It makes me so sad that our time with David Tennant as The Doctor is almost up but it makes me super frakkin’ excited to see this new teaser trailer for DOCTOR WHO “The Waters of Mars” airing sometime later this year.
You state your name and rank sista! I cannot wait…
Did anyone see the Doctor Who “Planet of the Dead” Easter Special with Michelle Ryan this past week? How was it? Do I need to see it NOW?
Here’s a clip from tonight’s BIONIC WOMAN episode entitled “Trust Issues.”
Jaime and Antonio (Isaiah Washington) set out to foil an assassination plot, but Jaime has doubts about her partner’s intentions after overhearing a conversation he has with the would-be killer. Elsewhere, Jaime invites Tom to her home to meet Becca.
Well, BIONIC WOMAN is turning into quite the buzzed about show. Good or bad, word of mouth is spreading and Jaime Sommers is sure to get eyes this fall. From Mae Whitman’s exit, the recasts, revamps, and hiring of Isaiah Washington, this show’s busy!
Now, TVGuide is reporting that there’s another shake up in the midst.
The Ausiello Report has learned that Bionic Woman executive producer Glen Morgan (of X-Files fame) has left the buzzed-about fall series. (Can you say “creative differences”? Good, because we’re not supposed to speculate.)
Says NBC: “Glen Morgan has helped create a great template for Bionic Woman but has decided to pursue other endeavors now. We wish him the best. The creative team of David Eick and Jason Smilovic continue as executive producers on Bionic Woman, and we are excited about the new series’ debut September 26.”
Sometimes the drama behind the scenes is better than that in front of the camera. Here’s to hoping this doesn’t mean BIONIC WOMAN is on a downward spiral.
BIONIC WOMAN Premieres: Wednesday, September 26th at 9pm Network: NBC (*reruns on Sci-Fi, date and time TBD)
Cast: Michelle Ryan as Jaime Sommers, Miguel Ferrer as Jonas Bledsoe, Molly Price as Ruth Treadwell, Chris Bowers as Will Anthros, Will Yun Lee as Jae Kim, Lucy Kate Hale as Becca Sommers; Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Corvus, and Mark Sheppard as Dr. Anthony Anthros.

Premise:
Struggling as a bartender and surrogate mom to her teenage sister, Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan, “EastEnders”) didn’t think life could get much harder. But when a devastating car accident leaves her at death’s door, Jaime’s only hope for survival is a cutting-edge, top-secret technology that comes at a hefty price.
With a whole new existence and a debt to re-pay, Jaime must figure out how to use her extraordinary abilities for good — while weighing the personal sacrifices she will have to make. Ultimately, it’s Jaime’s journey of self-discovery and inner strength that will help her embrace her new life as the Bionic Woman in this new action-drama series.
Also starring are: Miguel Ferrer (“Crossing Jordan”) as Jonas Bledsoe, the man who employs Jaime’s boyfriend; Molly Price (“Third Watch”) as Ruth Treadwell, Jonas’ second-in-command; Chris Bowers (“Rescue Me”) as Will Anthros, Jaime’s boyfriend, who performs the operation; Will Yun Lee (“Witchblade”) as Jae Kim, the specialized operations leader; Lucy Kate Hale (“How I Met Your Mother”), as Jaime’s younger sister, Becca; and Mark Sheppard (“Battlestar Galatica”) as Dr. Anthony Anthros, Will’s father and the man who originated the bionic technology.
Ducky’s Thoughts: I was lucky enough to have seen the original pilot with Anne from Arrested Development as Jaime’s deaf sister so I can’t really compare it to this new pilot unless I get that before the season starts. I really liked the premise and while I loved the campy show from my youth, this is a good retooling ala Battlestar.
Michelle Ryan will be a huge star, no doubt about it. I love that Katee Sackhoff is such an integral part of the plot yet doesn’t have to be in every episode. She can come in and be a big crazy bitch, and she is – trust me, then disappear for a while.
I’m hoping that the pacing and some of the missed emotional beats will be worked on with the new pilot. Until then, fingers crossed.
Here is a great article from Boston.com and Associated Press about the British Invasion on the American Fall TV Schedule. All of my favorite new shows are listed including CHUCK, PUSHING DAISIES, MOONLIGHT, BIONIC WOMAN, and NEW AMSTERDAM. It’s a fun quick read and pretty interesting when you think about it.
A bevy of British actors, most sporting American accents, are being yanked across the pond and into US prime time this fall.
“Everybody’s going!” exclaims Sophia Myles as she waited, bags packed, for her work visa to arrive. The British beauty’s movie credits include Isolde in the historical romance “Tristan & Isolde” and the upcoming sci-fi action film “Outlander.” But now she’s reporter Beth Turner in “Moonlight,” the vampire-themed crime series, premiering on CBS Sept. 28.
Kevin McKidd wasn’t “going to do it” when first offered the role of time-traveling American journalist Dan Vassar in “Journeyman,” debuting on NBC Sept. 24. But Liam Neeson, with whom he worked on the movie “Kingdom of Heaven,” took him aside and suggested he “rethink.” He did, and now the Scottish actor, familiar to HBO viewers as Lucius Vorenus in the historical drama “Rome,” has moved his family to Los Angeles. “Luckily, I have a brave wife who knows the game. It’s a gamble, but then this life always is,” he says.
What do the three panels listed above in the subject header have in common? They’re the three panels I got shut out of last Saturday while at Comic-Con. Some of you already know the story but many of you probably do not, so here goes.
