Week 2 Results
The results are in and after this week’s record voting America (almost 10,000), the three routines going home are:
Jaimie and Hok’s Hummingbird/Flower routine (really folks?), Pasha and Lauren’s Transformers routine (not sad to see Lauren leave), and… sadly IMOGENE HEAP’s Opening Number featuring Danny Tidwell half naked with a big duct-tape X on his chest.
That’s a lot to take in. Each week it’s just going to get harder and if you people start cutting my boy Neil, there’s going to be some serious ramifications. That’s all I’m saying!
Let’s have one last look at the three routines your votes could have saved.
Week 2 begins with somewhat of a twist. I apologize for the short voting week but National Holidays can do that. On SYTYCD they took a break so we took a break for Labor Day. I was in Montreal since the two routines voted out were announced and that is why I was unable to get the new vote up.
So that twist I mentioned. So many people complained that their favorite routine wasn’t listed. I get it, if every routine mentioned was listed, then we’d have a Death Match that runs until next season begins… wait a minute! No, not happening. I am however throwing a wrench in this week’s vote.
By popular demand, I am adding Lacey Schwimmer and Danny Tidwell’s SAMBA! There is a catch though. That means that 3 routines will be eliminated this week!
The 3 routines with the least votes will be eliminated. You wanted DACEY’S SAMBA so you’ve got it. Now what happens is all up to you guys!
There are 9 routines left in the Death Match and after Friday, only 6 will remain. I’m extending voting by 1 day to accommodate the holiday and the delay so gets to voting!

Wow, we had over 3500 votes and here’s who you’ve chosen to eliminate America.
So, Danny & Anya’s Fox Trot as well as Sara & Jesus’ Hobo routine have been eliminated. I’m a little surprised by Sara & Jesus being in the bottom 2 because that’s a really good routine. Oh well, moving on!
Tomorrow, Week 2’s voting will begin when our Top 8 go head to head in another So You Think You Can Dance Video Death Match!

Let’s rewind though shall we?
Before I get to writing this up I have to tell you all some shockingly bad news. I lost 45 minutes of the show tonight. Something happened with our power and from 8:33 to about 9:15 I missed SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! A part of my soul is missing as well. Anyone who wants to fill me in step by step can in the comments section, help a brother out!
The show starts and Cat Deeley looks like a glorious Grecian Ostrich with her hair pulled back with the crown braid and that crazy poof of ruffles! She loves poof and she loves animal prints, so an Ostrich is actually semi-fitting for our beloved host.
The Top 20 are introduced in the order they were eliminated and the stage looks so insane with all of them there again! Everyone is in white and I’m having horrid nightmares of Idol’s All-White Angelic Charity Event Night(mare). I loved seeing everyone again because as the weeks go on and more happens, I actually tend to forget a face or two. Jessi looks really good, guess that heart of her’s is still holding out. Dominic and Sara got a huge response when they were shown and Pasha gave Lauren a version of the butt-bongos.
Then it was time for our Top 4 and it was glorious to see them up there, the envy of 16 others! Lacey Schwimmer, Neil Haskell, Sabra Johnson, and Danny Tidwell. This game is ON.
I feel like I was drugged, gang raped, and left in an alley in a pool of my own urine after watching the tour du force that was SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE’s Performance Finale tonight. It was two hours of dancing and awesomeness with extra awesome.
Can I make a confession though? I don’t know if I’m feeling overwhelmed or underwhelmed. I feel like so much happened yet nothing amazed me beyond belief and really, it left me feeling like this episode turned the whole competition on its ear and no one dancer has it in the bag.
Sabra seemed like the clear winner coming into tonight’s performance finale yet after the show ended I feel that she’s second if not third in line to win.
So who does that leave in the pole position? Get ready to call me a hypocrite and a late comer, but I have finally bought a ticket on the Hot Tamale Train with Danny Tidwell as Conductor and Lounge Act. *hides in shame and puts back to crowd with stones*
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Finale Part 1 airs tonight!
If you came looking for spoilers for tonight’s performance finale, I’m not posting them because I myself did not want to be spoiled as to which routines were performed tonight and which partnerships were formed.
I’m over the spoilers and ready to be shocked and amazed by Lacey Schwimmer, My BF Neil Haskell (semi-nude), Danny Tidwell and Sabra Johnson.
I’ll be watching tonight not from the confines of my own abode, but from the Woo with GMMR and a gaggle of other adoring fans. Should be one hell of a time! Here’s to hoping Wade works out some routines along with Mia Michaels and seriously, some Mandy Moore!
Who wants to take a stab at how many SYTYCD Alums will be in the house? Benji is a given, Travis Wall (and his lapdog Jailbait Ivan), Cousin Heidi will be lucky to get 10th row balcony they way they treat her, and possibly Nick Lazzarini?
Also, is it wrong that I want a DANCELIFE/ SYTYCD Cross-Over Series? God that would be amazing. Everyone already hates Blake, so it would make for some dramarama! Plus, Dancelife is on my mind because the Gossip Girl Preview plays the theme song which I seriously can’t stop dancing to in my underwear.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE has announced their Top 4 finalists America and I’m one happy man! America got it right for a change and made My Top 4, Their Top 4 as well!
Top 4 Finalists competing for the title this Thursday night are: Neil Haskell, Sabra Johnson, Danny Tidwell, and Lacey Schwimmer
That means that Pasha and Lauren were sent packing. Kisses, hugs, but it had to be done! I feel shame in admitting this, but in that big empty auditorium I actually started to feel bad that Lauren was going home. I know in my heart that she and her baby fat face needed to go but with no one there to cheer on her demise, there was something lost in the moment. Seriously though, both Lauren and Pasha were champs when it came to how they handled going home and that’s all you want to see at this stage of the game. (more…)
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Top 6 (Danny, Neil, Pasha, Lauren, Lacey, and Sabra) are working it for PEOPLE MAGAZINE this week! Thanks to Mel for pointing me over to JUST JARED who’s got the scans already up of our favorite Top 6 dancers in this week’s PEOPLE MAGAZINE.

