I’m basically Liz’ing myself waiting for LOST Season 6 to begin! We’re less than two weeks away from the beginning of the end and I can’t stand the anticipation any longer. Plus, that means we’re only weeks away from the return of TV Talk Podcast listener favorite… TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST!

My friend Nancy is heading to the beaches of Hawaii in a few days to watch the premiere beachside, take the LOST island tour and just chill like one of the 815. Aside from being crazy jealous and wanting to slap her, I’m so excited that someone in my life will get to experience that crazy greatness!

With no beachside premiere in my future and only time to kill before we find out if Juliet’s really dead, if Locke and Titus Welliver are one in the same and if Richard Alpert will still look mascara clad and smokin’ hot, I suggest we spend some time with the following videos. They’re pretty frakkin’ great.

LOST “It’s Raining Bears”

LOST: The Final Season premieres February 2nd on ABC!

The 67th Golden Globes Awards air tonight on NBC! I’m not a person that puts a lot of stock in awards shows but I do love me an awards show gathering. It’s chips and dip time y’all! Oh and the fact that Ricky Gervais is hosting makes this must watch television.

As I sit here this morning looking at the list of Golden Globes nominees, I’m realizing I don’t have much of an opinion when it comes to the film categories. Apparently I spend too much time watching films that grace the festival circuit and not the multiplex.

Does that mean I don’t have an opinion? Hardly, I always have an opinion!

Here’s how I’d like to see the Golden Globes shakedown when they air tonight (my picks are in bold). I’m not saying this is what I think will win, but in my heart what I wish would take home the golden sparkly thing. Let’s start with TV!

Best Television Series: Drama
“Mad Men”
“True Blood”
“Dexter”
“Big Love”
“House”
I really wanted to say TRUE BLOOD but some of that Maryann shit got cuckoo bananas and derailed the show at times. MAD MEN is always fucking crazy good but this season took some time to completely hook me. DEXTER on the other hand had possibly its best season to date. So gooooooooood!

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series: Drama
Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”
Hugh Laurie, “House”
Michael C. Hall, “Dexter”
Simon Baker, “The Mentalist”
Bill Paxton, “Big Love”
No contest in my opinion… Michael C. Hall should win. He played the charming, dutiful husband and father with LEAVE IT TO BEAVER grace but he also played a manic, hell bent, jealous and at times loose canon Dex this season. Scary good.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series: Drama
Anna Paquin, “True Blood”
Kyra Sedgwick, “The Closer”
Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife”
Glenn Close, “Damages”
January Jones, “Mad Men”
While I thought January Jones did a killer job this season, she’s no Glenn Close. But I didn’t pick Glenn Close because I’m ready for a newbie this year. I’m going with Julianna Margulies because her controlled yet crazy empowering portrayal of Alicia Florrick is mesmerizing to watch.

Best Television Series: Comedy
“30 Rock”
“The Office”
“Glee”
“Modern Family”
“Entourage”
Surely most of you thought I’d pick GLEE for this category. While I think it has a better chance at winning (I mean its hands down the most original series of the year), I’m still going with MODERN FAMILY! Family continues to be a smart, witty, laugh out loud dark family comedy that hits your heart from week to week. Best Series in any category… Period!

The rest of my Golden Globes TV and Film predictions are after the jump… (more…)

Another month, another sickness induced hiatus and not one but two surgeries later, GMMR and Ducky are back with a new TV Talk Podcast!

Your favorite carcasters are back to talk about all of the TV we’ve soaked in from our hospital and sick beds.

We kick off the podcast with the Season 6 finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Then we move on to the fall finales of GLEE and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

We sink our teeth into some TRUE BLOOD casting news then tackle the return of faves CHUCK and LOST.

MODERN FAMILY and THE OFFICE were Christmas fantastic, as were 30 ROCK and the increasingly brilliant PARKS & RECREATION.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and THE BIG BANG THEORY are always worth a good conversation as is the debate over THE GOOD WIFE.

