Joss Whedon’s upcoming DOLLHOUSE just got a little more enticing for me! If the reteaming of Joss and Faith wasn’t enough to get the geek blood flowing, throw in a little Battlestar Galactica hotness and I’m hard already!
Helo Tahmoh Penikett will join the cast as an FBI Agent hot on Echo’s trail. Better than frakkin’ a toaster, oh wait… Echo’s not much more than a toaster though is she? Guess we’ll find out this fall!
Tahmoh Penikett as Paul Smith: 30s, good looks hardened by a cynical distaste for most of humanity. An FBI field agent, he’s been chasing the urban myth of the Dollhouse long enough to have lost any shot at promotion. Becomes obsessed with and a twisted romantic foil for Echo (Eliza Dushku).
Fran Kranz as Topher Brink: 20s, genius programmer who’s articulate, nerdily attractive and blithely amoral. He’s responsible for imprinting the Dolls—and making sure they stay unaware of anything. Is fascinated by the science and kind of digging the illegality. Fun to be around but might not be remotely trustworthy.
Dichen Lachman as Sierra: 20s, Asian (or certainly not Caucasian). Strikingly beautiful. A Doll like Echo, she has every personality in the world but her own. Is not as self-aware as Echo but is instinctively drawn to her as a friend.
Enver Gjokaj as Victor: 20s, handsome and fit. A Doll, and the other closest thing to a friend Echo has. Childlike when he’s inactive, and everything from Errol Flynn to a young DeNiro when he’s active.
I hope that some of the other Whedonverse kids make it into the cast as well. I’d love to see Amber Benson, Charisma Carpenter, Tom Lenk, Alan Tudyk or Sean Maher back on my tube week to week.
EW.com has posted the first pictures of the castaways for SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA which pits 10 Superfans against 10 Survivor Alumni. Survivor 16 premieres February 7th at 8/7c on CBS.
The Superfans
[From 1-10] Michael Bortone, 34 (Writer/Actor - Los Angeles); Tracy Hughes-Wolf, 43 (Commercial Builder - Fredericksburg, VA); Joel Anderson, 32 (Firefighter - Avondale, AZ); Kathleen Sleckman, 45 (Golf Course Vendor - Glen Ellyn, IL); Erik reichenbach, 22 (Ypsilanti, MI); Mary Sartain, 29 (Small Business Owner - Emeryville, CA); Chet Welch, 28 (Beauty Pageant Coach - Ford City, PA); Natalie Bolton, 32 (Personal Trainer - West Hollywood, CA); Jason Siska, 22 (Student Teacher - Fox Fiver Grove, IL); Alexis Jones, 24 (Motivational Speaker - Beverly Hills, CA)
The Survivor Alumni
[From 11-20] Cirie Fields, 37 (Panama); Jonathan Penner, 45 (Cook Islands); Amanda Kimmel, 23 (China); James Clement, 30 (China); Ozzy Lusth, 26 (Cook Islands); Yau-Man Chan, 44 (Fiji); Eliza Orlins, 25 (Vanuatu); Johnny Fairplay, 33 (Pearl Islands); Parvati Shallow, 25 (Cook Islands); Ami Cusack, 34 (Vanuatu)
Ducky’s Thoughts: I really enjoy the idea of Super Fans taking on the returning Alumni but some of these Alums suck ass. Johnny Fairplay is a total twunt and deserves no more screentime on any show other than a blurb in the not so far future where a talking head reads his lame obituary. Yau-Man, I know everyone loved him but yawn city. Amanda from China sucks, she thinks she’s hot shit but really she’s just cold diarrhea (thank you Margaret Cho).
Now I also love some of these contestants! I’m super psyched to see the lesbian Ami Cusack back! She was one of my favorite competitors from Vanuatu and this is as good as seeing someone like Burned Hands Mike back. Ami kick some ass girl, oh and while you’re at it please drop Johnny Fairplay on his face like Bonaduce did. I beg of you. I also really like Jonathan that actor turned Survivor. He’s an ass but in a good way. Cirie, girl you know I got a soft spot for you. Glad to see you back in my life!
As for the newbies, I don’t have much to say other than HELLO BEAUTY PAGEANT COACH! I can only hope he passes his time using pigs blood to rouge the girls cheeks, sticks to tease their hair into unfathomable designs and makes them practice catwalking.
Even though I’ve not seen last week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, I sadly found out who got kicked off thanks to a CW press release. Blurg!
Well, here’s some exciting news about the show itself. Cycle 10 (back in NYC) will have a new Judge. Living Legend and Fashion Icon TWIGGY is leaving the show due to “scheduling conflicts” which probably means she’s bored to tears and Supermodel/Actress/Spokesperson PAULINA PORIZKOVA is in!