I was finally able to catch this past week’s Top 6 performance episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE thanks to Lil Jenn and I’ve now got a couple more things to say… shocker!
Having now seen all of the performances including solos on the big screen (compared to online videos) I must say that the Sabra and Neil “Sweet Dreams” routine is not only the white hot electric sexiest routine of the season but one of the best the show has ever produced. Mandy Moore, you need to be elevated to Wade and Mia status and if you don’t return next season it will be a damn shame.
Every contestant and choreographer stepped it up big time this week. There were six completely kick ass and difficult routines jam packed into the hour long episode. Not to mention some great solos by each of the Top 6. Picking the Top 4 is really hard, picking the Top 5 not as hard. Someone groaned reading that, I know they did because I’m about to bash one contestant, singling them out and whatever, that’s what the blogs for…
Although Lauren Gottlieb did better than she’s done all season, she still deserves to go home. There are a couple obstacles that need to be addressed though for that to happen.
Last Sunday, August 5th, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE hit the streets and visited LA’s BEST (Better Educated Students for Tomorrow), an after-school enrichment program in Los Angeles. They talked to the students and then did some working it out!
Here are pictures of the Top 6 Finalists along with Exec. Producer Nigel Lythgoe, Choreographers Mia Michaels and Shane Sparks. Why couldn’t they have come to teach me something when I was a young’un? I would have learned much sooner that I was gay if Neil walked into that room.
I can really only comment on the choreographed pieces I saw online because as you may have heard, for some reason when I came home from vacation yesterday I discovered that NOTHING recorded and that includes last night’s apparently amazing SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.
Let me just get a couple things out of the way. First, Neil Haskell is soooo My BF, let it be known and let there be no mistaking it. I will fight you all boardroom style for that man after the performances he pulled off last night. That Sabra/Neil table dance was seriously unbelievable. Hands down the best routine of the night and possibly of the season.
Neil has amazing control with his body and his arms are so strong from his gymnastics background that he can virtually suspend time when he needs to. There’s a point where he puts both hands on either side of Sabra and he leaps over her, stopping midway for a couple seconds before continuing down… I practically exploded with how amazingly hot that was. Sabra worked it out, and after that, I don’t know that I’d like to meet her in a dark alley, girls got skills!
Their Paso Doble, while no My BF Travis Wall and Cousin Heidi Paso Doble was still really good. The donut drop was great and multi-teared and scary and painful looking, and I loved it. It was once again brutal when it needed to be and it lived up to my expectations. Loved the nasty caveman dragging of Sabra across the floor, who knew she was the cape to his Matador?
I’ve not watched last night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE yet, but I will tonight. Here’s the video of Lauren and Danny doing a Contemporary Mia Michael’s routine.
The show opens as it always does, with a wonderful opening routine, too bad I could barely enjoy it with Lauren’s dumb head right there front and center. I loved the Matrix like back-bends and slo-mo movements. This is a HUGE improvement over Shane Sparks‘ routine last night, can we all agree on that?
Show of hands if you think Nigel and the other Producers were like, crap we have to mention the bridge collapse because if we don’t we’re going to be seen as heartless and un-American? This is a show of entertainment value, a show that can make people forget their troubles, forget all the cares, and go DOWNTOWN… sorry, I had a moment. It’s hot here in Boston at 9pm at night its still 90 degrees.
Do you know what I mean though, this is not the forum, it comes across as awkward and frankly it comes across as even more heartless because they’re capitalizing on the emotional attachment people have to loss at the moment. Idol did it with the Virginia Tech incident and I thought it was wrong then as well.
Moving on to the show… CAT’s looking swank tonight and who else loves that in the last two episodes, she’s dropped having the audience say “Jidges“? Whoo-hoo! Apparently my emails are getting through to someone over at Fox!

I feel like I haven’t posted about So You Think You Can Dance in so long, I miss writing about it. Remember to never go to Comic-Con again and miss a week’s worth of shows and commentary. I usually am a fairly heavy poster over at TVGuide and in the week I was gone, all hell broke loose so obviously I can’t go anywhere. It’s hard being Ducky. I KID!
Kidding aside, I do feel like the Earth has shifted and things are all wonky because I watched last week’s episodes and thought that VoldemortDanny was fan-frakkin-tastic! I know, that’s a sin and believe me when I tell you that I went into last nights performance determined to hate him but damnit if that Argentine Tango he did with Sara didn’t make that impossible! CURSES VOLDEMORT!
Sometimes Alex Da Silva nails it and last night was a crucifixion of goodness (that doesn’t work at all does it – hell I’m sticking with it because I’m too worn out to worry about it). The kick board is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. It’s a clipboard that acts like a stop sign of sorts and Sara has to hit the top circle or Danny goes from a Rooster to a Hen like *that*. It was a pretty HOT number! Danny might be the gayest thing this side of Joe from Big Brother 8 but there is no denying he has quite the manly physique and can work a stage making a girl like Sara look pretty and perfect. The pretzel was SICK! Danny’s spins are OOC and I’m finding it hard to criticize them.
I love having Adam Shankman back as Guest Judge because only a big queen like him can get away with calling Danny out as a big homo on national television. He basically called him a nelly for using that fan so lady-like at the end of the routine and why not? (more…)