What else is on tap? How about MERCY, IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, THE SING-OFF, SAY YES TO THE DRESS, HAPPILY EVER FASTER and LAUNCH MY LINE.

Did the right people win TOP CHEF and PROJECT RUNWAY? Who’s real pretty to look at and what’s our new TV Talk Podcast tagline?

Thanks for being so patient with our crazy illnesses and busy schedules. We wish we could podcast more regularly than we do and we think it’s amazing so many folks care about what we have to say regarding all things TV! You guys are the best.

you’re a fan of LOST and all of their new media marketing, you’ve hopefully checked out LOST Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative.

I don’t know about you but anything LOST related that can help tame the beast until LOST airs its final season this spring is welcomed. Mysteries is a 5 part video series made possible in part by Kia’s newest vehicle the Kia Forte.

Listed as “the first of its kind” there’s really no better tag-line that could describe both the Forte and LOST.

“There have been many firsts throughout time. Like the invention of the engine, the first vehicle to be incredibly safe, the first vehicle to be incredibly powerful. There have been many designers that mastered their craft. There have been plenty of technological innovations such as satellite radio, MP3 devices and Bluetooth. As an automotive company, we weren’t the first at any of these. But when it comes to putting all of this into a compact car, we are pioneers. The Forte. The first of its kind.”

In an effort to spread the word about LOST and the new Kia Forte, we’re partnering up to offer people who become a fan of the new Kia Forte on Facebook an opportunity to win a $25 iTunes gift card.

Please take a minute to learn more about the new Kia Forte on Facebook and leave a comment here on Ducky Does TV once you’ve “fanned” the page to be eligible to win the #25 iTunes Gift Card!

If you’re not a fan of our SYTYCD podcasts, then you’re in luck! This week we’re back with a regular TV Talk Podcast with GMMR and Ducky. We decided to dedicate a lot of time to our other favorite summer obsession, TRUE BLOOD. We talk all things vamptastic and if you’re a fan of the show we’ve got questions we need answers to so pay attention and leave comments.

Next up is BIG BROTHER 11. After that, we talk a little bit about the amazing return of TORCHWOOD: CHILDREN OF EARTH and its shocking 5 night mini-series.

Last, we talk about all things COMIC-CON 2009. What panels we missed (CHUCK, BIG BANG THEORY, GLEE, LOST, DOLLHOUSE, SUPERNATURAL and more), which shows had the most impressive online presence and all the news/gossip that came out of the con.

After last year’s Comic-Con I was worn out, my flight to and from San Diego had been canceled and rescheduled, I was ready to slap anyone wearing a costume and I may or may not have made a commitment then and there to not attend this year. My partner in crime, Kath from Give Me My Remote felt the same way and so we went about our year not planning on returning to San Diego for 2009.

When I was laid off, the decision seemed like perfection. I would have less money for one and if I got a new job, chances were it would be closer to the Con and I wouldn’t have the time off available to me that I’ve had in the past. Obvious, right?

Flash-forward to the middle of July and I start regretting my decision. I’m still unemployed and with the Press Pass and a probable free flight I started wondering why the frak I didn’t go. The answer was simple though, I was competing in my first triathlon and that was Comic-Con weekend. It was a distraction for the actual weekend but not the time leading up to and during the start of SDCC09.

Once all of my blogger friends, PR folks from the networks and shows started plotting their schedules, the interviews, the press rooms, etc. I really started to have mini-panic attacks that I would be missing out on all the fun and yes, even the chaos.

