Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a Buy More mouse. Sarah’s stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Chuck Bartowski soon would be there! Casey was nestled all snug in his bed, while visions of a fuzzy Morgan danced in his head. And Ellie in her ‘kerchief and Awesome in his cap, they’re just about to rise from a long network enforced nap…
This is what all of you TV Talk Podcast listeners have been waiting for… GMMR and Ducky interview the cast of NBC’s kick ass comedy thriller, CHUCK!
Season 3 premieres January 10th and as a Chrismukkah present to you all, GMMR and Ducky have a little gossip, a lot of scoop and some killer insight from your favorite CHUCK castmembers.
This is my last post before leaving for my AIDS Ride and I wanted it to be something fun for you all to read over while I’m gone. If you’ve been following my twitter’s you know that I’m kinda sorta crazy coo coo bananas over WHATEVER, MARTHA! with Alexis Stewart and Jennifer Hutt.
I’ve been a huge fan of their Sirius show, Whatever Radio for a couple years now and they slay me on a regular basis. I simply heart these two women. Alexis is of course the daughter of Martha Stewart and along with her friend Jennifer, they’re going all MST3K on old Martha Stewart Living episodes. That’s right, they’re taking the queen to task and the show (airing Tuesdays at 9pm on Fine Living Network) is a work of comedic genius. (Check out some videos and tell me I’m wrong)
I got a chance to ask the ladies some questions and here’s what they had to say!
Whatever, Martha seems like the perfect obvious choice for a show (especially with the two of you) so I was wondering who came up with the idea? Were you just sitting around one day, laughing your asses off watching old Martha reruns and thinking how funny it would be to deconstruct and comment on how ridonkulous some of the segments were.
Jennifer: Martha came up with the idea for the show. She watched a lot of Mystery Science Theater 3,000 and decided we’d be the right people to poke fun at her.
Alexis: Martha came up with the idea. She is an insomniac and often enjoys watching Mystery Science Theater 3000. About a year or so ago she though Jennifer and I should do a similar kind of thing with her show.
Alexis, you know your Mother so well that you can probably read into her body language or facial expressions and anticipate what’s coming next or even what’s happening behind the scenes… Does that make commenting on some of the old Martha shows even funnier for you or do you watch in horror and just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind?
Alexis: Both! We did not edit ourselves, but rather left that to the professionals.
You have a pretty big gay following for the radio show, do you expect every crafty queen to follow you to the Fine Living Network? Do you see them as part of your target audience or just a fashionable and bitchy bonus?
Jennifer: I love the gays! I think we are incredibly lucky that so many fabulous people – gay and straight- can identify with our radio show and I hope they will follow us to Fine Living Network. Our radio fans feel like friends to me, friends who seem to like us despite all of our foibles and idiosyncrasies.
Alexis: We don’t target any audience and have listeners of all shapes and sizes, grandmas, teenagers, mothers, doctors, truck drivers, carpenters, plumbers, etc. Every listener is a bonus!

I just got off the call with Tricia Helfer, that frakkin’ kick ass actress from Battlestar Galactica and now Burn Notice and I’m happy to say I love her more now than I ever did before.
While I won’t have the full interview up for another day or so, I wanted to quick share some of the highlights about her stint with Michael Westen on Burn Notice, her plans for Comic-Con and her role as Mason on the Fox pilot Inseparable.
Comic-Con and Battlestar Galactica:
Tricia confirmed that she will be attending the BSG Comic-Con panel and that the theme this year is Cylon/Human Couples. So far she knows that Six & Baltar will share the stage with Starbuck & Anders. Frak, that sounds awesome!
I asked her about whether or not there is hope for the humans and the cylons now that they’ve discovered a devastated Earth and she seemed optomistic without revealing a frakkin’ thing (damn, those trained to not spoil). She thinks that the cylons that are in cooperation with the humans will work together and keep pushing forward, that they have to keep trying because that’s their nature.