Pushing Daisies was having their early bird special screening at 9:15am and you know I love me some Pushing Daisies so I couldn’t miss that. I knew going into it that I would probably have to sacrifice Bionic Woman but it was something I could live with. Daisies was over by 10:30 so that gave me 2 hours to get in line and get into Ballroom 20 for Heroes. Ballroom 20 being our home for the next 7 hours.
We left Pushing Daisies in a haze (the joys of Bryan Fuller and Lee Pace can do that to a guy) and stumbled over to Ballroom 20 to get in line. I kid you not when I tell you that B20 was already packed to capacity and the line to get in wrapped a good 4000+.
Shocked, Rae, Kath, Thomas and I filed into line and sulked. The line was so long and we just knew that everyone in the hall already was either there for Heroes or Joss Whedon so the likelihood of a mass exodus was slim. After about 20 minutes, the line didn’t move and we had to make a drastic decision. Stay in line at numbers 4000, 4001, 4002, and 4003 where we may or may not get in sometime before the place closes or head downstairs to see the Pushing Daisies folks in line and chat with our Warner Bros. folks and then see the other panels of interest that we would have missed by setting up shop in B20 all day.
I leave in a mere 5 hours for sunny San Diego where I’ll probably see no sun or feel no summer loving as I’ll be spending all of my time inside the San Diego Convention Center with 200,000 of my closest geek friends.
COMIC-CON 2007 begins tomorrow and I’m there all weekend with GMMR and some other TV Bloggers for the biggest group of television panels a fan could dream of.

While I’m gone, please head on over to my new site… DUCKY DOES TV! I’m in the midst of moving all posts there so that will be Ducky’s new home very very very soon! Let me know what you think. I love the new layout and I’m still working on all the content so bear with me.
May the force be with you or something dorky like that!
**Oh and anyone wondering what TV shows won out for the trip. I’m finishing Season 1 of Kyle XY and I downloaded the first 7 episodes of Psych.
According to TVGuide, NBC’s BIONIC WOMAN has finally recast the deaf (still?) sister of Jaime Sommers.
Robin Sparkles dirty little sister from Canada on How I Met Your Mother is the new sibling on the NBC sure to be mega-hit. LUCY HALE will take over the role from Arrested Developments Ann, Egg, Mae Whitman.
This casting news doesn’t make me shiver like yesterday’s casting of Isaiah Washington.
**UPDATE – According to Ausiello’s TCA Blog, the sister will no longer be deaf and she’s suddenly a big computer nerd as well.
TV Podcast 11: Ducky and GMMR take a dip in the technical difficulties pool and come out swinging.
BIG BROTHER 8 has arrived and we’re obsessed. We talk spoilers, live feeds, and our favorites. What do we think about BURN NOTICE? PSYCH’s back on USA. KATHY GRIFFIN does gay porn and RESCUE ME forgets to rescue one of their own.
Do we need two karaoke shows? We dissect SPELLING BEE and DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE continues to dominate the summer and we talk about our new favorites.
A little TRANSFORMERS talk? Sure, just a bit. COMIC-CON? Yes, we’re now Comic-Con geeks and we preview our trip at the end of July. PUSHING DAISIES, MOONLIGHT, BIONIC WOMAN and other Fall Shows.
The good folks over at IGN (shout out to fellow Supernatural Set Visitor) have an interview up with the new Bionic Woman Michelle Ryan. As you know, this is one of my most anticipated shows for the fall season and the pilot delivers in spades so right now I’m on the hunt for any and all things Bionic Woman.
Wanna know if the newest British Import Michelle Ryan watched the very American original? Want confirmation that of course Michelle Ryan was on Eastenders? Hell I’ve been on Eastenders… okay I’ve not been but seriously every Brit has. Does she like sticky dots all over her body (grosso’s get your heads out of the gutters)? And finally does she have a girl crush on Battlestar’s Katee Sackhoff?
At this week’s Sci-Fi Channel Battlestar Galactica “All Access Event”, the big draw seems to be the smokin’ hot Katee Sackhoff. Bionic Woman is one of the most talked about shows for the Fall over on NBC and with Battlestar announcing their last season NBC/Universal is carting Sackhoff out like the second coming of Girl Christ that kicks a lot of ass and can fly a raptor if needed?
When asked about being on two shows at once she exclaimed “Holy shit I’m gonna be tired.” She reveals that Battlestar Galactica and Bionic Woman are shooting on the same lot and that there’s talk of getting her her very own suped up golf cart to travel around from stage to stage on.
Yes she will be filming both at the same time and she would only confirm that she’s on more than one episode but less than fifteen episodes because they were only picked up for thirteen.
While I can’t write a full review of NBC’s new Fall show Bionic Woman, I can tell you that it rocks incredibly hard and kicks some major frakkin’ ass!
Bionic Woman lives up to every expectation I had for it. Coming from David Eick, one of the geniuses behind Battlestar Galactica, I knew it would more than likely be a slam dunk and seriously… it is!
Yes Katee Sackhoff is in the pilot and yes she is amazingly hardcore and badass but I’m happy to report that she is not the only BSG’er in the mix. Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) and Baltar’s Lawyer, Romo Lampkin (actor Mark Sheppard) are also involved. We can only hope that with the end of BSG in sight, more and more of our favorites from Galactica will jump over to Bionic Woman. Know who else is in the show? Ann (Who?) Egg, er Ann from Arrested Development.
I will quickly say this, mark my words… Michelle Ryan will be a huge star after this show blasts off. She’s incredibly beautiful, soft, sweet, and swift with the ass whoopin’. Geeks everywhere will be wetting themselves for her. You go girl!
