Tomorrow nights episode of SUPERNATURAL entitled “The Monster at the End of This Book” looks incredibly fun and remarkably meta. You can’t tell me that fangirls and boys everywhere wouldn’t kill for some Winchester romance novel action.
“The Monster at the End of This Book” Synopsis:
A VERY META SUPERNATURAL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are shocked to discover a series of comic books titled “Supernatural” that accurately detail their lives as demon hunters. They track down the writer, Carver Edlund (guest star Rob Benedict), who explains he has visions of the brothers that he then turns into comic books. Chuck reveals that Lilith (guest star Katherine Boecher) is coming and she has a plan for Sam. Mike Rohl directed the episode written by Julie Siege.
Teens today don’t get how ground breaking and revolutionary THE REAL WORLD was back when it hit the airwaves in 1992. It rocked my world. It captivated everyone my age. It spoke to teens in a way that television never had before. It represented American youth, good bad and the ugly in a way that seemed respectful and almost educational.
I sat there in awe of the social experiment before me and I fell in love with seven strangers because they were REAL!
For the last decade, the show has become a heinous train wreck full of despicable human beings and STDs. If The Real World of my youth taught me tolerance and diversity, The Real World of today is teaching people how to be whores, rageaholics and walking breast implants.
Before you jump down my throat, I have watched the Brooklyn cast and for the first time in a long time, the show seems like the show I fell in love with 17 years ago. Sure I wanna punch some of them in the face and tell them to grow the fuck up but overall, this season has been about tolerance and diversity. I like that. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that they featured the AIDS Ride (and The Center) I participate in heavily.
So… out of nowhere this MTV flick pops up called PEDRO: THE MOVIE and I’m sitting here shaking my head. WTF?!
Why make a fictionalized account of something we all witnessed on television and in the closest thing to reality we could? MTV surely has thousands of hours of footage from the San Francisco season so I don’t understand what the purpose of this film is.
Why hire 3rd rate actors (sorry kids) to sleep and/or ham their way through scenes we all know, love and can probably recite word for word when you have THE ACTUAL FUCKING FOOTAGE?
The target demo for MTV today is not people that remember Pedro or what he did for the face of AIDS in America. I don’t want to rehash it all but he really did give a face to a disease people thought always happened to “them.” It hit home for a lot of parents and he made an impact on America. He was a gay man living with AIDS who was well spoken, incredibly smart, handsome and genuinely beautiful as a person. It was good for people to see this and for President Clinton to embrace him. It helped lessen the stigma.
So what I don’t understand is why they’re making this movie and not just airing a documentary to honor him with real footage of the real man that is Pedro Zamora?
It’s really working my nerve. This bugs the shit out of me. It seems like exploitation at its finest but for what reason? I don’t get it.
I had just come out to my family right before the San Francisco season aired and it was huge for me to see an openly gay and normal guy representing my life in some way, shape or form. I grew to admire what he was doing, his mission and his importance. I watched as he and Sean committed themselves to each other. I watched as he got sick and was hospitalized. I watched his funeral for heavens sake and cried my eyes out. It was real and it was important to me. That’s why I’m pissed.
Whatever…
Have I seen the film? No. I’m passing judgment because well, the previews and the clips I’ve seen are horrifyingly bad. I know that Dustin Lance Black wrote the screenplay but that means nothing. There shouldn’t be a screenplay. He lived his life in front of the camera for a reason, to teach people about AIDS and tolerance. This only cheapens his mission in my eyes. That’s my right and my opinion.
Here’s the only thing I’ll promote that’s accompanying this film. Here’s a clip of President Clinton talking about Pedro and the impact his life had on all of us. It’s tasteful which is more than I can say for what MTV’s concocted… allegedly!
If you want to see what the real Pedro was all about, check this video out. Someone has placed the 1994 tribute MTV did about Pedro on youtube. It’s a duped VHS recording and that makes it all the more kick ass.

Finally the Winchester Boys are back, but so are their issues! If you thought those two were “good” after that whole truthy-truth throwdown back in February, tonight proved everyone wrong. The boys could barely start their investigation of the week without Dean asking Sammy if he wants to do the job alone so he doesn’t “drag him down.” But they’re good… riiiiiight!
This week the boys head to a town where people haven’t died in a week. A cancer patient that had the plug pulled is now taking his wife out on the town for their 20th anniversary and another guy got shot point blank in the heart without even a drop of blood being spilled. Sounds like the usual! Welcome back boys. While I wasn’t sure about some of the methods the boys used this week, by the end I was sold on the fact that this was the only way to tell the story they needed to tell about Reapers and that pesky little holy war.
