We survived another snow storm and another podcast! This week, the TV Talk Podcast gives you our thoughts on the winners and losers at this years GOLDEN GLOBES AWARDS.
DAMAGES Season 3 is hot on our heels and we briefly discuss the first two hours. Patty, Ellen and Tom are back for a killer season of manipluation and a sharp game of cat and mouse.
The most satisfying news from the winter TCA press tour revolves around the timeline for the next two seasons of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.
PROJECT RUNWAY returns to New York City and the reunion feels so good! Heidi, Michael, Nina and Tim Gunn try to make it work with a new back of 16 designers. We’re already in love!
AMERICAN IDOL kicked off another season and Ducky may or may not be back on the bandwagon.
It wouldn’t be a TV podcast unless we talked about the Leno/Conan Late Night Debacle. What a shit-show…
Oh and did I mention we talk about AVATAR? Why not!
We end this week’s podcast with some fun and games! Get ready for a few rounds of “Would You Rather”: TV Edition.
The 67th Golden Globes Awards air tonight on NBC! I’m not a person that puts a lot of stock in awards shows but I do love me an awards show gathering. It’s chips and dip time y’all! Oh and the fact that Ricky Gervais is hosting makes this must watch television.
As I sit here this morning looking at the list of Golden Globes nominees, I’m realizing I don’t have much of an opinion when it comes to the film categories. Apparently I spend too much time watching films that grace the festival circuit and not the multiplex.
Does that mean I don’t have an opinion? Hardly, I always have an opinion!
Here’s how I’d like to see the Golden Globes shakedown when they air tonight (my picks are in bold). I’m not saying this is what I think will win, but in my heart what I wish would take home the golden sparkly thing. Let’s start with TV!
Best Television Series: Drama
“Mad Men”
“True Blood” “Dexter”
“Big Love”
“House” I really wanted to say TRUE BLOOD but some of that Maryann shit got cuckoo bananas and derailed the show at times. MAD MEN is always fucking crazy good but this season took some time to completely hook me. DEXTER on the other hand had possibly its best season to date. So gooooooooood!
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series: Drama
Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”
Hugh Laurie, “House” Michael C. Hall, “Dexter”
Simon Baker, “The Mentalist”
Bill Paxton, “Big Love” No contest in my opinion… Michael C. Hall should win. He played the charming, dutiful husband and father with LEAVE IT TO BEAVER grace but he also played a manic, hell bent, jealous and at times loose canon Dex this season. Scary good.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series: Drama
Anna Paquin, “True Blood”
Kyra Sedgwick, “The Closer” Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife”
Glenn Close, “Damages”
January Jones, “Mad Men” While I thought January Jones did a killer job this season, she’s no Glenn Close. But I didn’t pick Glenn Close because I’m ready for a newbie this year. I’m going with Julianna Margulies because her controlled yet crazy empowering portrayal of Alicia Florrick is mesmerizing to watch.
Best Television Series: Comedy
“30 Rock”
“The Office”
“Glee” “Modern Family”
“Entourage” Surely most of you thought I’d pick GLEE for this category. While I think it has a better chance at winning (I mean its hands down the most original series of the year), I’m still going with MODERN FAMILY! Family continues to be a smart, witty, laugh out loud dark family comedy that hits your heart from week to week. Best Series in any category… Period!
The rest of my Golden Globes TV and Film predictions are after the jump… (more…)
Neil Patrick Harris should join the ranks of Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, John Waters and Ellen Degeneres as the only people that should be allowed to host any awards show. Ever.
If you missed the TONY AWARDS last night (or are a straight man), here’s your chance to catch Neil Patrick Harris’ incredible closing number that recaps that nights big winners (and losers).
Doogie Howser, M.D.Barney StinsonDr. HorribleNeil Patrick Harris hosted Saturday Night Live last night and while I don’t usually find that show funny, I have to say that with NPH at the helm, parts of it were legen-wait for it-dary!
Here’s the best skit SNL will do in the next 10 years… SAVE BROADWAY:
Penelope is always a treat, especially when Liza with a Z shows up:
How I Met Your Mother monologue:
Fran & Freba… it’s like the center of a donut hole:
DRAMATIC TV SERIES
“Dexter”
“House M.D.”
“In Treatment” “Mad Men”
“True Blood”
BEST ACTOR, TV DRAMA
Gabriel Byrne, “In Treatment”
Michael C. Hall, “Dexter” Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”
Hugh Laurie, “House M.D.”
Jonathan Rhys Meyers, “The Tudors”
BEST ACTRESS, TV DRAMA
Sally Field, “Brothers & Sisters”
Mariska Hargitay, “Law & Order: SVU”
January Jones, “Mad Men”
Anna Paquin, “True Blood” Kyra Sedgwick, “The Closer”
TV SERIES, MUSICAL OR COMEDY
“Californication”
“Entourage”