She heads back to Vancouver for the final shots of the Battlestar Galactica series tomorrow and the mood on set is frantic. She said that instead of everyone being relaxed and laid back like she thought it would be, everyone is crazy busy and trying to cram so much into their normal production schedule so everyone is like walking zombies up there in Canada.
Being her first series finale, she doesn’t know how she’ll feel when she walks off the lot for the last time but she imagines it will be rough.
Tricia Helfer talks Burn Notice:
Her character Carla will torment Michael even when she’s not on screen. Even though she’s only shot the first two episodes of the season, she’s done some call in work for upcoming episodes where she’ll be taunting our gang via cell phone. As she put it, “Carla is always watching!”, so while she may not be on the show, that’s all the rest of the characters are talking about. Loves it!
She believes that she’ll be in 7 episodes total. 2 this half of the season (the summer portion) and 5 when the show returns for the second half of Season 2 in early 2009. So yeah, but boo… that means we’re getting very little Burn Notice this summer. Probably 8 eps before disappearing.
She has yet to film a scene with Gabriel Anwar’s Fiona but assumes that those scenes will not be pretty. She’s dying to see what happens between them though! Aren’t we all sista!!!
What about Fox’s new pilot INSEPARABLE?
She plays a police psychologist named Mason who has treated the main character both before his paralyzing accident and after so she knows the heart of this man.
Her character is not in the pilot that much but becomes a larger focus as the next few episodes unfold.
It looks like Inseparable will be a mid-season show for Fox’s early 2009 schedule.
She was incredibly energetic, fun, and chatty for it being 8am in Los Angeles. I have to say that she’s my new BFF and just doesn’t realize it. Katee Sackoff watch you ass! Do you think she would pull my bicycle behind her hog or get me a sidecar? Helfer, call me!
Last week I got to participate in a conference call with legendary comedy and horror director John Landis and PSYCH’s Maggie Lawson as they talked about tonight’s episode of FEAR ITSELF called “In Sickness and In Health”.
Tune in to FEAR ITSELF on Thursday nights (10pm NBC) because its a bloody good time! “In Sickness and In Health” should be great because it stars both Maggie Lawson and James Roday from PSYCH – together…again… it’s crazy talk! I love seeing the two of them together but in different roles… too bad it looks like he might be trying to kill her, always an issue.
Let me tell you, John Landis can talk! It was great, don’t get me wrong but seriously if he was on an episode of Coffee Talk with Linda Richman the man would have no problem discussing any topic. I’ve pulled some of the questions for your reading pleasure.
Panel: I know you’ve done some great horror work like American Werewolf and Innocent Blood but are you surprised you’ve become very much a go-to guy for horror when your work has predominantly been in comedy?
John Landis: You know, directors just like actors get typed and I personally, you know, it’s because I’ve made very successful comedies, it’s like oh, he’s a comedy guy. And I enjoy comedy and it’s not hard for me but I like all genres. I mean I’d really like to make a Western. As a schlepper, as a young man, I worked on many Westerns in Spain, mostly Italian Westerns.
But my friend Walter Hill once said to me, “If they knew how much fun it was to make a Western they wouldn’t let us.” Because it’s so fun. I made Three Amigos in this country; I directed that and that was a comedy but it was a Western and since you ride around on horses it’s really fun. But I as a filmmaker, I can do whatever story; I’m the storyteller. So if it’s a drama or a love story, whatever it is I’m perfectly capable of doing it.
However, the executives don’t think that way. They think what was he successful in? We’ll give him that. Just like actresses get typed or, you know, it’s sad but I think it’s kind of amusing that I’m a master of horror now. Although since I did those two shows I’ve actually, I guess, done a bit of horror. I like horror and fantasy and I want to stress that this particular episode, the screenplay by Victor Salva, when I read it, it’s not what you expect.
