Battlestar Rapture

Battlestar Galactica: Rapture

“Previously on Battlestar Galactica,” the battle for the Eye of Jupiter and the road to Earth raged on ending with Adama calling the Cylon’s bluff and getting ready to release the nukes! Meanwhile poor Starbuck is crashed out there somewhere on the algae planet and the rest of Galactica’s flipping out that Adama actually might pull the trigger!

Tonight we got to see what both Adama men were made of. We know of the big ones on Bill but damnit we got to see some loving and tortured ones on Lee as well as he voyages out to find Starbuck - putting his wife Dee’s life in jeopardy to save his true love… that’s harsh!  In the end both Anders and Lee found a common ground to work on.

Dee found Starbuck and not only saved her life but managed to fly them off the algae planet to the safety of Galactica!  Before launch though, there were some trying moments between the two.  Dee confronted Kara about her love for Lee.  Kara in a very sweet and generous moment assured Dee that Lee would never cheat (nice that Dee got a good dig in though calling Kara out for being the one willing to cheat no matter what).  Um, what about the glove fused to Starbuck’s hand?  Damn that’s gotta hurt.  Click “more” to continue reading…

So there is this little known but hugely amazing station called CURRENT. It’s informative, it’s entertaining, and it’s incredibly ahead of its time and folks… it’s interactive. The network airs predominantly socially conscious, politically motivated, diy-activist type programming broken into 30 minute “topic” blocks. It’s completely viewer produced segments that run as an almost youtube-ish stream of consciousness but so well done it’s like watching a bunch of mini-documentaries.

To me its almost as revolutionary as when MTV began in 1981 - it blew my mind. I love that a whole network is dedicated to social awareness and the interactive nature of today’s youth.

That being said, last night they did a hysterical piece with a Jewish man wanting to learn about Christmas. Sure he could have talked with some folks, or even read a book but this being the technology age he wanted to see what history he could learn from YouTube! It’s genius. He found a clip called “2001 Opening Christmas Presents in Menifee” and sweet Jesus, did he learn the meaning of Christmas.

Watch and say it with me… ASPARAGUS… YEAH!