Paulina is the wife of The Cars Ric Ocasek which is only one of the reasons she kicks ass. She’ll bring some much needed energy and insight into the mix (fingers crossed).
“We are thrilled to have Paulina as a part of this cycle’s judging panel. The show and participants will benefit a great deal from her vast modeling knowledge and expertise,” said Ken Mok, Executive Producer of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL.
Porizkova was chosen twice by People magazine as one of the Fifty Most Beautiful People in the world, in 1990 and 1992. Harper’s Bazaar magazine named her one of its ten most beautiful women in 1992. American Photo magazine in its first issue declared her to be the model of the 1980s. Porizkova has graced the covers of hundreds of magazines worldwide for more than two decades, including appearances on Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Self, Cosmopolitan and Glamour. She began modeling at the age of 15 and quickly rose to the top of her profession.
In addition, Porizkova has a long list of film credits including “Her Alibi,” opposite Tom Selleck, “Arizona Dreams,” opposite Johnny Depp, “People I Know,” opposite Al Pacino, “Second Best,” with Joe Pantoliano, the independent comedy “Knots,” with John Stamos, and many others. Porizkova was recently seen on “Dancing With The Stars” and wrote a novel entitled “A Model Summer” for Hyperion books. Porizkova is represented by management company One Entertainment and attorney Peter Thall.
The judging panel for cycle 10 will again be led by Tyra Banks and will also include runway expert J. Alexander and renowned fashion photographer Nigel Barker. As always, special guest judges will appear to critique within his or her area of expertise.
I cannot wait! Loved me some Paulina back in the day!
I know this is late news now but I had to comment on the recent guest casting of Gilmore Girls/Veronica Mars alum Matt Czuchry on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. I can only say that a Lyla/Czuchry coupling is hot business. If Christians look like these two I might get myself to a church. Hello!
Per TVGuide:
Nobody can ever say that Matt Czuchry is a victim of typecasting. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Czuchry is following up his memorable stint as hard-living bad boy Logan on Gilmore Girls with an arc on Friday Night Lights as — I kid you not — a devout Christian. Natch, he’s being introduced to the show via the newly religious Lyla. He’ll first show up in FNL’s 12th episode when Lyla guests on his Christian radio show.
THE OAKS, a new series from David Schulner (writer from Tell Me You Love Me, Everwood, etc.) and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan has just cast the family for their 1988 portion of the time-bending drama.
This show is a show I’m really interested in and have been since it was greenlit. I love the concept which is a little drama with a little supernatural. Plus, it just sounds heartbreaking… heartbreakingly great! Three families living in the same house over 60 years and they’re all haunted by some evil spirits. What’s not to love. Plus, it will be on FX. Nudity, language, and lots of blood!
Michael Rispoli and Romy Rosemont have been tapped to star in Fox’s high-profile drama pilot “The Oaks” for director Michael Cuesta.
The project, from 20th Century Fox TV, tells the intertwined stories of three families — a young couple who have just lost a child in 1968, a family of four in 1988 and a pregnant couple in 2008 — who live in the same house and are haunted by a restless spirit.
Rispoli and Rosemont will play the parents in 1988.
20th TV had been trying to cast the father role for a while. Meanwhile, British actress Gina McKee originally was cast as the mother. She is now being replaced by Rosemont as the 1988 portion of the show is being taken in more comedic, blue-collar direction.
Rispoli and Rosemont begin work today on the pilot, which has been shooting in Pasadena since Nov. 5.
The castings and tonal changes to the show have been done with the blessing of “Oaks” creator David Schulner and showrunner Shawn Ryan, who had been involved in the process up until last Monday, when the went on strike. In their absence, the final two castings were overseen by nonwriting executive producer Gina Matthews of Little Engine.
Rispoli, who recurred on NBC’s “The Black Donnellys,” also co-starred on NBC’s drama pilot “Fort Pit” this year. Rosemont, who recently did multiple episodes on the Fox/20th TV drama “Prison Break” and ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” next appears in Killer Films’ “An American Crime.”
Wow, this Star Trek prequel is becoming more interesting with each casting. Ausiello is now reporting that J.J. Abrams STAR TREK film has cast HOUSE castmember Jennifer Morrison.
J.J. Abrams has snatched up another tube star for his forthcoming Star Trek reboot. Abrams confirms that House’s Jennifer Morrison has joined the cast of his as-yet-untitled Trek pic. “She is indeed in the movie,” he tells me, “and she is most excellent!”
Last week, Morrison was spotted outside one of Trek’s Hollywood soundstages, sparking rumors that she had quietly come aboard the ensemble, alongside Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban and Heroes’ Zachary Quinto. Although Abrams isn’t divulging specifics about her character, he is denying Internet chatter that she’s playing the Enterprise’s glorified secretary (and Kirk’s crush), Yeoman Rand — the role originated by Grace Lee Whitney. “She is not [playing Rand],” he says.
