Finally the Winchester Boys are back, but so are their issues! If you thought those two were “good” after that whole truthy-truth throwdown back in February, tonight proved everyone wrong. The boys could barely start their investigation of the week without Dean asking Sammy if he wants to do the job alone so he doesn’t “drag him down.” But they’re good… riiiiiight!
This week the boys head to a town where people haven’t died in a week. A cancer patient that had the plug pulled is now taking his wife out on the town for their 20th anniversary and another guy got shot point blank in the heart without even a drop of blood being spilled. Sounds like the usual! Welcome back boys. While I wasn’t sure about some of the methods the boys used this week, by the end I was sold on the fact that this was the only way to tell the story they needed to tell about Reapers and that pesky little holy war.
Here are some of my thoughts on last night’s SUPERNATURAL “Death Takes a Holiday”:
How much do I heart that the boys pretended to be bloggers? flooredbythelord.com: All God’s Glory Fit to Blog! (it’s not a real site, I checked)
Sam thinks that maybe people aren’t dying because there’s no one around to take them to out… ie, the Grim Reaper’s on vacation.
Dean: “Last I checked Huggy Bear ain’t available.”
Dean: “We’re no different than anyone else.”
Sam: “I’m infected with demon blood and you’ve been to hell. Look I know you want to think of yourself as Joe the Plumber Dean but you’re not. Neither am I. The sooner you accept that the better off you’ll be.”
Dean: “Joe the Plumber was a douche…”
Alastair returns (briefly) with a new body but the same evil bitchiness.
Alastair: “You’re stronger Sam. You been Soloflexing with that slut?”
After Sam and Alastair’s little confrontation Sammy goes lying to Dean again about what happened. I love that Dean called him out telling him he doesn’t care if he keeps his little secrets but don’t patronize him. It’s sad that this is how the boys are working lately.
Pamela Barnes is back! If you recall, for some reason I really dug her in the premiere and I was sad to think she wouldn’t be returning but here she is!
Sam: “Pamela Barnes, you’re a sight for sore eyes”
*Ducky Cringes*
Pamela: “Aww, that’s sweet Grumpy. What do you say to deaf people?”
Pamela calling Dean “Chachi” was genius! She needs to be around more often if it means more “Socs and Greaser” talk mixed in with has been groupie slut references, Ramones cd shout outs and more blind jokes than you can shake a walking stick at. She’s fun when she’s bitter. (more…)
I’m in Texas right now and haven’t had the chance to watch this past week’s episode of SUPERNATURAL and it’s killing me! Not only does it have the best title of any show this season, “Criss Angel is a Douchebag” it means that it’s been over a week since I’ve gotten my Winchester fix. That’s not right.
Thankfully I’ve got some video and pics from the next episode of SUPERNATURAL entitled “After School Special” to tide me over. Bring on Jensen in little short shorts and a little mini Sam and Dean!!!
Episode Summary: A FLASHBACK EPISODE TO YOUNG SAM AND DEAN IN HIGH SCHOOL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) go undercover to investigate a string of murders at their old high school. The case causes them to flashback to their time there recalling how Sam was picked on by the school bully while Dean was Mr. Popular. Adam Krane directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin
SUPERNATURAL returned with “Family Matters” and let me tell ya kids, it was in fine form tonight!
This is what I love about Supernatural this season, it’s found it’s footing and moves forward while staying true to it’s roots. What drew me into the show in the first place (aside from the smokin’ hotness of Jared and Jensen) was the horror aspect of the show. It was like a horror movie every week and then I grew to love the boys and the mythology.
“Family Matters” was a return to the first season of the show. It was a creepy thrill ride from beginning to end. There was some blood but not too much; same goes for suspense, humor and on-going story arcs.
The boys did their jobs, helped some people, kicked some evil ass and moved on to another city. Same old story right? Not so much… The best part was how they worked Dean’s guilt and pain into the storyline without it being heavy handed.