Here are the things I’ll have missed most about not having been at Comic-Con this past weekend:

  • My friends/comrades in all things Con (esp. Rae, Amrie, Holly, Winson, Susan, Jen G. and my girl Moira)
  • Being in a hotel for 5 nights but only for a couple hours of sleeping and lots of laughing our asses off.
  • Our annual trip to Bucca!
  • The Press Rooms (its always fun to have some alone time with my fave TV stars/writers/creators)
  • People watching, esp. seeing all the people in costumes!
  • Making fun of people!
  • Eating only one not-so-square meal a day
  • Jockeying for positions (though I don’t miss that at the same time)
  • Walking the floor or rather hanging out atop the floor in the WB lounge.
  • The GLEE panel and my chance to rape Cory Monteith’s face!
  • Seeing David Tennant at the Doctor Who panel. The one year I don’t go his ass shows up…
  • The Torchwood panel
  • The True Blood panel (after last years snore fest, I hear this year was much better)
  • The Supernatural panel and meeting Mischa Collins (I will always regret that one)
  • The Big Bang Theory gang (last year they were so fun both in press and panel)
  • Zachary Quinto (in any shape/form)
  • The Nightmare on Elm Street panel
  • The Prisoner redux panel
  • Jeffster performance and the Chuck panel (though I bet GMMR is more upset than I – seeing how she got a shout out and all)
  • Cheese Sticks
  • The New Moon panel (yes, I said it)
  • Waiting in that ridonk Starbucks line
  • The Middleman panel (and the hotness that is Matt Kesslar)
  • The Caprica panel
  • The final Lost panel
  • Obviously the list could go on for days but off the top of my head these are the things that annoyed me while I was at home all weekend. There are more online friends and PR people that I didn’t give a shout out to but I would have loved to hang with all of you as well and maybe next year we’ll be back in full swing! SDCC2010 or Bust!

    *sigh*

Matthew Fox and Jimmy Kimmel Staring Contest - Shirtless and Showering (Video)

Matthew Fox (LOST) was on Jimmy Kimmel last night and sweet lord did it produce one of the funniest Kimmel videos ever! Not only do Fox and Kimmel have a staring contest, they sing “In Your Eyes” to each other and even shower naked together!

Um, can we talk about Matthew Fox’s hotness in the shower? *drools*

Thanks to Towleroad for the tipoff and screencap

LOST Season 5 Finale - Jacob

If you haven’t yet watched the LOST Season 5 finale “The Incident” don’t go reading past this line because this bitch is about to go off…

    Really Damon and Carlton?

    Really?

    Juliet?

You needed to take the only character I actually want to get off the island and drop her down the hatch drill hole after a gut wrenching goodbye? Really?

Then, for kicks… you have my girl wake up all bloody at the bottom of the hatch, realize she’s not dead (the horror) and then have her go out with a blast by detonating that bunk ass H-bomb Sayid rigged up? Really? Come on you sons-a-bitches!

Juliet Burke is the one character I want to see redeemed more than any other on LOST. I need Juliet to get off the island. I need Juliet to get back to Florida to see her sister Rachel. I need for Juliet to realize her fertility research and her life’s work helped give Rachel a child and that being conned into that island didn’t end everything for her.

To have Juliet go out as the possible savior of the island and our 815 survivors is great and all but gods dammit, she deserves to see that she did good by her sister and that she didn’t just abandon Rachel for nothing.

“Live Together, Die Alone” – I call bullshit…

We don’t know what detonating the Jughead will do. With any luck it will put the timeline back to 2004 or 2007 or wherever the frak they were before turning the donkey wheel and everyone will be in their original state and Juliet will still be alive. Like we’ve discovered over the years, not everyone dies on the island so maybe there’s a chance my girl makes it to the final season. Am I delusional? Does everyone not love Juliet/Elizabeth Mitchell as much as I do? Fuck…

I know I should talk about the rest of the episode but what do you say about such hugeness? I’m gonna skip over a lot here because there will be a 2 Idiots Talk LOST Podcast coming in a few days and most of it will be covered there but I want to talk about Jacob for a second.