It’s much more of a throw back. It’s kind of like a woman’s picture, a girl in jeopardy picture. It has really no elements of the supernatural and it’s entirely – sits on Maggie’s shoulders. (more…)
If you missed the premiere of ABC Family’s THE MIDDLEMAN you missed something pretty frakkin’ fun. Hottie McHotsalot Matt Keeslar stars as the mysterious man of the law, The Middleman, and he sat down with a bunch of us earlier this week to talk about what makes the show so special and even spoils us one some of the upcoming episodes. He’ll chat about his costar Natalie Morales and whether or not their characters will ever hook up.
Sadly, I could only sit in on the first 25 minutes of the call because I had a meeting at my real job (WTF is that all about?) and I didn’t get to ask my questions. Luckily they were pretty much covered throughout the course of the interview.
On with the interview:
Panel: What is your favorite part about working on the show so far?
M. Keeslar: My favorite part about working on the show is the great group of people that Javier, the creator, has assembled for us. It’s an amazing crew, a really terrific cast. Natalie Morales plays Wendy, the lead in the show, and she’s a very talented newcomer, along with Brit Morgan and Jake Smollett, who are also young and very talented actors. We have Mary Pat Gleason, who is playing my android assistant, Ida, and she is a really fun, terrific actress to work with, much more experienced than probably any of us on set.
The writing team has been really terrific too. They’ve put together what I think are progressively better scripts. Even though I was much enamored with the original pilot script, I think that the script has gotten better as they’ve taken more chances and looked at new and interesting ways of spinning the iconic comic book hero.
Panel: Since the comic book fan base is so passionate; did you feel any pressure playing a comic book character?
M. Keeslar: The short answer to that is no. I didn’t feel a lot of pressure coming from the comic book fan base. I think that, like all fan bases, some people will love “The Middleman” and some people will have difficulties with it. It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, this comic book super hero, so, it is, in a way, both an ironic statement about comic heroes in general, and also a really passionate and loving look at comics and all of their multi-facets. It’s a loving portrayal, but also a lampoon at the same time. We’re taking a look at it through the eyes of Wendy Watson, your average, everyday art school graduate and how she sees the iconic comic book character played by myself, “The Middleman.”
Panel: We interviewed Javier (creator of the show) a couple of weeks back and he talked about how he knew you found “The Last Days of Disco” and you’re the one that he wanted for this role. Can you talk a little bit about how you were approached for this and what your initial thoughts were?
M. Keeslar: I was sent a script that my manager said you have to read, because it’s great. I sat down as soon as I got it, read it that night, called my manager and said okay, I want to play this part, and I didn’t really care that much about what channel it was going to be on, or any of the other details involved. All I knew was that this was a great part and a great part for me to play. So I think the next day, they set up a breakfast with Javier and I met him for coffee and he basically said we really want you to play this part. That you’re going to have to go through the whole audition process so that ABC Family can feel like they’re participants in this process, but basically, you’re the guy that we want to do this.
I felt very confident going into the audition, even though it was quite a strenuous audition. I had to learn a lot of dialogue, but I felt, from the get-go, that this was a part that I could really play and I could do justice to.
Panel: You’ve had a lot of eclectic roles in the past. Is that something that led you to really enjoy auditions for this role, and how is it different from other things that you’ve played so far?
M. Keeslar: This character is very different from other things that I’ve played and that’s by design, in a way. I like to look for different and challenging roles to play, just because it keeps my interest and it keeps me excited about doing something new, and I think that, in a way, the various and eclectic roles that you mentioned from my past have helped, because “The Middleman” is kind of a jack-of-all-trades. He knows a little bit about everything.
So, being able to do stunt work was important, and that’s something that I had experienced in the past. Being able to do a large amount of dialogue and learn it relatively quickly was something that I had experienced on “The Last Days of Disco,” as one of the other interviewers mentioned. Learning how to play a comic character who takes himself seriously was something that I’ve also been working on with other characters in another project.