Abrams, meanwhile, tells me that the current writers’ strike is not affecting production. “Our script is locked,” he says.
…She’s been signed to play one of the leads in the upcoming video game Assassin’s Creed. The game’s publisher won’t reveal her character but does admit that she’ll play a pivotal part in the bit that takes place during the Crusades in the 12th century. I’m thinking Joan of Arc? History buffs, back me up on this.
Looks like Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring aren’t the only ones hitting the small tube again. VERONICA MARS’ Papa Bear Enrico Colantoni is doing a big guest stint on NUMBERS.
Veronica Mars’ much-missed Enrico Colantoni is returning to the tube with a major guest stint on CBS’ Numbers, sources confirm to me exclusively. The role shouldn’t be much of a stretch for the actor formerly known as Det. Mars: He’s playing a surveillance specialist who takes a hostage when he suspects that someone has been spying on him.
The episode — slated to air in mid-December — is currently in production and, therefore, wouldn’t be a victim of the strike.
JOHN FRANCIS DALEY has been added as a series regular on BONES continuing his role as Bones and Brennan’s FBI appointed therapist Dr. Lance Sweets.
Oh Sam Weir how I miss you…
Don’t forget to watch tonight’s Halloween themed episode with Bones decked out in a Wonder Woman outfit and deflecting bullets with her bracelets! Looks incredible. Also, don’t forget to check out Mel’s BONES recaps.

Representing the “Goth” community in Louisville has embedded a strong sense of “us against the world” mentality in these two Racers. Therefore, don’t look for them to fall apart when the chips are down — a trait that will undoubtedly be tested on the Race.

This couple met at a bar over three years ago, quickly started dating, and have been trying to figure out if they really belong together even since. Lorena is from Puerto Rico and Jason hails from Arkansas … and the cultural differences between them has often caused friction in their relationship. Both are running the Race to see if they have what it takes to withstand the pressures of traveling around the world in under 30 days.
Curses Shonda Rhimes, curses… Just when I’d finally accepted the fact that I’m no longer watching your show you go and pull something like this on me? That’s a low blow! Don’t be pulling the Pacey card just to bring me back, it won’t work! I don’t think.
“Dawson’s Creek” alum Joshua Jackson is set to appear in several episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy,” … Jackson will play a doctor in a multi-episode arc of “Grey’s,” beginning with this season’s 11th episode. Casting reps Jackson’s return to episodic TV.
The always amazing TONI COLLETTE has just landed a deliciously dark and comic role on Showtime’s newest series The United States of Tara. Collette plays the title character as well as her many multiple personalities in the series being produced by Steven Spielberg.
Collette will play Tara, a wife and mother who has multiple-personality syndrome. The project will show Tara in all her personalities, including an aggressive male biker, a promiscuous teenage girl and a Martha Stewart-like homemaker.
“When you’re casting a show that requires an actress to not only play one complex character, but in this case several, the road begins and ends with Toni Collette,” Showtime Networks president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt said. “All of us at Showtime and DreamWorks are thrilled to have one of the best young actresses of her generation come aboard this project.”
The United States of Tara is scheduled to shoot early 2008. Showtime continues to kick HBO’s ass lately! I cannot wait for this series.
This is too good to be true! Eric Kripke tells CULT TIMES Magazine that the Winchester boys will meet Friday the 13th baddie Jason Vorhees in episode 10.
“We have Jason from Friday the 13th, the character with the hockey mask,” says Kripke. “He shows up in episode 10. We have cleared the rights to actually use Jason. We have a twist on it so its not really Jason out there but we found an interesting way to bring him in so Sam and Dean fight Jason from Friday the 13th. In our world, that is a pretty cool guest star.”
Um, ya think? I just jizzed my horror pants! For more, including magazine scans, head on over to Supernatural.tv
This just in, TheHollywoodReporter is reporting that Buffy alum, Austin Powers’ son “SCOTTTT”, and Robot Chicken mastermind SETH GREEN will be doing a 2 episode stint on GREY’S ANATOMY.
Seth Green has been tapped for a two-episode arc on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” Green, who said that “Grey’s” is one of his favorite shows, will play a patient on the hit medical drama. “If you are going to get sick, Seattle Grace is the place to do it,” he said. “Maybe they’ll call me McSicky?”
The Nov. 15 episode ought to be a treat for Buffy/Angel fans, and not just because it’s vampcentric, either. Mercedes McNab — the scene-stealer who played dumb blonde Harmony on both shows — has just been signed to guest as a toothsome chick who recalls for the Winchester boys the night she picked up more than a hangover while out clubbing.
Rejoice Harmony fans, rejoice! I can only hope that someone has a hissy slap fight with her, preferably in slo-mo. God, that Xander/Harmony fight still makes me as giddy as a school girl.
