My name is Ducky, well really it’s Dan but whatever, and I’m a BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fan who’s about to have a heart attack. I’m freaking out that BSG’s final 10 episodes kick off tonight but with my happy freak out comes a little bit of hyperventilation and fear.
I’m nervous to find out who the final cylon is (apparently it will be revealed tonight).
I’m nervous that the last 10 episodes won’t rock my frakkin’ world.
I’m nervous that I’ve got my hopes, dreams and expectations for my human and cylon friends up too high and that Ron Moore and Co. can never live up to what I’ve concocted in my twisted yet simple little mind.
I’m nervous that my girl Starbuck will come to a horrible demise. She’s such a hothead and so reactionary that I worry about Kara. I love the bitch and want good things for her. So from my blog to the Gods, let it be… so say we all!
I’m nervous that we’ll never see Lee Adama in a towel again (now that’s enough to send me to a mental institute)
I’m nervous that the things I want to see happen won’t (and no I’m not talking about Gaeta going down on Lee but now that I think about it….).
I’m nervous because I love it and don’t want it to go away with anything less than being the best television it can be. I want a finale that rocks my world, not one like Seinfeld that is fun but falls short.
I need to stop thinking about it and just breathe. Can someone pass me a brown paper bag with the corners cut off so I can do some breathing exercises?
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s final 10 episodes kick off tonight at 10pm on Sci-Fi
We hope everyone got some great TV goodies over the holidays because we sure did. Kath and I talk about what TV Boyfriends were under their trees, what TV presents they got and even fill you in on some of the things keeping them apart for the last 6 weeks.
There’s news to be had, Christmas CHUCK to rehash, the demise of PUSHING DAISIES to cry about, PRIVILEGED to complain about, GOSSIP GIRL to gossip about and did I mention that we’ve both seen the first two hours of LOST Season 5! Sorry, had to throw that in just be to bitchy…
You asked what we thought of all the new and returning shows that will fill our winter and spring with good cheer and discontent and we’ve answered.
We’ve got screeners galore to chit-chat about… DAMAGES, THE CLOSER, UNITED STATES OF TARA, TRUST ME, 24 and more. We even touch on some shows that don’t have air dates like CUPID and BETTER OFF TED.
Sci-Fi Wire has posted an exclusive 90 second scene from what is presumably the first of the final 10 episodes of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!
Click on the video below to watch the entire clip and to see why life on Earth may be a bigger bitch than D’Anna. You’ll see Tigh, Roslin, Bill, Anders, Helo and others as they take in the condition of their new home. After seeing Lee looking all distraught, tell me you don’t want to snuggle and tell him everything will be okay!
If you thought CAPRICA was going to be just another BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, this new clip from the pilot should prove you wrong. Who knew it could be so racy and nasty down on Caprica? Ms. Cylon if you’re nasty!
Um… murder fantasies, group sex and drugs, offering up virgins and then there’s even a section that has the “gross” stuff? Frak, Caprica is hardcore! I cannot wait!
If you’ve never watched BATTLESTAR GALACTICA before, I recommend you get the DVD’s and catch up on the awesomeness before the last 10 episodes begin on January 16th. If you don’t have time to watch the entire series before January rolls around how about a killer 13 minute recap to catch you the frak up?

This week I got the chance to join a call with some other TV Bloggers to help promote Tricia Helfer’s upcoming stint on Burn Notice. You know and love Helfer from her role as Caprica 6 on the fraktacular Battlestar Galactica and I’m happy to say I love her more now than I ever did before.
On with the Q&A where she’ll talk the end of Battlestar, her new pilot Inseparable and her new role as Carla on Burn Notice!
Panel: Can you start off telling us what is Carla’s back story and how many of the episodes are you going to be in in season two?
T. Helfer: I’m going to be in, I think, seven episodes of the 16 being done. I’m in the first two, and I think the season finale, and then will be in 2009’s episodes as well.
To be completely honest, I really don’t know much of Carla’s back story. Just as she’s mysterious to Michael, she’s also mysterious to the audience, and I think we’ll learn more about her as Michael does and the audience does. At this point, I’ve only filmed the first two episodes, so I have yet to discover a lot about Carla myself. I do know that she was a spy, and that she is now the public face of the organization that burns Michael. So she is definitely in a leadership position, and, at this point, pretty much ordering Michael around.
Panel: Is it difficult coming into a show that’s already become an established hit? I know with Battlestar, I think you were the face of Battlestar Galactica for several months before the series, but here with Burn Notice it’s already had a season and is very well known.