I think that the eclectic characters that I’ve played in the past have helped me to put together “The Middleman” and, even though he isn’t a character all in and of himself, he kind of knows a little bit of everything. (more…)
The CW’s best bet for one liners, Mr. Jensen Ackles sat down and talked with TVGuide about SUPERNATURAL and all things Dean Winchester.
TV Guide: Because of his deal with the Crossroads Demon to bring Sam back from the dead, Dean only has this year to live. That must suck. How will he be handling those dwindling days? Jensen Ackles: He’ll keep going out and having fun, calling old flames to see if they want to go Round 2…. He’s not wasting any time. [Laughs] But at the same time, he knows there are people out there who need help, so he keeps in the reality of hunting.
TV Guide: Will Sam keep trying to save Dean, even though he knows he’ll die if he does? That’s a bad bind. Ackles: Right. I have to stop Sam from doing that. But he’s still trying. In each script I read, I’m getting a little bit more nervous.
TV Guide: Don’t you know what’s going to happen? Ackles: I don’t. They won’t tell us.
Oh Dan Humphrey how I love you… GOSSIP GIRL is on tonight at 9pm and I cannot wait. To wet your appetite, here is a fun interview with my newest TV Boyfriend Penn Badgley from E!
Gossip Girl is the first freshman series to get a full-season pickup. That must feel pretty good.
Yeah, it’s cool. We were on set when we heard the news. [Executive producers] Josh Schwartz and Stephanie [Savage] had us all gather around the speakerphone, and they told us, so that was exciting.
Were you guys expecting it?
I wasn’t really surprised. People who expected us to do better [ratings] right off the bat were being unrealistic, because the CW is still trying to establish itself as a full-fledged network. I think a show like Gossip Girl is just going to keep building an audience. It seems to be doing that slowly but surely every week.
Are you getting recognized already?
Actually, multiple times a day. If I go out in the city, chances are it’s going to happen, especially if Blake [Lively] and I are together. We have this Serena and Dan complex going, so people freak out if they see the two of us.
In the books, Dan has a bi-curious element, no? He has questioned his sexuality.
Yeah, I think he’s straight-up gay in the books. But I don’t think network TV really has the balls to make one of their [teenage] series regulars gay. Let’s say the show builds up to become a big hit, then I think they’d maybe explore it in year three or four. It would be an interesting thing to do. It could bring in a whole different demographic.
Um, listen up The CW… LET DAN HUMPHREY BE A BIG OLE GAY!!! Read the rest of the interview with E!’s Watch with Kristin
The CW’s SUPERNATURAL is now in it’s third season and so far the show has been wildly successful being carried by it’s two male leads, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. This season however, it was announced that two female characters would be joining the cast. The internet exploded with speculation about these ladies being brought in as love interests and people jumped to wild conclusions about the characters of Ruby (Katie Cassidy) and Bela (Lauren Cohan) months before their debut.
In the season premiere entitled “The Magnificent Seven” we were introduced to Ruby, the stalkerish knife wielding demon ass kicker and on October 18th we’ll be introduced to Bela, the mercenary supernatural arms dealer. I got to sit down and chat with newbie LAUREN COHAN who plays Bela to find out how she came to the show, more about her character, and what she thinks about being one of the most talked about new castings of the fall season.
DDTV: How is it going so far?
Lauren Cohan: It’s been going really well actually, and I hate that I’m sick right now because I’d like to be a bit more bubbly but… things are going really well. I just got back last week from filming an episode with Sterling Brown (who plays returning hunter/foe of the Winchesters, Gordon) and that was, OH so much fun because he’s a real baddie! We have this kind of a face off, he’s an evil character which is good because I tend to feel a bit bad being mean to the boys because my character is a real piece of work (laughs).
It’s been really really fun and it’s been quite a funny experience because its a big family atmosphere as I’m sure you gathered having visited the set before.
DDTV: Were they pretty open and accepting to you as a new character?
