TV Talk with GMMR and Ducky is finally back! We discuss the new fall schedule day by day and break down our returning faves and possible new must-sees.
From Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, Chuck to Heroes and My Own Worst Enemy on Monday. Tuesday’s are Biggest Loser, House, 90210, Privileged to Fringe and The Mentalist. Wednesday’s are all about Pushing Daisies, Bones, Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money and Lipstick Jungle. Over on Thursday’s we’ve got Ugly Betty, Survivor, Kath & Kim, Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, 30 Rock, Supernatural, Life on Mars and Eleventh Hour. Friday night is all about The Ghost Whisperer (I kid) and The Ex-List and Life. Sunday’s we’re freaking out that The Amazing Race is back, Desperate Housewives, Cold Case, Dexter and Brothers & Sisters.
It’s a busy season folks, sit back and relax because we talk forever.
CHUCK’s newest challenge is tackling a 22 episode order without missing a beat. NBC has finally given the superb freshman action/comedy Chuck a full season order.
That’s great news considering I completely forgot to DVR Chuck Bartowski and friends tonight and it’s now 9:05 p.m. — whoops.
Oh yeah, the peacock also gave LIFE a full season pickup. I didn’t even realize that was still on the air.
The lamest of awards, The People’s Choice Award nominees were announced this morning and I’m happy to report that in the NEW categories, some of my faves are for once represented. The list is actually not too bad this year.

Tonight is when your television wants to explode. It’s too much, Wednesday’s are just simply too much. Let me pose a question to all of you out there. How do you watch 3 shows at once? How do you possibly try to watch your returning faves and the newbies and have a life and a relationship and whatever when there’s so much quality television on these days.
I’m dropping one or two shows from my schedule, have to… no way around it. This is when reality kicks in and says, “STOP WATCHING TELEVISION.” I’ll iTunes something to watch on the subway to and from work but I haven’t decided which 9pm show that will be. Bionic Woman will drop off iTunes in December (if its even added by NBC) so that could cause issues but I feel that is the one to go. When will the other networks jump on the ON DEMAND bandwagon like CBS has? That makes life easier as well. Come on now!
Here’s what Ducky’s watching tonight:
8pm – America’s Next Top Model has their Top 13 working a anti-smoking ad campaign which will surely be non-modely but I don’t care because I love the show.
9pm – Gossip Girl’s first non-pilot episode is called “The Wild Brunch” and I can only hope it lives up to the hype.
10pm – Dirty Sexy Money will finally introduce the world to the Darlings! I heart the Darlings!
Also Premiering Tonight:
Criminal Minds (CBS)n
CSI:NY (CBS)
Deal or no Deal (NBC)
*New Show: BIONIC WOMAN (NBC)
*New Show: LIFE (NBC)
*New Show: PRIVATE PRACTICE (ABC)
9 out of 10 dentists agree… The TV Blogging community is a semi-incestuous circle of friends and frenemies so we all collaborated on a WHAT TO WATCH THIS FALL poll.
As you can see, PUSHING DAISIES, CHUCK, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, and REAPER are the top choices and no surprises here, CAVEMEN is the show we least want to see.
LEGEND
1 – Don’t waste your time unless you find ACCORDING TO JIM ‘funny’
2 – Not great but at least doesn’t offend me.
3 – Fun to watch if nothing else is on.
4 – Has potential. Worth a second look.
5 – Set your TiVo to Season’s Pass!
N/A – Haven’t watched yet.

I would like to say though that I am way off in my rating for Private Practice. I gave it a higher rating out of spite as I was in my Grey’s funk and after seeing the first real episode, I’m pretty worried about Addy and Co. I’m revising my Private Practice to a 3.
LIFE Premieres: Wednesday, September 26th at 10pm Network: NBC
Cast: Damien Lewis as Det. Charlie Crews, Sarah Shahi as Dani Reese, Adam Arkin as Ted Early, Robin Weigert as Lt. Karen Davis, Brooke Langton as Constance Griffiths, and Brent Sexton as Bobby Stark

