On today’s Oprah, T.R. Knight composed a video serenade to his BFF and Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl. It’s awkward but adorable and big props to T.R. for using the Oprah forum to encourage Gay Marriage!

UPDATED: The Golden Globes as we know them are dead (this year at least). According to Variety.com…

NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. are trying to work out a deal to present Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards as an hourlong NBC News special featuring award winners reacting from parties or a press room at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

As of Monday afternoon, HFPA was in talks with the Writers Guild of America to determine whether the guild would still picket the event, thus deterring top celebs from appearing. NBC News scribes are covered under a separate NABET contract from the entertainment division and are not on strike against the net.

Sources cautioned that the sides are still discussing the particulars of the deal, and it could quickly fall apart if the WGA refuses to hold back its pickets. The HFPA’s hope is to still have a red carpet procession and the traditional Globes parties. Notion is that stars would go down the red carpet and then proceed to the various parties. At a set time an HFPA official would read will off the film and TV winners on the live telecast. Cameras would then cut to star reactions from the various party sites, or winners would have the option of heading to a press room to give reaction statements.

ORIGINAL POST:

I have to admit it, if NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press decide to cancel this Sunday’s Golden Globes I’ll be a little sad. I traditionally love watching the Golden Globes because the celebrities are loose lipped from all the booze stock piled at each table, this year I was looking forward to seeing those same celebrities be loose lipped… on the picket lines just outside!

With SAG vowing that no member will attend, what would NBC come up with for a telecast? Would one of the Attorney’s from Price Waterhouse or better yet L.A. Law’s McKenzie & Brackman get up there and wing it in the absence of a celebrity host? Maybe NBC should get creative and face the picket lines head on.

Can you imagine the always outspoken Katherine Heigl accepting an award from the picket lines? That’s what I want to see! I’d kill to have mutt-faced Rumor Willis (this year’s Ms. Golden Globes) walk the line in some ridiculous Flashdance like oversized sweatshirt and a beret handing out the gold statue to each and every winner as they scream “Fair Is Fair” for all the world to see. Why not take it to the streets NBC?

I guarantee that they’ll have the highest ratings in years if that was the case! Something to ponder.

The WGA Strike is about to take away television but before that happens, there’s plenty for GMMR and I to talk about!

Dan and Kath are back for TV Podcast #16, and it’s all about the shows! It’s not about the strike, it’s just us talking about what we’ve loved and hated about television over the past couple weeks. I’m going to warn you now, it’s an hour long podcast. We haven’t talked in a while so sit back, relax, and listen to us in 2 sittings if that makes it easier. Thanks for sticking with us!

We tackle each day’s best and worst starting with Monday and working our way all the way to the lazy nights of Sunday. Chuck, HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, Prison Break, Heroes, House, Bones, Reaper, Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Supernatural, Moonlight, Friday Night Lights, Torchwood, The Amazing Race, Brothers & Sisters, Dexter, and more. Phew, who’s tired already?

Finally, ABC has released a couple of GREY’S ANATOMY Season 4 Promos and I hate to admit it, it’s got me psyched, seriously.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 Sneak Peek – Our Ex-Interns Meet The Newbies:

Another Sneak Peek at Grey’s Anatomy Season 4:

How crazy is it to see George as an Intern, working under Meredith? It’s humiliating to watch… I love it! Christina is trying to become the new Nazi and it’s hysterical. Alex’s hair is bothersome. Izzie’s deflation at realizing those interns don’t already know to follow her was just superb. Heigl, I loves ya!

With Private Practice shaping up to be a huge flop (sadly, the pilot sucks) and Isaiah out of the way, I guess I can look forward to Grey’s Anatomy again.

Check out the Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 Promo Shots.
Read all about my Season 3 ups and downs… Can Grey’s Anatomy Revive Itself?

Jason Katims has joined the creative team at BIONIC WOMAN. Ausiello has the scoop, but in general, the Roswell creator and Friday Night Lights Executive Producer will be working his magic as a consulting producer for the possibly ailing NBC reboot.

I wonder if Isaiah Washington will grill Katims about Katherine Heigl’s mouth from back in the day.

GREY’S ANATOMY has a big mountain to climb as it enters its 4th season on ABC. As you know, I’ve had my ups and downs with the show but I’m willing to give it another shot.

Here are the newest cast photos of TR Knight, Eric Dane, Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers and newbie Chyler Leigh as Meredith’s sister Lexie Grey. For some reasons the photos of Sara Ramirez and Patrick Dempsey are not new ones. If those are released I will post them asap!

Seriously, how cute does TR look? Love the picture of Sandra Oh as well. Looking good! Being free of Burke looks like it’s doing her some good!