T. Helfer: It’s always daunting going into a show as a guest in a guest role, but with Burn Notice, I honestly can’t say how wonderful they were and how welcoming they were to me. When I first signed on, Jeffrey e-mailed me and welcomed me on, and it’s just nice knowing you’re going down to an open, warm environment, and that people are looking forward to working with you and that type of thing. I sat down with Matt Nix before I went down, and we had a good chat. He gave me a bit of a story arc at that point before they had started filming. Things are still being written, so I could get a broad overview, but no specifics really.
It’s definitely easier starting in the beginning with the whole cast and crew, but stepping into a show that you can see and you can see the tone of the show, it’s easier to try and fit in, knowing how they’re going and what they’re looking for. There are pros and cons to both, but they were absolutely welcoming to me. (more…)
I just got off the call with Tricia Helfer, that frakkin’ kick ass actress from Battlestar Galactica and now Burn Notice and I’m happy to say I love her more now than I ever did before.
While I won’t have the full interview up for another day or so, I wanted to quick share some of the highlights about her stint with Michael Westen on Burn Notice, her plans for Comic-Con and her role as Mason on the Fox pilot Inseparable.
Comic-Con and Battlestar Galactica:
Tricia confirmed that she will be attending the BSG Comic-Con panel and that the theme this year is Cylon/Human Couples. So far she knows that Six & Baltar will share the stage with Starbuck & Anders. Frak, that sounds awesome!
I asked her about whether or not there is hope for the humans and the cylons now that they’ve discovered a devastated Earth and she seemed optomistic without revealing a frakkin’ thing (damn, those trained to not spoil). She thinks that the cylons that are in cooperation with the humans will work together and keep pushing forward, that they have to keep trying because that’s their nature.
She heads back to Vancouver for the final shots of the Battlestar Galactica series tomorrow and the mood on set is frantic. She said that instead of everyone being relaxed and laid back like she thought it would be, everyone is crazy busy and trying to cram so much into their normal production schedule so everyone is like walking zombies up there in Canada.
Being her first series finale, she doesn’t know how she’ll feel when she walks off the lot for the last time but she imagines it will be rough.
Tricia Helfer talks Burn Notice:
Her character Carla will torment Michael even when she’s not on screen. Even though she’s only shot the first two episodes of the season, she’s done some call in work for upcoming episodes where she’ll be taunting our gang via cell phone. As she put it, “Carla is always watching!”, so while she may not be on the show, that’s all the rest of the characters are talking about. Loves it!
She believes that she’ll be in 7 episodes total. 2 this half of the season (the summer portion) and 5 when the show returns for the second half of Season 2 in early 2009. So yeah, but boo… that means we’re getting very little Burn Notice this summer. Probably 8 eps before disappearing.
She has yet to film a scene with Gabriel Anwar’s Fiona but assumes that those scenes will not be pretty. She’s dying to see what happens between them though! Aren’t we all sista!!!
What about Fox’s new pilot INSEPARABLE?
She plays a police psychologist named Mason who has treated the main character both before his paralyzing accident and after so she knows the heart of this man.
Her character is not in the pilot that much but becomes a larger focus as the next few episodes unfold.
It looks like Inseparable will be a mid-season show for Fox’s early 2009 schedule.
She was incredibly energetic, fun, and chatty for it being 8am in Los Angeles. I have to say that she’s my new BFF and just doesn’t realize it. Katee Sackoff watch you ass! Do you think she would pull my bicycle behind her hog or get me a sidecar? Helfer, call me!
We promised you a SUMMER TV PREVIEW podcast and here it is! Kath and I run through all of the summer premiere dates for the new and returning shows as well as give you our input on our faves and more importantly the ones we would never watch in a million years! It’s great fun…
So You Think You Can Dance, The Closer, Big Brother, My Boys, The Mole, The Next Food Network Star, Design Star, Swingtown, Fear Itself, Army Wives, Ice Road Truckers, America’s Best Dance Crew, Wipeout, Flashpoint, Psych, Monk, Mad Men, The Middleman, Burn Notice and more… there’s no reason to be outside when what’s on TV is this hot!
Wow, Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica’s Six) is one hot cylon commodity. Not only will she be taunting and tormenting Michael Westen on Burn Notice this summer, she’s now got a new gig lined up over at FOX.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, she’s signed on as the female lead in Shaun Cassidy’s new drama INSEPARABLE.
