I’ve been wanting to talk about the premiere of USA’s new crime dramedy WHITE COLLAR for a while now but I was living in the 1890’s for a few weeks (no TV, no internet), this is the first chance I’ve had to urge you all to tune in tonight!
WHITE COLLAR stars the smokin’ hotness that is Matthew Bomer (CHUCK, TRAVELER) as a sly con man assisting Tim DeKay’s semi-straight laced FBI agent in catching white collar criminals.
I’ve watched tonight’s premiere twice already and have to say that the show is charming as hell. I’d go as far to say that it may be USA’s best and most adult show to date. There’s nothing ground breaking or super original about WHITE COLLAR but damn if this show isn’t addictive.
What’s to Love:
Bomer has blue eyes you could stare at for days and it doesn’t hurt that he’s shirtless in the pilot (I’m just sayin’)
Dekay has long been a favorite of mine (CARNIVALE & EVERWOOD anyone?) and he’s the perfect match for Bomer’s almost too slick criminal.
The show fits perfectly into USA’s proven successful formula of comedy, crime and drama.
There’s Gallant from ER and Stanford Blatch from SEX & THE CITY.
The show has the best chemistry on USA since PSYCH’s Shawn and Gus
Tiffany Thiessen shines in a shockingly non-showy role. She plays DeKay’s oft-shunned wife and I heart her for taking the role!
There’s a lesbian! (LOST’s Naomi)
New York City is front and center as the back drop of the show which gives the show some authenticity and energy that most studio shows can’t reenact.
There’s actually intriguing and interesting character development that doesn’t detract from the central theme of the show and I can’t wait for those subplots to play out. Kate? Bring it!
If you’re a fan of USA’s character driven powerhouse, WHITE COLLAR will fit nicely into your schedule. It’s a pinch of PSYCH with a little BURN NOTICE thrown in for good measure. Tune in for Bomer’s eyes and stay for the surprisingly great performances of the entire cast.

Once upon a time there was a network that turned this (at the time) mid-to-late 20-something into a 14 year old girl. It made me laugh, it made me cry and at times it made me feel dirty… THE WB!
I was abso-obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell, Felicity, Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, Popular and other to the point that it was almost embarassing.
Tomorrow, August 27th at 11am PST TheWB.com will launch and while not all of my oldies will be there, it’s a great place to spend your lunch break or a rainy afternoon. Catching up with old friends…
Check out the teaser for the launch:
Buffy, Angel, Veronica Mars, Everwood, Roswell, Gilmore Girls, The O.C., Smallville, Friends and some new shows… what more could you ask for (well besides Felicity and Popular)?
We said we’d be back with another TV Talk Podcast in a week but it took almost a week and a half, I think you survived just fine. GMMR was at the Upfront presentations so there’s plenty to talk about including her celebrity sightings, stalkings, and dancing partners. We’ll even talk about Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE and J.J. Abrams FRINGE starring GMMR’s mega crush Josh Jackson. So You Think You Can Dance might get a couple minutes or five along with her time with The Office and Tina Fey!
Back to your regularly scheduled podcast, we head right into GOSSIP GIRL, AMERICAN IDOL, THE OFFICE, GREY’S, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and more. Plus, it’s the return of TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST (*we talk about the finale being this week but listener Michael pointed out that it’s not until May 29th - phew!) where we rehash the first hour of the three hour Season 4 finale, once again proving that even idiots can enjoy Lost. And as a bonus feature, we have a special guest to help us talk about the Season 3 finale of The CW’s SUPERNATURAL.
Sit back and relax because this Podcast almost hits 90 minutes. You read that right, 90 minutes of babbling, giggling, bitching, and TV Talk!

In a strange move, the now defunct WB Network is returning… to the web. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The WB will make a return as a website allowing downloads of some of their most popular titles. Here’s the catch, right now it looks like only shows produced by Warner Bros. Television will be available. But, that means faves like GILMORE GIRLS and EVERWOOD will be just a click away! Will Buffy, Felicity, Roswell, Dawson’s Creek and Popular follow? I can only hope!
Warner Bros. Television Group plans to resurrect The WB television network in the form of a new Web site. On the site, whose working title is wb.com, users will be able to catch free streaming episodes of all WB-produced series airing on the net during its 1995-2006 run, including “Gilmore Girls,” “Everwood” and “What I Like About You.”
It was not immediately known whether WB shows produced by outside studios–among them, “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer,” “Felicity” and “Dawson?s Creek”–would be featured, or whether current Warner Bros. series airing on WB’s successor The CW, such as “Gossip Girl,” would appear on the site. Sources told Mediaweek that wb.com will be ad-supported and that, in addition to offering past WB series, the site will feature new, short series and vignettes targeting the old WB audience, primarily women 12-34.
Each episode will reportedly run 5 minutes, with 10 installments slated. Sources said wb.com will have a beta launch next month, with a major rollout planned for this fall. One source called wb.com Warner Bros.? version of Hulu, the joint NBC Universal/News Corp. Web venture offering premium video content from both companies and others.
“We’re in the process of developing several Warner Bros.-branded Web destinations and will announce all the details in the coming weeks,” Warner Bros. TV Group said in a statement, stopping short of confirming specifics.
The WB and UPN networks merged to form The CW in the 2006-07 TV season, but several WB shows that moved over to the new CW lost audience.
