Deborah Starr Seibel at TVGuide has been spending some seriously envious time with the So You Think You Can Dance crew and is reporting all the juicy gossip for us.

Why did Jessi Peralta go home? Nigel Lythgoe finally fesses up:

“For two weeks, Jessi was ill,” says Lythgoe. “The first week, we got her through it. But the second week she went to the hospital.” Lythgoe owns up to the charge that Peralta was sent packing in part because of her health. “I won’t speak for the other judges,” says Lythgoe, “but for me personally, yes, I did take that into account.”

Does Danny Tidwell have pierced genitalia?

The pinched expression on contemporary dancer Danny Tidwell’s face Wednesday night as the judges argued over whether his problem connecting with the audience was the result of his perceived arrogance. Tidwell’s expression had little to do with the discussion about his attitude — he was battling tremendous physical discomfort and his closed, tight face hid the fact that he probably wanted to scream. “He had four safety pins pricking his testicles because he’d split his pants,” explains executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe, shaking his head after tonight’s results show. “You never give a dancer safety pins, and he had four of them up there.”

Does Benji Schwimmer mind giving the spotlight up to his sister Lacey over technical ability?

“Not at all,” he says, hanging out backstage after the show. “I taught her, so that’s just a credit to my teaching abilities. Of course she’s more technical than I am, because she’s had one more teacher than I had — me.”

Who’s injured, who’s not, who’s hot and who’s just slammed their head into the ground when TVGuide goes backstage with So You Think You Can Dance.

So You Think You Can Dance

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE RESULTS SHOW

Let’s not pussyfoot around. Shauna Noland and Cedric Garnder were sent home last night on a semi-bloated hour of So You Think You Can Dance.

Shauna Noland Cedric Gardner

Was it time for either or both to go? I’m not sure. I 100% believe it was time for Cedric to go home. He had learned a ton while on the show, he’d grown as a dancer, as a person and scored himself a sweet free ride to the Debbi Allen Dance Academy. Can’t beat that. I think he was proud of his performances and I think that he knew it was his time to go (two weeks ago)…

Shauna on the other hand was totally screwed. There’s a part of me that didn’t mind her going home, but then there was that part of me that thinks she got the short end of that dance stick. Nigel complained that she didn’t grow much during the course of the season and that she isn’t showing the potential needed to stay around at this stage of the game. That may fully be the case but come on… YOU GAVE HER CRAP PARTNERS!

Jimmy was a good dancer, but they had zero chemistry together and never connected. Cedric was like dancing with a first year at Hogwarts. Shauna was Hermione and Cedric, Neville Longbottom. It was never going to work and how could Hermione grow if she’s always left behind because of Neville’s shortcomings? What am I talking about here?

Farewell you two, good luck and sorry but we’ve got to move on!

I’d like to say I so called the Bottom 3, but patting myself on the back seems pointless when there’s more to chat about.

I was at GMMR’s all night watching the show and podcasting then podcasting again because we had a pretty major technical difficulty and I didn’t get home until well into the hours of Thursday.

That being said, I have watched last night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and will be working on a recap as best I can throughout the morning. Stay Tuned

This clip from Season 2 of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE is in my mind because of the amazing song by Imogen Heap called “Hide and Seek.” Not only has the song been featured numerous times this season, it was played numerous times on my iPod this past weekend.

SYTYCD Choreographer Mia Michaels plotted out this routine featuring our faves from Season 2 and after rewatching it right now, I can only hope that this season can pull something out like this. There’s so much passion, artistry, and pain in this piece that its just simply beautiful. God I still love Travis and watching this makes me think noone can live up to that hype…

It’s Wednesday and that means tonight is all about SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE over on Fox. While some of you might think that the dance show is live, it’s not. It’s recorded Monday nights, aired on Wednesday and then they go live on Thursday.

Before I get to the spoiler of what couples danced which routines, I wanted to bring you this treat. Please let this be the group number this week. Here’s an amazing video of Gwen Verdon doing some 60’s Bob Fosse (thanks to pheoboy for the video):

Here are the couples and their routines for Wednesday, June 20th:

There’s so much hatred out there on the internet for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Finalist Lacey Schwimmer that I had to go out and gather up some support for the girl.