Here are some of my thoughts on last night’s SUPERNATURAL “Death Takes a Holiday”:
How much do I heart that the boys pretended to be bloggers? flooredbythelord.com: All God’s Glory Fit to Blog! (it’s not a real site, I checked)
Sam thinks that maybe people aren’t dying because there’s no one around to take them to out… ie, the Grim Reaper’s on vacation.
Dean: “Last I checked Huggy Bear ain’t available.”
Dean: “We’re no different than anyone else.”
Sam: “I’m infected with demon blood and you’ve been to hell. Look I know you want to think of yourself as Joe the Plumber Dean but you’re not. Neither am I. The sooner you accept that the better off you’ll be.”
Dean: “Joe the Plumber was a douche…”
Alastair returns (briefly) with a new body but the same evil bitchiness.
Alastair: “You’re stronger Sam. You been Soloflexing with that slut?”
After Sam and Alastair’s little confrontation Sammy goes lying to Dean again about what happened. I love that Dean called him out telling him he doesn’t care if he keeps his little secrets but don’t patronize him. It’s sad that this is how the boys are working lately.
Pamela Barnes is back! If you recall, for some reason I really dug her in the premiere and I was sad to think she wouldn’t be returning but here she is!
Sam: “Pamela Barnes, you’re a sight for sore eyes”
*Ducky Cringes*
Pamela: “Aww, that’s sweet Grumpy. What do you say to deaf people?”
Pamela calling Dean “Chachi” was genius! She needs to be around more often if it means more “Socs and Greaser” talk mixed in with has been groupie slut references, Ramones cd shout outs and more blind jokes than you can shake a walking stick at. She’s fun when she’s bitter. (more…)
I’m in Texas right now and haven’t had the chance to watch this past week’s episode of SUPERNATURAL and it’s killing me! Not only does it have the best title of any show this season, “Criss Angel is a Douchebag” it means that it’s been over a week since I’ve gotten my Winchester fix. That’s not right.
Thankfully I’ve got some video and pics from the next episode of SUPERNATURAL entitled “After School Special” to tide me over. Bring on Jensen in little short shorts and a little mini Sam and Dean!!!
Episode Summary: A FLASHBACK EPISODE TO YOUNG SAM AND DEAN IN HIGH SCHOOL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) go undercover to investigate a string of murders at their old high school. The case causes them to flashback to their time there recalling how Sam was picked on by the school bully while Dean was Mr. Popular. Adam Krane directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin
SUPERNATURAL returned with “Family Matters” and let me tell ya kids, it was in fine form tonight!
This is what I love about Supernatural this season, it’s found it’s footing and moves forward while staying true to it’s roots. What drew me into the show in the first place (aside from the smokin’ hotness of Jared and Jensen) was the horror aspect of the show. It was like a horror movie every week and then I grew to love the boys and the mythology.
“Family Matters” was a return to the first season of the show. It was a creepy thrill ride from beginning to end. There was some blood but not too much; same goes for suspense, humor and on-going story arcs.
The boys did their jobs, helped some people, kicked some evil ass and moved on to another city. Same old story right? Not so much… The best part was how they worked Dean’s guilt and pain into the storyline without it being heavy handed.
Not only did Dean have to wrestle with what he told Sammy in the last episode, he had to come clean about enjoying the torture he inflicted on the poor souls down under. It was heartbreaking… Dean is supernaturaldamaged and I can’t believe how dark they’ve gone – I kinda love it!
Now with that being said, if Dean starts giving speeches at the end of every episode like Buffy did in the final season, we may need to have words. Keep him tortured, semi-bottled and always ass kicking and we’ll be fine.
Oh did I mention that my girl Billie Jean was in the episode? I damn near bleached my hair, strapped on a wet suit top, grabbed a video camera and declared that “Fair is Fair!” Helen Slater you will always be Supergirl a legend to me – now let’s go get Binx’ scooter back from that bastard Hubie Pyatt.
Waiting for a new episode of SUPERNATURAL felt just as bad as Dean’s time down under, I have the scars to prove it folks! Well, thankfully the wait is over and those damn fine Winchester boys are back on our televisions.
