Project Runway 5 Judges

Tonight my summer viewing schedule officially kicks into overdrive. Not only are summer staples So You Think You Can Dance and Big Brother 10 burning up my screen, it’s the premiere of Project Runway 5!

This is the first time all summer that I’m starting to feel overburndened by the amount of television programmed. I love that summer has become yet another bonafide season but I hate that every show I’m interested in seems to be jam packed onto the same nights. I’m not saying I have a solution or that programming on Friday or Saturday nights in the summer would be any better than what we’re presented with but damn, it makes me anxious to think about the number of shows I need to keep track of.

To give you a rundown, here are the shows I’m interested in and their nights. It’s banoodles I tell you, banoodles!

Mondays: The Closer, The Middleman, Weeds, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (though I’m totes behind)
Tuesdays: Wipeout, Big Brother 10
Wednesdays: So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother 10, Project Runway, Shear Genius
Thursdays: So You Think You Can Dance, Swingtown, Burn Notice, Fear Itself
Fridays: Doctor Who, Psych
Saturdays: Nothing
Sundays: Generation Kill, Mad Men, Design Star, Next Food Network Star

Surely I’m missing some shows and obviously you can tell I’ve already left some in the dust. My Boys and Kathy Griffin, sorry I’ll catch you in a marathon or on DVD, I don’t have the time. In Plain Sight, you just couldn’t hold my attention no matter how hot some of those leads are… sorry! I get brutal with the cuts in the summer and surely more will come. Just give me time, heat makes me a total raving bitch so I’ll leave a show in the dust without hesitation. Fate and Ducky are two fickle bitches!

We promised you a SUMMER TV PREVIEW podcast and here it is! Kath and I run through all of the summer premiere dates for the new and returning shows as well as give you our input on our faves and more importantly the ones we would never watch in a million years! It’s great fun…

So You Think You Can Dance, The Closer, Big Brother, My Boys, The Mole, The Next Food Network Star, Design Star, Swingtown, Fear Itself, Army Wives, Ice Road Truckers, America’s Best Dance Crew, Wipeout, Flashpoint, Psych, Monk, Mad Men, The Middleman, Burn Notice and more… there’s no reason to be outside when what’s on TV is this hot!

Having just returned from the PTown Film Festival last night, I’m glad to be home but sad that I missed so much in the world of television. I caught 10 films over 3 days, not too shabby… the weather was amazing so I had to make concessions here and there to just be outside in the glorious Cape weather. Good times.

Being away meant that I missed the results show of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! You know that was killing me! I didn’t even know who got kicked off until last night when I got home. You’ll be happy to know that SYTYCD was the first thing I tuned into and while Tranny Mess Susie Garcia and her partner Marquis Cunningham went home I still have a feeling of, eh… I don’t care that much. Sure Marquis was good but he didn’t showcase much personality at all and in this competition you need more than skill to win us over.

The opening number by Shane Sparks (dude, we miss you) was incredible and it was great watching Comfort Fedoke hold her own with the big boys out there. As for the solos, I wasn’t that impressed by any of the 6 kids dancing for their lives. I was happy to see that Mary toned down the Oompa Loompa-ness from the night before but sad to see that Mia was still in her douche-zone.

*I’ve updated the SYTYCD Episode Music Guide so head on over and download all the songs from Season 4!

After SYTYCD I settled in for DESIGN STAR 3 and NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR which last year because summer obsessions of mine. Design Star is just a great show and some of the charactes they’ve got this season are OOC! It cracks me up that they once again kicked out one of the “non-confrontational” males in order to keep one of the dippy females. I’m not complaining because the unstables they’ve kept for the last 2 weeks *Tracy and Stephanee I’m looking at you*

I started watching this week’s Next Food Network Star and fell asleep :( It’s not because the episode was boring or anything, it was because I was spent and it was late. I’ll finish it tonight so no one spoil me on who got kicked off.

I’m behind on SWINGTOWN, DOCTOR WHO and IN PLAIN SIGHT and hope to catch up sometime early this week.

Kath and Dan are back to talk the Season 4 finale of LOST. Yes, 2 Idiots Talk Lost is in full effect! We also take viewer questions about the new Sex & the City movie, Battlestar Galactica, The Mole, Ugly Betty, the premiere of In Plain Sight plus Kath’s progress on Supernatural and much more.

Wow, I just now realized that I haven’t blogged about anything since last Friday morning when we talked LOST.

The reason I haven’t blogged since last Friday is because Jon and I moved this past weekend and I didn’t have cable or the internet until last night! I thought I was going to die without the world wide web and the talking box but I was actually too busy to even worry about it.

So much has happened whilst I was away…

  • I covered the kick off of Cyndi Lauper’s TRUE COLORS TOUR for AfterElton. Check out my write up and a ton of pictures with Cyndi, Rosie O’Donnell, Queer Eye’s Carson Kressley, The Cliks, The B-52’s, Regina Spektor and more. She (Cyndi) was amazing, The B-52’s were unbelievable and The Cliks are my new faves. I’m going again this Friday because Tegan & Sara didn’t play the opening night and I have to see those baby dykes.
  • In Plain Sight premiered and the first thing I did once my internet kicked in last night was watch the premiere. While it’s a little formulaic and procedural, I have to say that Mary McCormack is killing it! She’s fraktastic as US Marshall Mary Shannon. While I’d read that she was a little too tough and sassy, I found her to not be stereotypical in any way shape or form and really found her portrayal of such a stubborn and lonely woman refreshing. It’s a credit to McCormack because in a lessor actors hands it could have been incredibly cheesy. And seeing Fred Weller in something again was quite fun (ie, the man’s hot business and I heart him). It’s gone to the top of my must watch summer series list.
  • I tried to watch THE MOLE online and I have to say… I don’t get it… at all! I have no idea why these people care who’s the Mole, I hate that if someone couldn’t get the bag of money while plummeting to their death off a waterfall they’re automatically suspect. I don’t get it and I don’t think I care to. If someone can explain this crap to me, fine but until then the show is off my radar.
  • News-wise there’s been a ton of development…

  • Tony Hale (aka Buster Bluth) is joining CHUCK and SAMANTHA WHO as recurring characters on both!
  • The TCA Nominations were announced.
  • Kim Cattrall has landed herself a new gig as a newly sexually awakened woman in the new HBO show SECOND SKIN. Geez, I wonder why they cast her?
  • Plus, there’s been tons of other casting/pilot news I’m sure you’ve already read about. It’s been a busy week for TV news so I hope everyone is up to speed. Glad to be back y’all.