Jacob… I think it was a little too convenient that he had visited all of our island friends at some point in their lives. I usually love that there is integration between pre-island and island life but this one seemed a little forced. Obviously, there is more to be learned but at first glance, that was my one and only issue with Jacob.

I love that we actually saw Jacob. I love that it was Rita’s ex-husband (from DEXTER). I love that he was not only a smug mother-frakker but one that wouldn’t apologize for being the almighty. I love that even when he knew he would die, he stuck it to Ben one last time. What was with the animosity and anger there? Ben had always blindly pledged his allegiance to Jacob but it was never enough… When he looked Ben in the eyes and said “what ABOUT you?” I thought, that’s way harsh, Tai Jacob… and I loved it.

So wait… Locke is actually dead and the Locke we’ve been following all season is the Charles Whidmore to Jacob’s Ben Linus? My simple mind can’t comprehend that yet. I need more in the final season to really even begin to talk about this development. It makes my brain hurt the same way it does when I think about why we can’t just print more money…

All in all, I liked it but didn’t love this finale. As far as LOST season ender’s go, this is one of their weakest. I think my fear for Juliet tainted the episode for me from the beginning. I think all the tomb, sand and torch action has my mind in a haze because I don’t know that I’m loving that stuff and I fear they’ll veer too far from the heart of the show which are the original 815 survivors.

We’re heading into the final season and there’s now a whole new Jacob/non-Locke storyline to pursue not to mention redemption, absolution and fulfillment for the people we’ve been following for the last 6 seasons. That’s Salada tea plot to deal with folks! I’m nervous…

Oh wait, can we talk about Sun and Jin for a second? What’s with not reuniting these two? A whole season apart? What’s that all about? Rough…

Sayid? Is the dude a goner? Don’t forget he’s just lying there bleeding to death whilst the rest of them go all Commando on the Dharma 77.

Rose and Bernard escaping flaming arrows and the rest of the 815 survivors? Hilarious. I love that they’ve been on the run from the group for 3 years in hopes of spending their Golden Years in peace and quiet with Vincent as their companion. Brilliant!!!

I’m sure I’ll watch “The Incident” a few more times and my mind grapes will come up with more things to talk about so stay tuned.

What did you cats think about the finale? Do share…

  • I know LOST was only gone for a week but damn it feels like forever since we’ve seen Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley and the rest of the gang. Obviously this sad feeling of abandonment means I’m way too obsessed with this show. Oh well…

Why does LOST have to have the most sensory overload plane crash sequences? Seriously, it’s enough to make me never want to fly again. Back in ‘93 when ALIVE was released, I thought I’d never witness another plane crash more terrifying but I was wrong. Oceanic 815 and Ajira 316 blow that cannibalistic mountain hike away. Frank Lapudis, glad to have you back in my life old buddy! Now let’s get everyone back in the same place and same time shall we?