    Support Team Lacey
    Team Lacey Schwimmer

Sure she’s the Youth Swing Champ and she’s what’s his name’s sister but she’s shown nothing but professionalism, personality, and some kick ass moves. LACEY SCHWIMMER is here to stay!

Here’s the crazy red gloved, sliders, pants dropping bulge showing performance from tonight’s results episode of So You Think You Can Dance Season 3.

So You Think You Can Dance

So You Think You Can Dance sent two contestants home tonight and one of them I’m sure will cause quite the shockwave. I’m still stunned at the decision the Judges came to tonight. I’m just gonna get it out of the way so, get ready…

So You Think You Can Dance
So You Think You Can Dance started off their official competition with a serious bang tonight! It was amazing to see Cat up there high atop her perch from the moment the show began and it was so wonderful seeing the huge studio audience getting so involved emotionally at such an early stage. It was also amazing to just see the stage and how wonderful it all looks in HD again. My fears were squashed instantly about getting invested in the new crop of dancers. The energy and the momentum were instant, it also helped that the gender timed catwalk was back in effect. The emotional attachments, the love and the hate were there and familiar. I heart this show so much…

In case you came into the competition late last year, here’s how the first couple weeks work. The Top 20 are paired up and given a genre of dance. Then we vote! The next night the bottom 3 couples, or the 6 dancers with the least number of votes dance solos and the judges (not us) decide who goes home. This continues week after week until we hit the Top 10 when its a free for all amongst the Top 10 and we control who stays and goes.

    Onto the dancers!

Wait, before we go there! I almost died when they did the Top 20 journey so far recap video and played a memory shocker from my youth: “Believe in the Beat” from BREAKIN‘!!!! Carol Lynn Townes never did anything after this song (I’m sure of it) but damnit if she didn’t leave us with a gem that instanly brought be back to Ozone and Special K (the characters not some rave drugs).

    Okay, now onto the dancers:

So You Think You Can Dance
One thing is abundantly clear after two weeks of auditions on Fox’s summer smash So You Think You Can Dance. A lot of idiots do indeed think that they can dance. None of those idiots however have the last name of Schwimmer.

Seriously, what is in the Morman water out west that’s helping produce these genetic dancebots in the Schwimmer clan? Season Two Winner Benji Schwimmer was accompanied in the final four by his Cousin Heidi. Last night, he returned to the show not as a Judge like many of us had assumed but as a dance partner for his little sister Lacey Schwimmer. Benji’s just a character and I love him. His sister was equally as talented and she’s like the Youth Swing Dance Champion or something. Love her and she needs to make it to the Top!

Loved that Yesi girl who auditioned and had Shane Sparks jumping for joy. Girl’s got some girth but she can move like you wouldn’t believe! She’s got a great energy, spirit, and technique and I cannot wait to see what she brings to the table if she makes it past Vegas. Go Girl!

While we’re still talking Shane, can we talk about Phillip, the Pop-Locker that actually brought a tear to Shane Sparks’ eye? Tears folks, a grown macho hip hopping man was reduced to tears at the unreal talent this kid has. I’ve never seen popping like this, he was sick and I swear he’s got rubber for bones. His arms would wave in ways noone’s arms should be able to wave unless they’ve just broken it in 14 places skateboarding on MTV’s Scarred. This is the video I’ll be searching for most today. If someone finds it first, please email Ducky and let me know!

*Update: Emily (we heart you) found the video of Phillip Chbeeb popping in his So You Think You Can Dance audition.

I loved the two alternakids that were doing old school dirty 20s style swing dancing. The tragic couple where he’s sickly in love with his dance partner yet she’s betrothed to another back in NYC and in her eyes they’re “just friends.” There was something about their unpolished and nasty swing that made me love them. First of all, they’ve both got personality out of the ass and they’re just darn cute. I hope one or both make it in Vegas. I know some will criticize them because they’re not the polished package that Benji and people of the West Coast Swing are but I think this is a great alternative to the norm and if they can pull it off, wonderful! I’m rooting for them.

Last night we were introduced to yet another descendent of the Schwinging Schwimmers, Lacey. Yes, the So You Think You Can Dance Winners’ sister can shake her bon bons as well.