Not only did Dean have to wrestle with what he told Sammy in the last episode, he had to come clean about enjoying the torture he inflicted on the poor souls down under. It was heartbreaking… Dean is supernaturaldamaged and I can’t believe how dark they’ve gone – I kinda love it!
Now with that being said, if Dean starts giving speeches at the end of every episode like Buffy did in the final season, we may need to have words. Keep him tortured, semi-bottled and always ass kicking and we’ll be fine.
Oh did I mention that my girl Billie Jean was in the episode? I damn near bleached my hair, strapped on a wet suit top, grabbed a video camera and declared that “Fair is Fair!” Helen Slater you will always be Supergirl a legend to me – now let’s go get Binx’ scooter back from that bastard Hubie Pyatt.
Waiting for a new episode of SUPERNATURAL felt just as bad as Dean’s time down under, I have the scars to prove it folks! Well, thankfully the wait is over and those damn fine Winchester boys are back on our televisions.
Episode Summary: Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate the appearance of a young female ghost (guest star) in an abandoned house, but things become more complicated when a family moves in. The brothers fail to get the family to leave, but when the son is kidnapped though the walls, they look to Sam and Dean to rescue the boy. Kim Manners directed the episode written by Jeremy Carve

It’s the holiday season with the whoop-de-do and hickory dock and that can mean only one thing! The amazing editors at SUPERNATURAL decided to give fans a special holiday treat and that my friends kicks off my 12 Days of Christmas.
While it’s no “A Very Supernatural Christmas” it’s still something to make you look forward to after the holidays are over. Here is a sneak preview at the next 3 episodes of Supernatural.
Episode descriptions from that little Xmas treat are after the jump. Be warned, mild spoilers ahead… (more…)
SUPERNATURAL’s 4th season continues to creep, scare and chuckle its way into greatness and next week’s episode entitled “I Know What You Did Last Summer” delivers on a promise we’ve been waiting for all season.
We know that while Dean was away (you know, in hell and all), Sam had to play by his own rules… but what exactly happened in those four months and why is Ruby his newest ally? We’ll find out shortly…
Check out the first preview clips for Supernatural’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer”
Episode Summary:
SAM AND DEAN MEET ANNA, A GIRL WHO CAN HEAR THE ANGELS — Ruby (guest star Genevieve Cortese) tells Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) that a powerful demon named Alastair (guest star Mark Rolston) is searching for a girl named Anna (guest star Julie McNiven) who can hear the angels’ conversations. The three set out to find Anna but once they do, Alastair attacks them and Ruby escapes with the girl. Believing they were set up, Dean lashes out at Sam for trusting Ruby, so Sam tells him what happened during those months Dean was in Hell and how Ruby saved his life. Castiel (guest star Misha Collins) and Uriel (guest star Robert Wisdom) return and demand to be taken to Anna but not for the reason Dean thinks. Charles Beeson directed the episode written by Sera Gamble
I’m ashamed to admit that I’m a week behind on SUPERNATURAL but don’t worry, I’ll catch up before tonight’s episode entitled “Wishful Thinking”.
Episode Synopsis: Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a small town where the wishing well really works. A teddy bear comes to life, someone wins the lottery and the town geek gets a hot girlfriend. The brothers realize that while everyone is happy now, the end result will be disastrous. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Ben Edlund
Next week’s SUPERNATURAL episode is all about Halloween! I know some of you might be thinking that that sounds crazy seeing how “Monster Movie” seemed like their Halloween episode – well it wasn’t and we’ve been doubly blessed with SPN ghoulness.
Episode Description:
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate some strange Halloween-related deaths that are taking place in a town during the days leading up to the holiday itself. As they begin to solve the mystery, they also learn the real origins of Halloween and find themselves trying to save the entire town itself from a surprising pair of would-be assassins. Introducing Robert Wisdom (“The Wire”) as ‘Uriel,’ the episode also guest stars Misha Collins (“24”) as ‘Castiel.’ “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester” was written by Julie Siege and directed by Charles Beeson.