    Season 4 Premise:
Entering their first year as residents after passing their intern exams, Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens and Alex Karev now have interns of their own to mentor. Among the new crop of interns are George (forced to repeat his internship after failing his exams) and Lexie Grey, Meredith’s half-sister.

Overseeing the residents is the newly-appointed Chief Resident, Callie Torres. With the no-nonsense Miranda Bailey earning the interns’ respect over the past year, the new residents are finding it difficult to report to someone else, particularly George’s wife.

Bailey, who is displeased with Dr. Webber after he chose Callie for Chief Resident over her, must find her bearings within the hospital pecking order. While she finds her footing, Webber resumes his position as Chief of Surgery, doing his best to maintain a work/life balance for the sake of his recently-reunited marriage.
Two weeks after being left by her fiancé on her wedding day, Cristina returns to the hospital from her honeymoon accompanied by Meredith, who badly needed an escape of her own after her relationship with Derek Shepherd hit an emotional impasse. Cristina relies on what she always has – her ability as a surgeon – to cope with the break-up.

Mark Sloan wishes to renew his friendship with his old friend, Derek, who could sorely use a friend after Addison’s move, Burke’s resignation and his rocky relationship with Meredith.

The doctors of Seattle Grace Hospital deal with life-or-death consequences on a daily basis – it’s in one another that they find comfort, friendship and, at times, more than friendship. Together they’re discovering that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white. Real life only comes in shades of grey.

Grey’s Anatomy premieres Thursday, September 27th at 9pm.

Don’t forget to watch Addison’s spin-off Private Practice on Wednesday’s.

GREY’S ANATOMY lost its way last season. It was uneven in plot development, character development and to be honest at times the show was borderline soap opera – like Passions, not General Hospital.

I personally went from out of my mind excited and enthused about the show to wanting to never watch another frame of film to being optimistic in the matter of one season. That’s a lot of emotional highs and lows.

    The High:
It was mid July 2006 when a certain video hit youtube and rocked my world, shooting my anticipation for the upcoming season of Grey’s to an all time high and leaving me mesmerized and a little teary eyed. That video, The Fray’s “How To Save a Life” was the promotional mashup of Season 3 premiere footage and Fray’s music video footage and it was pure emotional genius. It was a manipulative masterpiece, and the second I finished it, I played it again, then another time before forwarding it to every person I know and posting on my blog.

    Let’s watch shall we:

God remember how you just watched that and hypothesized whether or not the woods scenes were part of the show, was there a car crash – is someone dead? The questions were almost too much! Callie was dancing in her underwear and I felt closer to her and girl power than I ever had before (being a male and all). Then there’s the moment. The moment that sealed the deal for me and Season 3. The shots of Izzie on the bathroom floor after Denny’s death. Then the moment of moments, Meredith reaches out and grabs her hand and there’s that bone crushing but it doesn’t matter because the emotional pain is worse than the physical pain squeeze. I almost wept watching a music video!

TEEN CHOICE AWARDS – LIVE on FOX (8pm)

Raise your hands if you think High School Musical 2 will kick some booty tonight? My girl Kelly Clarkson is going to be performing! Work it girl. Also performing tonight, Fergie doing that damn song I love “Big Girls Don’t Cry” – no they don’t! Oh and hideous Avril Lavigne will perform too.

Celebrities scheduled to appear at TEEN CHOICE 2007 include Jessica Alba, America Ferrera, Megan Fox , Emmy Rossum, Lauren Conrad, Jordin Sparks, Miley Cyrus, Anna Paquin, Vanessa Hudgens, Eve, Dane Cook , Jared Padalecki, Taylor Kitsch, Steve Carell, Shia LaBeouf, Ryan Seacrest, David Spade, Michael Cera, Jonah Hill & Christopher Minze-Plasse, Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and musicians Bow Wow, Ludacris, Chingy, Ashlee Simpson, The Jonas Brothers, Omarion and Sum 41.

I normally wouldn’t even mention that the TEEN CHOICE AWARDS are on tonight, but as I was looking at the list of nominees, I couldn’t help wonder how old the teens are. I mean, did they poll adult actors who play teens on television shows? Look at the nominees and tell me if you find any of it strange?

I almost forgot the Emmy nominations were this morning. Silly me. There are some fun additions to this years Emmy list and sadly there are still a few head scratching oldies thrown in for good measure.

Grey’s Anatomy will be entering its 4th season this fall and love or hate it, the show must go on. TVSquad has compiled a list of SPOILERS for the upcoming season (and some from the end of Season 3) and it’s a fun read.

