5 feet 11 inches, plus stilettos.
Top Model was on last night, and seriously the 8pm hour is too crowded on Wednesdays. I was not home until after 9 so that didn’t help but I was able to watch Top Model, Idol and Lost (Friday Night Lights got pushed until tonight). That’s a good amount of TV considering I wasn’t home until 9.
I’ve got no ability to pick these models. I know another one of my girls didn’t go home last night. I really liked Felicia. I was so sick of Tyra comparing Felicia to herself and then kicking her off for not being 100% on game this week. Seriously, how about we get rid of that wretched twunt Renee or the lifeless and pointless Russian mail-order bride? Why you gotta be hatin’ on the prettiest girl in the bunch?
I’ve also got beef with the editing of the show. This week was the first time all season that we got more than two words out of Felicia and then you kick her out? I knew it was coming because they finally showed that she had personality, talent, and balls – which on reality tv means you’re going home if all the sudden it shows up out of nowhere. They were saving it until you really like a character then BAM. Sorry, gone.
And whats with Tyra’s hair lately? Seriously those oversized shirt sleeve headbands are out of control. Was her weave falling out? What’s the deal there?
Lastly, how tactless was it for them to have a death shoot just days after Jael’s friend died? Granted, production schedules are planned well in advance and you can’t just switch the shoot but someone should have been there to tell Jay about it so he’s not all annoyed and like, “What’s your deal Jael?” Um, maybe she can’t get into the shoot because she’s lying there like the corpse her idiot friend really is. Seriously.
If they don’t kick out Renee next week, I might have to find a way to have her OD.
As a TV Blogger, its hard to find the time to watch all the shows you love (and sometimes hate) and to then find the time to write something entertaining for folks to read. You want the right blend of recap information along with personal comments, some snark, and hopefully plenty of humor. It’s a daunting task at times, espcially if you’re busy one night, or two nights, and then at your day job… its a spiraling down effect that all the sudden leaves you going, “Huh, it’s too late to talk about LOST now…”

America’s Next Top ModelCycle 9 will be casting in Boston on Tuesday, April 10, 2007. They are seeking 9-14 girls to compete in next Fall’s competition to be shot this summer.
If you’re interested, be at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel near Faneuil Hall Marketplace on April 10th between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
The requirements:
- Must be a girl, duh… no trannies allowed.
- Between the ages of 18-27
- Must be at least 5′7″
- Must be US Citizen
Top Modelis back and seriously, it really is better than ever. Not only are the models some of the prettiest and/or most model-y that they’ve ever had, they now have an unbelievable number of crazy ass personalities. In the past its either been pretty without personality or personality without model beauty and this season they’ve got it all! I couldn’t be more excited.
Last week’s kickoff, Kathleen was one of the funniest girls to ever grace reality television. I’m so sad she’s not on the show anymore because her stupidity was paramount! Her accent, her slow manner of speech, and her lost looks were seriously genius. I couldn’t get enough of this girl and though she was missed this week, the void was quickly filled by the second best (and by best I mean, most outrageous and entertaining) girl on the show – the loveable kook Jaslene.
Not since Jade has there been a girl as full of herself and tv friendly as Jaslene. She’s an ego-maniac but not evil and vengeful like Jade was. She so far doesn’t have any Jadebonics but she does have quite the manner of speech. Her Latina NY Accent (though she’s from Chicago) is hardcore and hysterical to listen to. Kathleen and Jaslene carrying on a conversation was like listening to Rosie Perez double talking in a mirror. Out of control.
America’s Next Top Model Jael has gone the way of American Idol’s Antonella Barba. No, this one’s not a saint either. I’m amazed at how many reality contestants of the moment are showing skin online.
Not kidding, you’d think I was Fatback & Collards with all the straight male type pics I’ve been posting or linking too around here. But, if a girl on a reality show I cover is going to go nude, I’m going to cover it.

Tonight’s television schedule is seriously causing me so much stress. It’s not the worst night of television because of content of lack there of… it’s the worst night of television because there is too much on!
At 8pm alone, I have 3 shows (the 4th got the boot a week ago). America’s Next Top Model, American Idol, and Friday Night Lights are all on at 8pm. Even the best of multi-taskers cannot accomodate that schedule. Tivo can only do 2 things at once. What’s a TV fan to do? I mean, I already dropped Knights of Prosperity to allow room for Idol and now I’m forced with this decision? It’s Just Wrong!
I think I may have to wait for Top Model to be rerun (Sunday at 8pm) and watch it that way. Both Jon and I worship Idol and FNL so those can’t be delayed. But I love me some Top Model too.
America’s Next Top Model Cycle 8 begins tonight and I for one cannot wait. I’m a sucker for these divas in training. These anorexic prom queens looking to take it to another level. These gluttons for punishment and extreme beauty. But who am I kidding, I really tune in to see what Tyra’s gonna wear (something cinched at her waist), what Ms. J will catwalk to, and how silver Mr. Jay’s hair can get. Seriously, is it dyed with liquid metal?
