Friday Night Lights Season 2 Banner

My how I’ve missed Dillon and their Panthers all summer long. “The Last Days of Summer” kicks off 8 months after the season finale with Tammy ready to pop that baby out any second, Coach working at UT, and Julie working at the pool as a lifeguard.

I know that the episode has been available online at Yahoo but I’ve not watched it because I wanted to shorten the distance between episodes 1 and 2. I need FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS every week and if I watched it online there would have been a good 3 week gap. I can’t deal with that right now.

Friday Night Lights is not to be missed so please tune in tonight for the Season 2 premiere at 9pm on NBC.

Immediately following the premiere tonight, head on over to the FNL Live Blog to chat with executive producer Jeff Reiner and my girl CONNIE BRITTON!

Ah, Dillon Panthers how I’ve missed you over the summer. While we still have 2 weeks until the premiere, I thought I would let all of you Panther fans know that you can watch the Season 2 Premiere of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS right now over at Yahoo TV.

When FNL returns, there will be some major changes in store for not only the Taylors but everyone in Dillon. Expect a Mexican 3 way, some nerd lovin’, and surprise siblings.

Friday Night Lights premieres Friday, October 5th at 9pm on NBC.

It’s Friday, just think that in a couple weeks Friday nights will be filled with original network programming and millions will decide to sit down and watch television instead of going out. It’s a revolution! No, I’m not talking about that schlock-fest The Ghost Whisperer starring Jennifer Love Hewitt’s breasts and a bunch of bad writing… I’m talking about FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (NBC) and MOONLIGHT on CBS.

For years my Friday nights have been filled by Degrassi and some accompanying show so it will be amazing to see such bigger and better quality shows on for my old decrepit ass. Bring on Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Matt Serecen, Jason Dohring and some Vamps!

Friday’s are PIGSKINS and PIGS BLOOD!

In the meantime, enjoy some fun links to get you through the afternoon boredom.

Queer Eye For The Straight Guy is back for a 4th edition and it may have the help of one infamous daytime diva. (AfterElton.com)

Need some more JASON DOHRING on MOONLIGHT Clips? DaemonsTV has ‘em!

Who doesn’t love gossip? Check out GOSSIP GIRLS on iTunes!

If you’ve got some time on your hands this weekend, make sure to pour through my buddy Seat42f’s new site.

Thank God! Rosie O’Donnell will not guest star on the upcoming season of NBC’s supreme FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

According to Ausiello:

Now it’s official: An NBC spokesperson has confirmed for me exclusively (and, by proxy, you guys) that Rosie O’Donnell will not be playing the crankypants soccer coach…

We’re all breathing sighs of relief right? I think that the integrity and the anonymity of the show would have been ruined by having such a familiar face on the show. One of the highlights for me is seeing actors of relative unknown status playing the residents of Dillon. It lends itself nicely to the docudrama style they’ve created. Obviously, I take that statement back when it comes to power couple Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.

While over at Ausiello, leave your thoughts on who you think would fill that role left vacant by Rosie.

Now go out and buy that $19.99 DVD already.

It’s Tuesday and that means a whole buttload of TV DVD’s are hitting the shelves. HEROES is one of them but that shows gangbusters so while you should buy it, I urge you to purchase another box set first.

Friday Night Lights Season 1 DVD Logo

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Season 1 DVD set is being sold dirt cheap almost everywhere. When I say dirt cheap, I mean buy 3 for your family and friends because the entire 22 episode first season is being sold for $19.99!

I think this is a great strategy because for the price of a single DVD film, you can get 22 hours of pure perfection and this may entice more people to watch the show for the very first time. Fingers crossed! And like I said, its at a price where you won’t feel crazy buying one for a friend and forcing them to watch it, because it’s that cheap!

There’s also a Money Back Guarantee, so how can you go wrong. Take a chance on the Dillon Panthers America!

I almost forgot the Emmy nominations were this morning. Silly me. There are some fun additions to this years Emmy list and sadly there are still a few head scratching oldies thrown in for good measure.

Friday Night Lights NBCThis is a great letter that Boston Globe TV Columnist Matthew Gilbert put up today. It’s addressing new NBC bossman Ben Silverman about how to approach the upcoming fall television season in regards to Friday Night Lights. It’s heavy on the convincing tip and why not, it’s one of the best shows on television and it needs to be treated as such. I hope you get a kick out of the letter and please let me find out that he really sent this on to Ben Silverman!

Dear Ben Silverman,

Mazels on the new situation as co chair of NBC. I envy you about as much as I envy the person who’ll take the presidency from Bush — that is, not much. I hope you’ve got plenty of Krazy Glue on hand, because you’ve got a lot of pieces to put back together. But, as producer of network TV’s best comedy, “The Office,” and the pop-art soap “Ugly Betty,” you clearly have good instincts.

But Ben, I am nonetheless nervous about “Friday Night Lights” — yes, the show that all the critics are whining about and that will probably become a thorn in your side if it isn’t already because it will remind us all of another egregious NBC botch, “Freaks and Geeks.” Dude, you gotta make it work.

You gotta find a way to represent “FNL” with more excitement to viewers. Despite the fact that NBC is the hippest kid on the network block, the one with Tina Fey and Steve Carell and “Scrubs” and Jason Lee and “Heroes,” it has been unable to tell viewers that “FNL” is not medicine. Sure, it’s a “family” show and it trucks in “rousing” sports movie cliches. And its docu-poetic approach to small-town Texas life is perfectly suited for those artsy viewers who’ve seen “The Last Picture Show.”

But “FNL” is also a charged relationship drama that stars some amazing young actors. Find a way to sell it to audiences who like youth soaps. Put the show’s kids out there — and not always in football uniforms or against a football-field backdrop. Obviously, Zach Gilford, Gaius Charles, Scott Porter, Taylor Kitsch, and Aimee Teegarden are pretty and sellable, not to mention talented.

But also make a publicity point of Jesse Plemons, who plays the geeky Landry. He’s a great character, a Texas take on Seth Cohen from “The O.C.” And as recovering bad girl Tyra, Adrianne Palicki has great offbeat allure. The potential of these two characters makes me think of Hiro and Claire from “Heroes.”

Friday Night Lights NBC

Well Panthers fans, the news is in and it’s pretty good. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS will live to see a second season. The bad news, it will find its new home on its namesake… FRIDAY NIGHT at 10pm.

I’ll take FNL whenever I can get it. I’m so there because seriously lets face it. I’m over 30 and in a long time relationship, I’m straight-edge so I don’t drink and I actually hate bars and most people so Friday nights and my television are well acquianted!

Bring on the drama and the tears with Coach Taylor, Tami Taylor, Saracen, Riggins, Tyra, et al.