  • I love how Sawyer started right back in with the nicknames! He called Hurley “Kong”, Jack the usual “Doc” but with Kate he simply called her by name… and she referred to him as “James” – very telling… of what, I have no idea.
  • Hands down the best line of the night belongs to Hurley after hearing that they’re stuck in 1977. “Ooooh, what?”
  • Watching Sawyer tell Juliet that they’re back was heartbreaking. I truly thought she was smarter than that but maybe she really did fall for Sawyer and never think the rest of the gang would ever return. Interesting.
  • Watching the survivors of Flight 316 get all testy with Frank shows that this group isn’t as willing as our old 815′ers to sit back and see what happens. That Caesar is going to be t-r-o-u-b-l-e!
  • So Ben told Sun that he went into the Jungle to find “their” island. Does that mean that the plane landed on the other Other’s island while Kate, Jack and Sawyer ended up on the main island? That’s kinda cool.
  • OMG! Horace and Amy are naming their baby son Ethan!!! Juliet does a double take almost. She’s softened in the 3 years with the Dharma Initiative because he bluffing skills need a little work. Get it together girl! Ethan… frak that’s awesome!
  • I love the new dynamic between Jack and Sawyer, the shift of trust and power is very very interesting. This show just gets deeper and deeper and these characters get more twisted and twisted.
  • Sun with and ore on the beach FTW!
  • Yes, Dr. Candle aka Peter Chang is Jack’s check-in guy. Jack’s got a little smirk and smile at seeing him in the flesh. I’m surprised that when Candle said a woman gave birth on the island, that he didn’t even bat an eyelash.
  • Anyone else have a feeling that Jimmy Barrett is going to be trouble for Kate, Jack and Hurley. He was quick to call Kate out for not being on the sub manifest. Juliet to the rescue! Later though when Jack asks for James LaFluer, Phil tells Jack that Jim hates being called that. Ugh. Kill Phil now!
  • Watching Jin and Sawyer pretend to not know Sayid is humorous and thank heavens these people are used to lying all the time.
  • Okay, what the hell? Sun and Lapidus make it to the island, find the processing center which is now all rundown and abandoned AND are greeted by Christian Shephard who claims to know where Jin is. Christian shows Sun a group photo of new recruits from 1977 and tells her that she has a long journey ahead of her. Wha-wha-what? *Update: did you see the door open, the wind blow and the smoke come through then behind Sun is a blurry blonde head? Could that have been Claire?
  • Can I just tell you how amazing it is that they’ve woven so much history and so much pain into these characters that a simple hug at the door, a look aside or a wave can have to much meaning? Ack, it’s killing me!!!
  • Oh and hey Sayid… I don’t know if I’d eat that sandwhich from little Ben Linus. *ding ding ding – score!*
  • I pray that people didn’t give up on LOST this season. I know its been all over the place with space and time but look how masterfully they’ve pulled it off! Patience is the key this season and it’s paying off in ways I could never have expected. Hot damn is LOST the best show on television.

I don’t know what it is about the character of Juliet Burke on LOST but there is something between the two of us, some kind of kindred spirit connection that makes me weak and I don’t care who knows.

My obsession with Juliet stems all the way back to her first appearance in Season 3’s premiere “A Tale of Two Cities”. There’s something so tragic and heartbreaking about her storyline that seriously turns me into a little bitch when I think too hard about it.

During last night’s cramazing 1974-77 set episode “LaFluer” there was a moment where tears started just streaming down my face and it wasn’t because the scene was so moving I couldn’t contain myself, it was because of the character arc that Lost has created for Juliet that put me over the edge.

Juliet walks out of the hut after delivering her very first successful birth on the island and she’s completely overwhelmed by the miracle of it all and while it was an amazing scene on Elizabeth Mitchell’s part, I got choked up most thinking about her sister and all the death Juliet’s seen over the years in trying to make this thing called life possible.

    I was a hot mess.

I left that moment and started thinking about how she genuinely is one of the most tragic characters on the show. She wasn’t born on the island. She wasn’t part of the Dharma Initiative. She wasn’t on Flight 815 or 316. She was a Doctor that took a job in Portland thinking she was going to help women with infertility problems in hopes of some day being able to use her experimental injections to help her cancer stricken, chemotherapy barren sister have a child and ended up in a fucking submarine to hell.

Ben Linus manipulated her ability to leave Miami and the hold her ex-husband Edmund had on her by giving her her wish of having the always amazing Željko Ivanek hit by a bus – thanks Richard Alpert for that one. Ben then essentially kept her captive in The Others camp for 3 years before 815 crashed on the island and since that day, her only mission has been getting off the island to see the kid her barren sister produced thanks in part to her own research.

Her connection to the survivors of 815 has always been an interesting one because she’s had to walk the fine line of being known as an Other and being an ally to those in the same position as her, wanting to leave the island at any cost. She connected with Jack because of their backgrounds as Doctors and because his drive was to the leave the island as soon as possible. Juliet is smart enough to align herself with whomever she thinks will help her get to her goal, she probably learned that ruthless drive from Ben over the years.