Here are some quick videos I found of Lacey Schwimmer online. The first is of Lacey and Benji together at the DEMAND benefit that Benji has been working on. This is a fairly recent video because she looks as she did on the show last night!

Another Benji and Lacey clip from the Reno Dance Sensation 2007. It starts with Benji doing his thang then we get some Lacey:

Here’s one of Lacey and Benji as well as a whole dance troupe.

And finally, a clip without the help of her brother, here is one from the 2006 Swing Diego showcase with dancer Pete Green. Rocking the blonde!

I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing lots more of Lacey Schwimmer as Season three of So You Think You Can Dance progresses. The girls got the genes!

Big huge shout out to reader and fellow So You Think You Can Dance obsessee Emily for sending me this video of My BF Travis Wall and GMMR’s Jailbait Ivan. As you probably know by now, Travis and Ivan moved out of their respective states and hit the Hollywood hills together. They’re shacked up together and it seems like they’re the new Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, the new Stiller and Meara , Steve and Edie, Punch and Judy…

Here are Travis and Ivan performing at the 2007 New York Dance Alliance.

My BF Travis is looking a little bigger in the upper body area and there ain’t nothing wrong with that! Jailbait looks like Gumby next to Travis (sorry GMMR) and that means he’s string bean city because Travis is a wee little man.

Let the obsession continue, here’s another video of Travis performing at this years NYCDA.

And another video of Ivan performing a KILLER routine. This is the video to wet your pants over; this kid is amazing!

Don’t forget that tonight, the audition process for Season 3 continues in Los Angeles and Chicago. Two hours of Nigel, Mary, and Cat! Who can ask for more than that? Oh you can? Well, how about Season 2 winner Benji Schwimmer? Oh yes fans, he will be back for the auditions process tonight and we cannot wait to see him!

So You Think You Can Dance

Last summer’s mega-Fox-hit So You Think You Can Dance does the quickstep into our hearts again when it premieres Season 3 on Thursday, May 24th. The best part? It’s a 90 minute premiere!!! The show settles into it’s regular time slots of Wednesdays at 8pm for competition, and Thursdays at 9pm for eliminations after auditions.

As you know all too well (or you better), last summer my big obsession was SYTYCD. GMMR, Lil Jenn, Jessica, and I all went to their tour as well (that’s how crazed we were) and stalked our summer TV Crushes. I went after My BF Travis Wall. GMMR evaded Prison by worshiping Jailbait Ivan from afar. Lil Jenn tried not to grope Natalie and Jessica tried not to think we were the biggest freaks ever.

It was a summer full of laughs, tears, extreme slamming of reality contestants and in the end, Hero Worship. The cast of characters was unbelievable, the talent even better, and I think we found the best reality host this side of Seacrest in that foxy brit, Cat Deeley!

    Cat Deeley

Cat’s back, as are Judges Nigel Lythgoe, Screamin’ Mary Murphy, Shane Sparks, Mia Michaels, Dan Karaty, Brian Friedman, and this year they’ve added wonder boy Wade Robson to the mix (at least for Auditions – which means I’m sure he’ll be back for more).

Ian BenardoNew York auditions are first (god help us if Ian Benardo shows up wearing Paula Abdul as a boa), the following week we get to see the dancing hopefuls of Los Angeles, Chicago, (Wednesday, May 30th at 8pm) and Atlanta the following night at 9pm.

The Las Vegas Round will air Wednesday, June 6 (9pm) and Thursday, June 7 (9pm), when the top 20 finalists – 10 males and 10 females – will be announced.

Then it will be up to us America to help decide who stays in the competition.

The first performance show featuring the Top 20 dancers will air Wednesday, June 13 (8pm). The following night, Thursday, June 14 (9pm), the first LIVE results show revealing America’s vote will air, and one male and one female performer will be sent home.

    Are we ready? Hells Yeah!

In preparation, let’s take a look back at my obsession… My BF Travis Wall.

I helped coordinate people from all around the country (and Canada, hey!) who went to the performances and had them write up some goodies and send in some photos. So if you were as obsessed as I, these are a must read.