Head on over to TV Squad for Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers

While this is not really a spoiler, its good to see that Kristin over at E! is reporting that Shonda Rhimes is in a pickle about what to do with the hideously bad pairing of George and Izzie. Amen Shonda, I hope you have nightmares over it because its hands down one of the worst things you’ve allowed happen on the show. FIX IT! Period.

My favorite video online today is a wonderful video of Michael Cera auditioning for Knocked Up. Obviously Cera is a comedic genius (see Arrested Development) and this video is a joke released to mock the now famous video of Lily Tomlin freaking out on Director David O. Russell. Knocked Up opens tomorrow and stars the shaggy and loveable Seth Rogan as well as the way too pretty for Seth Rogan, Katherine Heigl.

Not only is Michael Cera pitch perfect, Katherine Heigl rocks it out as the pained and stuck in the middle costar. Genius! Frakking Genius! This is the biggest internet geek squad marketing campaign for a movie made by a bunch of self declared geeks and I for one cannot wait to see Knocked Up this week.

     Sandra Oh, Grey’s Anatomy

What is my problem tonight. First I cry during Part 1 of Supernatural (from last week watched early tonight), then The Office slays me, now I just finished the last two hours of Grey’s Anatomy for the season and I’m a puddle.

    Seriously, I need some meds.

I’ve bitched and moaned for the last four months that Grey’s Anatomy had run itself into the ground. It had not only jumped sharks, but ferry boats, and the afterlife. I was so mad and disgusted with the direction of Grey’s that I lost hope in what was once one of my favorite shows on television.

Last week’s episode and tonight’s episode watched back to back restored my faith in Shonda Rhimes, the cast, the crew, and the world that is Seattle Grace. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very upset about the Ferry debacle, and the whole George/Izzie crap but damnit… for two hours, the last two hours of this frustrating season I found peace and hope once again and remembered why I loved the show in the first place.

It’s honest, sometimes horribly disfiguringly honest and it’s emotional and real and it makes me cry and want to feel and want to experience the fictional lives of these interns on a recurring basis.

If I can somehow forgive a good 9 episodes, I think I can find my way back to a show that really has the potential to be one of the most heartfelt dramas around.

I remember how excited I was at this time last year when that really funny upfronts video came out with the men of Grey’s in the shower. I remember how I cried sitting at my desk at work when the promo video for The Fray’s “How to Save a Life” hit the internet and how insanely crazed I was for the third season to start.

I remember crying my eyes out as Izzie lay on the floor of the bathroom in her prom dress and Meredith came and they clutched hands and just squeezed the pain away.

These are the memories I want of Grey’s and Shonda and Co. managed to bring me there again for these last two hours. I appreciate that and I hope that it’s a sign of good things to come.

    Now, onto the finale thoughts…

duckyxdaleAs a TV Blogger, its hard to find the time to watch all the shows you love (and sometimes hate) and to then find the time to write something entertaining for folks to read. You want the right blend of recap information along with personal comments, some snark, and hopefully plenty of humor. It’s a daunting task at times, espcially if you’re busy one night, or two nights, and then at your day job… its a spiraling down effect that all the sudden leaves you going, “Huh, it’s too late to talk about LOST now…”

So I’m going to quickly cover some of the shows I watched this past week in an effort to gear me up for this coming week. After the jump I’ll talk about The Black Donnellys, Top Model, Lost, The Riches, Supernatural, Degrassi, Ace of Cakes, 24, and Grey’s Anatomy.

Grey's CastAnother Awards show and the Grey’s Anatomy gossip continues…

Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey “The Nazi”) won a SAG Award on Sunday night and in her acceptance speech (which was infectious/embarassing with giddiness) she make what could be a friendly show of support or a genius dig.

“It’s about those 10 cast members sitting over there and the other one in rehab. Y’all just hold me together.”

THE OTHER ONE IN REHAB!  Genius.  I almost died when that came out of her mouth.

Then, Katherine Heigl shed a little light on the state of affairs with Isaiah Washington and his character Burke.

“As far as we know, he’s seeking treatment right now to help with some of his issues,” Heigl told E! anchor Ryan Seacrest. “We don’t know when he’ll be back, or for how long, or what that entails.”

Interesting… I love KHeigl uncensored!  God, as you know I hope he’s back for a very short period of time and then he high tails it outta Seattle Grace.  Homophobe.

As for the outfits on these folks last night – noone tops Sara Ramirez’s slamming digs.  She looks amazing.  I love that we have a curvy girl who’s very sexy and secure in her body rocking the airwaves.  TR looked cute as can be.  KHeigl didn’t go as dark as she has been with the eye makeup and I’m loving it.  Seriously though with Ellen P.’s do(nt)?  Seriously…