The reason I have a hard on for her ruthlessness is because unlike Ben, she has the ability to care about the people involved in their schemes. That’s why she was able to integrate herself into the survivors and why after umpteen failed attempts at delivering a baby on the island or even getting a woman past their second trimester, she had such an emotional and trust-building moment with Sun back in the day.

The newest developments this season have me worried for my dear Juliet. While she still has the “all about business” attitude and the ability to remain amazingly calm in a crisis (remember how she was barely phased by Daniel’s explanation of why and how the island moved), this jump three years (from 1974 to 1977) bothers me because for the first time in Juliet Burke’s storyline, she abandoned her goal of getting off the island at any cost to wait it out with Sawyer, Miles and Jin.

I’m dying to know why she didn’t take that submarine after her promise of giving James two weeks to search for Locke. I’m dying to know what changes on the island (not to mention when) and why that change makes birth impossible. I’m dying to know what could have been so major that she wouldn’t leave. Could it have something to do with Daniel Faraday’s surprising absence in ‘77 or is it because something so big happened in those two weeks that it forever bonded her with Sawyer? They’re killing me!

Sawyer’s speech to Horace about how three years is more than enough to get over someone (aka Freckles) was amazing because he and Juliet truly seemed happy in that there 1977 but the look on his face when Kate stepped out of that VW bus broke my heart. I wondered if in that moment he could even remember Juliet’s face and that hurt.

While a part of me wants to believe that Juliet and Sawyer could sail off into the sunset on that yellow submarine, I also think this is exactly what she needs to slap her back on task. Whether she’s been playing house with 50% emotion and 50% motive is yet to be discovered, but one thing is clear. Juliet has once again been set up for heartache and that slays me.

I can’t wait to see how the return of Jack and Kate shakes things up for Juliet and Sawyer but I’m mostly anticipating the return of ruthless Juliet hellbent on getting off the island ASAP.

Ducky’s back from vacation which means it’s time for another TV Talk Podcast! We have almost 3 weeks to cover so make yourself some tea, get a snack and settle in for the soothing cackles and rants we’re about to sling your way.

We start as we always do, Monday nights. BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER continues to be the best damn double bill on television. CHUCK goes to the suburbs, tests his best friendship with Morgan and breaks up with Sarah, say what? HEROES hits rock bottom and Matt Dallas shows his rock hard… abs!

THE BIGGEST LOSER 7 pisses Ducky off and shockingly Kath watched! PRIVILEGED aired what may have been it’s series finale and is to be continued but when considering The CW renewed a bunch of shows already. AMERICAN IDOL continues to rock on while randomly REAPER returns.

TOP CHEF has a shocking finale while Kath gets a shocker as she realizes she missed DAMAGES last week mid-recap.

SURVIVOR’s getting ugly, Sweeps are in March, 30 ROCK gets political, AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW kills it and I might kill Kath for something she says about BURN NOTICE.

Over on Friday’s there’s FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, DOLLHOUSE and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA to discuss before breezing through Sunday’s THE AMAZING RACE because really you just want to listen to…

Chuck scored with a 3-D Superbowl episode, Gossip Girl sends Blair over the deep end, Heroes returns with some promise and the double punch of Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother once again make us laugh our asses off. Privileged said good bye to our boy Charlie, The Biggest Loser sent one pissed off contestant home and Fringe got prickly. Idol finally hits Hollywood week and America’s Best Dance Crew got all “It’s Britney Bitch” on us.

The Office got super-sized for the Super Bowl but did it score a home run, er… ABC falsely promotes a Grey’s/Private Practice crossover and Supernatural went back to the future. Battlestar Galactica got frakkin crazy while Friday Night Lights taught us how the other half lives. SNL scores a really hot but really random host and of course, Two Idiots Talk Lost!