I’ve been helping the folks at SUPERNATURAL tease this cramazing “Eye of the Tiger” outtake/blooper clip for the last couple weeks so I’m more than pleased to bring you the entire clip in all it’s hilarious glory!
Watch Jensen Ackles rock out with his to “Eye of the Tiger”
in this Supernatural “Yellow Fever” outtake:
I feel like SUPERNATURAL’s “Yellow Fever” was so hyped in my own mind (and all over the blogosphere) that going into the episode I was expecting nothing but a little disappointment. I really enjoyed this episode but I don’t think it was one of the strongest this season. My opinion might change as time goes on because adding Lilith to the mix and having Sam’s eyes flash in those final moments were pretty great so…
Here are some of my favorite moments from Supernatural “Yellow Fever”:
Starting off with Dean being chased by that little dog with the pink bow… j’adorable
The look on Dean’s face when he realized that holding the heart actually was the best option (I hope Sam washed his face in acid after that spleen juice bukkake action)
Gamecocks and Cornjerkers
Seriously with the hand sanitizer Sheriff?
“Tyler and Perry, that’s just like Aerosmith”
Dean’s crazy paranoia (the dog, the harmless kids on the street, doing 20 mph, “Am I haunted?”, hotel rooms past the 1st floor, impersonating FBI agents, the before mentioned dog incident, Sam as YED)
EYE OF THE TIGER! (and don’t forget the outtake clip)
Hahaha, a disease that only latches onto dicks!
OMFG, I almost peed when Dean let out that girly scream when the cat jumped out of the locker! GENIUS!
Our introduction to this week’s baddie Luther Garland scared the shit out of me because it reminded me of the ending to The Blair Witch Project (visually that is)
“Is he drunk?”
Um, how gross that people are taking on the signs of Luther’s vicious dragging death? That’s hideous.
Dean’s crazy people speech was great. Jensen rocked it!
Gumby with Pokey getting dragged around by a rope… hilarious!
I like the idea behind killing this week’s big baddie aka ghosty. Kill it with fear.
LILITH! Oh gosh, that little bitch is hugging Dean. Oh she’s scarier than one of those Fanning kids. Seriously with the ba-booming? Kill that skank already.
Holy crap, Sam’s eyes quickly flashing yellow at the very end!
With Halloween just around the corner and the Scream Awards having just passed, the first real FRIDAY THE 13th reboot trailer has hit the internet (shown at the awards). Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki and The Mentalist’s Amanda Righetti star in what I hope is a cramazing revamp of the original.
I’m a psycho Friday the 13th fan with my favorites being 1, 2, 4, and 3 (in that order) and at Comic-Con I sat in on the panel which featured a killer trailer but the most boring panel of the weekend so I’m beyond excited to see a real trailer it the web.
In general I’m not a fan of reboots or remakes but I have to say that I really dug the Texas Chainsaw remake (back in 2003) by director Marcus Nispel so I’m not gonna lie, February 2009 can’t come soon enough.
Check out the beyond JPad lite trailer for Friday the 13th: Friday The 13th
*Pamela Voorhees’ speech narrating the trailer? Hotness! (sadly though, it’s NOT Betsy Palmer’s voice)
The real reason I wanted to post about Supernatural today was to pass on an incredible article praising the show we know and love while asking why the rest of the media elite hasn’t caught on yet.
Here’s a portion of Ed Martin’s piece:
Why doesn’t the mainstream television press pay more attention to The CW’s Supernatural?
The occasional story about this four-year-old franchise appears from time to time, but from its humble beginnings back on The WB, Supernatural has never received the kind of outsize coverage enjoyed by such genre series as ABC’s Lost or NBC’s Heroes, not to mention The X-Files during its nine-year-run on Fox or the vampire drama Moonlight during its all-too-brief single season on CBS. Fox’ brand new suspense drama Fringe, which continually crosses a moving line between science fiction and science fact, became a media darling even before it premiered and remains a favorite, even though it has yet to prove that it will over time live up to the early hype. (That’s not a slam against Fringe. It’s a perfectly decent series. It may evolve into a great series. But, to date, it is hardly the groundbreaking effort that the media mania surrounding it would suggest.)