Premise: From Rand Ravich (“The Astronaut’s Wife”), Far Shariat (“Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”), and David Semel, who directed the pilot of NBC’s “Heroes,” “Life” is a new drama about a detective who is given a second chance. Damian Lewis (“Band of Brothers”) stars as complex, offbeat Detective Charlie Crews, who, thanks to close friend and attorney Constance Griffiths (Brooke Langton), returns to the force after serving time in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
The cast also includes Sarah Shahi (“Rush Hour 3″) as Charlie’s skeptical, demanding partner, Robin Weigert (HBO’s “Deadwood”) as their hard-hitting lieutenant, and Adam Arkin (“Chicago Hope”) as Crews’ former cellmate Ted Earley.
“Life” is a Universal Media Studios production. Rand Ravich is executive producer and writer; Far Shariat and Dan Sackheim are executive producers on the series; David Semel is executive producer and director on the pilot.
Ducky’s Thoughts: I’ve actually not yet seen this pilot but I love Sarah Shahi and Robin Weigert. Damien Lewis I can take or leave, no issues there. Adam Arkin is always good for a solid performance yet I’m worried about Brooke Langton. Her stint on Friday Night Lights was fine, she did a credible job (and I’m glad she’s gone) but there’s still something so D-grade about her. That was mean.
Overall, I don’t think that LIFE is a show that I will watch. Plus, it’s in a rough timeslot, ya know?
If you live in the New York or Los Angeles, you’re in luck! The Paley Center for Media is previewing the best and brightest from the upcoming Fall TV Season.

On Demand will begin broadcasting the premiere of four NBC shows on September 10th. CHUCK, BIONIC WOMAN, LIFE, and JOURNEYMAN will all be available on Comcast, Time Warner, Cox and Charter.
NBC’s 30-minute Fall TV Preview Special will also be made available as well as special promos for HEROES and deleted scenes from THE OFFICE and 30 ROCK.
Here is a great article from Boston.com and Associated Press about the British Invasion on the American Fall TV Schedule. All of my favorite new shows are listed including CHUCK, PUSHING DAISIES, MOONLIGHT, BIONIC WOMAN, and NEW AMSTERDAM. It’s a fun quick read and pretty interesting when you think about it.
A bevy of British actors, most sporting American accents, are being yanked across the pond and into US prime time this fall.
“Everybody’s going!” exclaims Sophia Myles as she waited, bags packed, for her work visa to arrive. The British beauty’s movie credits include Isolde in the historical romance “Tristan & Isolde” and the upcoming sci-fi action film “Outlander.” But now she’s reporter Beth Turner in “Moonlight,” the vampire-themed crime series, premiering on CBS Sept. 28.
Kevin McKidd wasn’t “going to do it” when first offered the role of time-traveling American journalist Dan Vassar in “Journeyman,” debuting on NBC Sept. 24. But Liam Neeson, with whom he worked on the movie “Kingdom of Heaven,” took him aside and suggested he “rethink.” He did, and now the Scottish actor, familiar to HBO viewers as Lucius Vorenus in the historical drama “Rome,” has moved his family to Los Angeles. “Luckily, I have a brave wife who knows the game. It’s a gamble, but then this life always is,” he says.

NBC was first to kick off UPFRONTS! This is the week where every network blows their load and announces the new shows and lineups for the upcoming Fall TV season.
Of the new shows NBC has to offer, I’m only interested in the following two dramas and one comedy.
LIFE (Wednesday’s 10pm)
It’s about some guy that gets a second chance at life. Fine, not the best concept but the supporting cast is great. Sexy (last seen as a lesbo) Sarah Shahi, Deadwood (and Juliet’s sister on LOST) alum Robin Weigert, and Adam Arkin join Damian Lewis for what will hopefully be a good show.
LIPSTICK JUNGLE (Sunday’s 10pm)
Sure Candace Bushnell is behind this show and its kinda like a sequel to Sex & The City but PPD-Survivor Brooke Shields stars along with Kim Raver (Audrey from 24) and Lindsey Price (hello, 90210 – but sadly still not Emily Valentine) will be working it as the NYC power women who I’m sure are looking for love and companionship in all the wrong places.
And the only Comedy I’m even remotely interested in stars one of my TV Crush’s JOEL MCHALE (The Soup on E! – So Meaty) and it’s called The IT Crowd. Granted, I was into it by title alone because I used to love that movie The IN Crowd and for a minute I thought maybe it was a show based on that movie. But, then I realized that Joel McHale’s in it and whatever he’s doing, I’m all about it.
I’m semi-interested in BIONIC WOMAN because well, let’s face it… it’s the BIONIC WOMAN and I had her lunchbox as a kid.