“Inseparable,” from ABC Studios and writer/exec producer Shaun Cassidy, is a modern-day Jekyll and Hyde tale about Justin/Clyde (Lloyd Owen), a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist with a split personality whose alter ego is a charismatic criminal.
Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica”) will play Mason Wicks, a psychiatrist who evaluates suspects for the police department. The casting stems from the talent holding deal Helfer inked with Fox in April.
I don’t know about any of you but I spent a good portion of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s mid-season finale “Revelations” on the edge of my seat and on the verge of tears. We all know I’m a total pussy and that I can cry at the drop of a hat but damn if there weren’t some moments last night that damn near slayed me.
First of all I’d just like to say that one of the most gratifying yet heartbreaking moments of the entire night was watching Col. Tigh reveal to Bill Adama that after 30+ years of friendship, he was in fact one of the final 5 cylons. The circumstance was perfect and Tigh’s fear, anxiety and need to do the right thing not only damn near killed him, it had my stomach in knots. I was so nervous for his reveal and the reaction Adama would have that I had the only reaction Adama had… tears. Huge kudos to both Edward James Olmos for breaking his tough exterior to show how absolutely devastated his character was and to Michael Hogan for running every emotion possible through that one frakkin’ eye. Two powerhouses going at each other and it was pure genius.
I’d also like to give a huge shout out to Katee Sackhoff and Jamie Bamber for their incredible performances in “Revelations.” President Adama aka Lee aka Apollo was put to task and he came out with not only the respect of the entire fleet but finally the respect of President Roslin. Laura’s one hard-ass woman and those two have had a tenuous past at best. Lee was vulnerable and scared out of his frakkin’ mind but he came across as powerful, thoughtful and headstrong when the fleet needed him most. When he almost airlocked Tigh, Bamber was hot business and then he broke me in those final moments with Roslin as he relinquished his position.
Katee Sackhoff was given the Emmy getting storylines this season. After thinking she may never return to the show toward the end of last season, it was great to see her role beefed up and her relevance to the end game so essential. The moment that got me during the finale was her realization that yes Virginia, Sam Anders is a frakkin’ toaster. Go back and watch what Sackhoff did with just a slight change or two in her eyes. Breathtaking! Who else almost pissed themselves as she was trying to get to Lee before he flushed Tigh? Killer pacing, editing and musical accompaniment.
I was happy to see some sort of common ground finally reached between Gaius and Laura. Those two have been at odds since the mini-series so I was happy to see some level of respect between them. Bury the hatchet already because you bitches have to find Earth!
And let’s talk about Earth. Again, I was a big old wet mess of tears from the moment Laura gave the order to jump to earth all the way to the credits. I always knew that they would never find the utopian Earth they’d envisioned but I never expected it to be as bad as it really was.
The worst case scenario I picked was that the entire fleet and cylon base ship would jump into Earth’s atmosphere and us humans would shit ourselves and send nukes flying toward Galactica! I thought there was going to be some big battle to protect Earth and eventually our Galactica pals would be accepted and allowed to remain but wow did that go a totally different direction… for the better.
I’ve never seen a more sullen and defeated bunch than those sad sacks from the remaining colonies standing on the shores of a decimated and post-apocalyptic Earth. These guys can’t catch a break! New Caprica was probably a luxury resort compared to the shit storm they’re facing on Earth. NYC looks like hell. It brought me much sadness while at the same time such joy. It was the perfect ending, the ultimate slap in the face and I loved it!
I’m dying that we have to wait until a yet undetermined time to see how the end of the entire series will play out.
As it looks now, the show will not return until sometime in 2009 so bust out those DVD’s this summer and start from the beginning… rediscover the genius that is BSG and for fraks-sake, get some of your friends hooked if they aren’t already. Don’t let a fan of great television miss out on one of the best shows ever created. So say we all!
It pains me that tonight will be the last BATTLESTAR GALACTICA episode until sometime in 2009. Pains!
While some folks have flip-flopped on whether this season has been good or not, I feel like they’ve been pretty consistent all along. I’m psyched to see what the last 9 episodes have been leading up to and from the preview below, it looks like all finally will be revealed.
Watch a preview of BSG “Revelations” and then we’ll talk some more.
Um, does Starbuck say “those 3 cylons” in reference to Tigh, Tryol and Anders or is that some clever editing trickery? After last week’s Roslin/Adama reunion of love I’ll be sad to see Tigh and Bill go at it as the ultimate betrayal is revealed. I could go on all day with what I want to see happen but I won’t because I’m trying not to gear myself up for a disappointment. I will now sit quietly until 10pm…