Episode Summary: Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate the appearance of a young female ghost (guest star) in an abandoned house, but things become more complicated when a family moves in. The brothers fail to get the family to leave, but when the son is kidnapped though the walls, they look to Sam and Dean to rescue the boy. Kim Manners directed the episode written by Jeremy Carve

Supernatural “Family Remains” airs tonight at 9pm on The CW
My boy Jensen Ackles was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and the boy was looking all sorts of adorable in his grandpa meets nerd outfit. He talked a little bit about SUPERNATURAL and a little bit about My Bloody Valentine 3D but if you want, just turn the sound down and enjoy the hotness kids…
It’s the holiday season with the whoop-de-do and hickory dock and that can mean only one thing! The amazing editors at SUPERNATURAL decided to give fans a special holiday treat and that my friends kicks off my 12 Days of Christmas.
While it’s no “A Very Supernatural Christmas” it’s still something to make you look forward to after the holidays are over. Here is a sneak preview at the next 3 episodes of Supernatural.
Episode descriptions from that little Xmas treat are after the jump. Be warned, mild spoilers ahead… (more…)
SUPERNATURAL’s 4th season continues to creep, scare and chuckle its way into greatness and next week’s episode entitled “I Know What You Did Last Summer” delivers on a promise we’ve been waiting for all season.
We know that while Dean was away (you know, in hell and all), Sam had to play by his own rules… but what exactly happened in those four months and why is Ruby his newest ally? We’ll find out shortly…
Check out the first preview clips for Supernatural’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer”
Episode Summary:
SAM AND DEAN MEET ANNA, A GIRL WHO CAN HEAR THE ANGELS — Ruby (guest star Genevieve Cortese) tells Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) that a powerful demon named Alastair (guest star Mark Rolston) is searching for a girl named Anna (guest star Julie McNiven) who can hear the angels’ conversations. The three set out to find Anna but once they do, Alastair attacks them and Ruby escapes with the girl. Believing they were set up, Dean lashes out at Sam for trusting Ruby, so Sam tells him what happened during those months Dean was in Hell and how Ruby saved his life. Castiel (guest star Misha Collins) and Uriel (guest star Robert Wisdom) return and demand to be taken to Anna but not for the reason Dean thinks. Charles Beeson directed the episode written by Sera Gamble
I’m ashamed to admit that I’m a week behind on SUPERNATURAL but don’t worry, I’ll catch up before tonight’s episode entitled “Wishful Thinking”.
Episode Synopsis: Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a small town where the wishing well really works. A teddy bear comes to life, someone wins the lottery and the town geek gets a hot girlfriend. The brothers realize that while everyone is happy now, the end result will be disastrous. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Ben Edlund

Next week’s SUPERNATURAL episode is all about Halloween! I know some of you might be thinking that that sounds crazy seeing how “Monster Movie” seemed like their Halloween episode – well it wasn’t and we’ve been doubly blessed with SPN ghoulness.
Episode Description:
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate some strange Halloween-related deaths that are taking place in a town during the days leading up to the holiday itself. As they begin to solve the mystery, they also learn the real origins of Halloween and find themselves trying to save the entire town itself from a surprising pair of would-be assassins. Introducing Robert Wisdom (“The Wire”) as ‘Uriel,’ the episode also guest stars Misha Collins (“24”) as ‘Castiel.’ “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester” was written by Julie Siege and directed by Charles Beeson.
Hopefully Kripke wasn’t reading my blog today and that’s what spurned his response to the fans that I’ve printed below.
In response to fan reactions to the “Yellow Fever” mystery of the week, SUPERNATURAL creator Eric Kripke wants to clear some things up… about Dean’s dick… or rather Dean being a dick. Hey we can all dream.
“So I’ve never before responded directly to the fandom’s comments about an episode, and I don’t plan to make a habit of it, but I couldn’t resist dropping in a thought about the episode “Yellow Fever.”
Which is this:
Dean is not a dick.
None of the writers, or anyone on the creative team of Supernatural, think Dean’s ever been a dick, past, present, or future. He’s a hero. Dean did NOT contract the ghost sickness because he’s a dick. Victims contract the illness because they use “fear as a weapon.” Dean asks Lilith at the episode’s end, “why did I get infected?” And she cryptically responds, “you know why. Listen to your heart.” We, as the writers, probably should have emphasized this mystery more, I take responsibility for that omission. But the point is: the reason he was infected is because of a SECRET he’s keeping. A dark secret that will be revealed in Episode 10. And not at all because of any dickishness, implied or otherwise.
Thanks, gang.”
It’s kinda great that he used bloggers to get the word out to the people, no? Love that guy.