LC: Yes definitely, as soon as I got there I kind of felt like the little sister because they’re like the big brothers that poke fun and make you feel silly but welcome… We have lots of laughs and it’s a lot of fun.
The episode before last was a really big episode for my character and there was this one scene in a safe house and it was old and dilapidated and there were rat traps everywhere and Jared kept trying to get everyone to hold the rat traps. He just kept passing them around, throwing them to different people saying “Here, catch this” — I guess that’s par for the course. It’s a lot of work but it’s a lot of fun.
DDTV: Bela shows up in Episode 3 “Bad Day at Black Rock” right?
LC: Yes, I’ll be on the 18th I believe.
What can you tell us about your arrival?
LC: It’s kind of mysterious and they don’t really know what to make of her. She basically has a face off with Dean and gives him a taste of everything that is to come between them, she’s basically just out to weasel things out of them and then try to make it up to them in a way.

Okay so CHUCK’s Sarah isn’t baring all, flesh wise that is but she did just do a fun interview with TVGuide’s Matt Mitovich. Turns out that YVONNE STRAHOVSKI is one of the most googled tv gals around! Go girl…
TVGuide.com: Do you and Rachel Griffiths and Jacqueline McKenzie have a bar you hang out at together? Strahovski: Actually, no — but there is a pretty strong Australian community here. They do screenings every so often of an Australian film, and they’ll have the featured Australian actor come in for a Q&A session. But I don’t really have time to go to them anymore because I don’t have a life, now that I work on Chuck!
TVGuide.com: I was speaking to Alex O’Loughlin from CBS’ Moonlight the other day…. Strahovski: Yeah, Alex and I know each other. His dad and my mom work together in Australia.
TVGuide.com: I was busting his chops about all the Aussies and Brits working on prime time this season and he was like, “Hey, we’re just going where the work is.” Strahovski: That’s right. There’s not a lot happening in Australia.
TVGuide.com: Have you had any previous flirtation with U.S. prime-time television? Strahovski: This was the first pilot season I had done. I was actually auditioning from Australia, in Sydney, putting auditions on tape and sending them over as QuickTime [files]. Chuck was one of the [shows] I sent to, and they called me to say, “Come have a meeting with us.” So I met with [executive producer/director] McG and [series creators] Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, and they gave me the job.
TVGuide.com: Having previewed this week’s episode, I have to say damn you for making us want Sarah with Chuck so badly. The chemistry between you and Zachary Levi is great, especially at the very end of this week’s episode…. Strahovski: Well, they’re going to build on that tension…. We’ll see what happens.
Tonight is the premeire of SUPERNATURAL Season 3 with “The Magnificent Seven” at 9pm on The CW. We’ll be introduced to one of the much buzzed about new girls tonight, Ruby played by Katie Cassidy but I’m here today because I’m going to be sitting down with the other new female LAUREN COHAN who plays Bela.
I know so many people were up in arms about brining the girls on. Having seen Katie Cassidy in action, she fits right in and I instantly thought she was a bad ass! I’m assuming the same will be true about Lauren Cohan. Many concerns have been raised over the summer about who these girls really are in terms of how they mesh with the boys. There was online lynching of these two girls well before anyone saw a single frame of film with either of them on it.
I wanted to talk to them and see how they feel going into such a huge cult hit knowing they were the most talked about aspect of the upcoming season. I have some burning questions (or is that burning sensation from something else?) for Lauren but I want your input as well my SUPERNATURAL friends!
Please leave questions in the comment section and I’ll do my best to get them asked and answered. I’ll be taking comments until Monday night. I sure hope Lauren knew what she was getting herself into! Be nice, y’all!
PETER FACINELLI has been working in film and television for quite some time now. If you’ve loved CAN’T HARDLY WAIT as much as I have, then you’ve grown to love and hate the roles he plays. On FX’s DAMAGES, he plays Greg Malina and once again it’s a character you want to slap one minute and bed the next. He walks a fine line between right and wrong, good and evil so honestly… he fits right in with the rest of the shady characters on this superb drama.