Meanwhile, Supernatural sits on the sidelines, largely out of sight and out of mind, at least where television journalists are concerned. That may be due in part to the fact that they are more intently focused on the show’s formidable time period competition, including CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; NBC’s The Office, and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. But Supernatural survives and thrives opposite those shows, so where is the love? In all likelihood, some members of the TV elite dismiss it as a “horror” show starring two “pretty boys,” the likes of which populate many dramas on The CW, just as they did many dramas on The WB.
Well, I’ve been watching Supernatural this season and I am here to say that this series about demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester currently offers the strongest and most satisfying mythology storytelling of any genre show at present. That’s an incredible accomplishment, given the problems that so many series with intense mythologies suffer after one or two seasons. Here’s another plus: Supernatural doesn’t extend its mythology simply by layering mystery upon mystery upon mystery, a storytelling construct first overdone by Twin Peaks, and then by The X-Files, and more recently by Lost and, now, Heroes. (Does anyone understand what is happening on Heroes this season? More to the point, does anyone any longer care about any of the characters on that show?) Rather, Supernatural simply extends and deepens a story that is always very easy to follow, even when the plot turns and makes clear that everything one might have thought one knew about the central characters may not be true at all.

The CW is teasing us viewers about next week’s episode of SUPERNATURAL entitled “Yellow Fever.” Last Friday they released Surprise Clue #1 which I watched about 5x because it’s frakkin’ hilarious. Today Surprise Clue #2 was released for us to decipher.
Watch Supernatural “Yellow Fever” Surprise Clues #! and #2 below:
I had really high expectations going into SUPERNATURAL’s ambitious Season 4 B&W extravaganza “Monster Movie” and I’m bloody pleased to say that I loved it.
I’m a huge horror fan and the classic Universal Monsters hold a place near and dear to my blackened heart. Mix them with the hottest boys on television and hello, slam dunk!
Below are my thoughts as the episode played out. A live blog without blogging or being live.
Those pretzels, could they have been bigger?
Was that a JAWS shout out with the tourist season comment?
I didn’t know if Dean’s Maverick comment was brilliant because of Sarah Palin or Top Gun!
Hey Lucy the bar wench/shape shifter is Nicole from that show Whistler. God I miss that show. I’m so cheesy.
These Winchester’s look even hotter in B&W, who knew?
Dean: “I’ve been re-hymenated…”
Did anyone else notice how ridonkulously large all of the drinking vessels were? That stein and then Dean’s bear glass? Seriously?
I love the cheeky take on old movie conventions, reactions, and mannerisms… I expect nothing less from the masterminds behind this show.
Dean: “Hey, do you think this Dracula can turn into a bat? That’d be cooooool.”
The imagery of the Mummy coming out of his coffin was superb, as was the security guard’s reaction. I kinda wanted him to say “Holy Mary Mother of God” like in GOONIES but it didn’t happen.
Having a shape shifter be the killer and reenacting his favorite horror films and their killings was a good twist. I love that everything can be explained by Hollywood special effects and a little imagination.
Dean’s heart to heart with Jamie (the blond bar wench), almost convincing… he’s almost as good as Jensen.
“I just like to play the Casio”
I just can’t get over Dean’s lederhosen. J’adorable
Dracula has a coupon! Of course he does.
I applaud the shapeshifter’s commitment to the character all the way to the end.
If Dean was to turn his life into a real life movie, it would be PORKY’S 2. Obviously.
While this was an episode of homage and hijinks, there’s no denying that it truly highlights the talent and imagination of the writers this season. Far from a misstep in my opinion but what did you guys think?