We got the chance to chat with Peter last week and while he couldn’t really spill any information for us as the season hits its back half but he was veery easy to talk to and as you’ll see there might even be a Jenni Garth cameo in there somewhere.
Question: How long of a run are you going to have on Damages? I know you’ve done five or six episodes, I believe. How long do you believe your character will be taking part in this season?
P. Facinelli: You know, I don’t know. Gregory is kind of torn between two sides right now and every time I flip the page, I wonder if I’m going to be in the next episode myself. So it’s all up in the air right now, but because my character pertains to this one particular case, I believe when the season is over, then my part would be over.
Question: It looks like Gregory is going to be deeper and more involved in the conspiracy than we maybe originally thought. Can you give us any insight into where it’s going with the rest of the episodes this season or what you have filmed so far?
P. Facinelli: Well, I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you. Like I said, he was in Florida. He knows what’s going on and he is being torn between two sides. And that’s pretty much all I can tell you. I can’t tell you any future episodes because I don’t want to ruin it for you. But he is, after Katie has been knocked out, pretty much the missing link in the whole case. (more…)
I just got off a call with actor PETER FACINELLI who plays the shady Greg on FX’s supreme show DAMAGES and I’m not 100% sure, but I think there may have been a background appearance from Kelly Taylor herself, Peter’s wife JENNI GARTH.
In the middle of an answer, his dogs started barking like crazy so he excused himself and there was this background chatter where I could hear Peter, the dogs, maybe some kids, and a woman’s voice. I think I was on the phone in some ways with Dancing With The Stars’ next possible winner Garth. Loves her.
Do you think that she’s friends with Mary Cherry (Leslie Grossman – her BFF on What I Like About You) in real life? “Shut your dirty whore mouth, player player!” Gosh I hope so.
Stay tuned later in the week for the entire interview with Facinelli. I know what you’re thinking… Can’t Hardly Wait!
Now that KYLE XY’s Season 2 is halfway done and the finale has aired, I’ve finally had the chance to post the rest of the MATT DALLAS Interview. If you missed Part 1 of the Matt Dallas Interview don’t forget to read up on that before sinking your teeth into the final segment.
Let Part 2 begin…
Question: What are your favorite character relationships on the show?
Matt Dallas: It’s hard because I love working with everyone on the show. Everytime I get to work with a member of the family or with Tom Foss it’s so great. I’d have to say that one of my favorite relationships to play with is the relationship with Nicole because they have such a different relationship than anyone else shares in the family. She tries to play this really maternal role to him and he wants to be normal and to be a kid but at the same time they know it just can’t be that way. She tries to be his guardian and to teach him things but at the same time, he’s teaching her so they’re on the same level and its such a fun relationship to explore.
At the same time I love to work with Tom Foss because they have such a cool relationship – he’s really mentoring Kyle and they have this strong, deep relationship that Tom Foss will never let Kyle see.
My favorite relationship to watch on the show, and it has nothing to do with me, is Josh and Andy. The two of them are so great together and I love watching their relationship on the show.
Question: What is your favorite Sour Patch Kid flavor?
Matt Dallas: Green, and I don’t even know what flavor that is. I just like the green ones. (more…)
Well it’s the last weekend of the summer and I’m off to the Great White North for a mini-getaway. Nothing says celebrate a United States holiday like spending said holiday in Canada. I’ll be in Montreal for the weekend, visiting those waydowntown and those speaking french. I so don’t speak french.
While I’m away, don’t forget to watch every episode of AMC’s seriously amazing MAD MEN on Sunday. Monday is an all day marathon of KYLE XY Season 2 over on ABC Family. I promise, on Monday – the Season Finale (of Part 1, Season 2) – I’ll get the rest of our interview with Kyle XY’s cutie Matt Dallas up. Read Part 1 now!