“Weeds” (more…)
We hope everyone got some great TV goodies over the holidays because we sure did. Kath and I talk about what TV Boyfriends were under their trees, what TV presents they got and even fill you in on some of the things keeping them apart for the last 6 weeks.
There’s news to be had, Christmas CHUCK to rehash, the demise of PUSHING DAISIES to cry about, PRIVILEGED to complain about, GOSSIP GIRL to gossip about and did I mention that we’ve both seen the first two hours of LOST Season 5! Sorry, had to throw that in just be to bitchy…
You asked what we thought of all the new and returning shows that will fill our winter and spring with good cheer and discontent and we’ve answered.
We’ve got screeners galore to chit-chat about… DAMAGES, THE CLOSER, UNITED STATES OF TARA, TRUST ME, 24 and more. We even touch on some shows that don’t have air dates like CUPID and BETTER OFF TED.
On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to me, Barney being a complete douche! While chestnuts roast on an open fire, it’s possible Ted Mosby will knock Barney Stinson’s chestnuts into next year for these naughty holiday jingles…
While HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER has been uneven this year, two things always remains the same… Barney is one of the best characters on television and I never EVER get sick of watching Neil Patrick Harris – the man is a god.
Yesterday, Rae and I were able to get into the DR. HORRIBLE Panel with seats that were not too shabby but with little time to spare. I was able to record the entire panel and have it here for all of you to listen to. The panel was hilarious, Nathan Fillion stole the show which is something with Neil Patrick Harris is in the room. The entire cast was there including the glorious and luminous Felicia Day and Simon Helberg (Moist) not to mention writers Jed Whedon, Zach Whedon and Marissa Tancharoen.
As you’ll hear, there are lots of Hammer/Penis jokes so get ready to laugh your ass off. I will warn you that there is some neighbor cell phone interference every 8 minutes or so but it’s really not too bad.
If you’re already a loyal TV Talk Podcast subscriber, this panel will automatically download to your iTunes (or may be sitting there waiting for you now)!

I couldn’t love Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris any more than I already do, or maybe I could. I’m going to hump both of them next week at Comic-Con and we’ll have musical blogging babies!
We’ve all been waiting and finally the day is here. Some thought that July was about the 3G iPhone and Comic-Con but really it’s about the premiere of Joss Whedon’s soon to be masterpiece DR. HORRIBLE’S SING-ALONG BLOG!
You only have a limited amount of time to watch Dr. Horrible Part 1 so get on it and witness the genius that is Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day! NPH delivers and then some, the guy is a frakkin’ master! Nathan Fillion is looking beefcake hot in his tight nipple shirt and Felicia is a vision of pasty chalk white beauty! And the good news is that so far, no line is mostly filler!
Watch Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (Part 1) before it’s gone. Part 2 begins Thursday July 17th and the final act begins on Saturday July 19th. If you missed any portion, they will all be available on iTunes and the DVD should be out sometime this fall.
For those of you not going to COMIC-CON this year, consider yourselves lucky because if you knew the anxiety and rage the scheduling has caused me and my fellow TV Bloggers, you’d be fine just staying home. There are so many TV panels this year and so many things I want to do that either overlap each other or run too close to ever hope of getting in, so trying to decide what to see is like Sophie’s Choice up in this place.
Here are the panels I’m interested in attending and as you’ll see, it’s nearly impossible to attend half of the things I’m excited about.
*Item’s in BOLD are panels I’m currently planning on seeing but I promise you, it will change before leaving next week.

Do you see how agonizing it is to try and plan your days? Saturday is seriously OOC and I’m sure many decision will change in the spur of the moment. What you don’t see on here are the parties we’re RSVP’d for and the Press Rooms we’re hoping to do as well. Add press rooms for most shows on Saturday and you’d have to have 3 Buffy Bots to help you cover it all.
Regardless, I’ll be there with many blogger friends and we’ll be podcasting every day and recording as many panels as possible to post here on Ducky Does TV so stay tuned!
We threatened to never do another TV Talk Podcast if you didn’t flock to iTunes and leave us comments… well I’m happy to report that you love us as much as we love you! Thanks to your generosity, we are back and this week’s podcast is a lot of fun!
We revise our thoughts on Swingtown now that we’re both completely caught up (and loving it), we talk about my chat with Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and her stint on Burn Notice plus some scoop on her new Fox pilot Inseparable.
Next we tackle one of the most talked about Fall pilots, J.J. Abrams FRINGE! Kath and I will review the plot, the mystery and the hotness that is Josh Jackson but don’t worry we don’t spoil anything for you! We’re good like that!
Then it’s time for some listener emails because you guys are cramazing!
Who wants to talk Comic-Con? No? Tough because we run down the shows that will be in San Diego and vent our frustrations over the scheduling. If you’re going to be in town for Comic-Con and you’re a reader or listener, let us know… we’d love to see you!
Before wrapping up this week we have a little fun with our TV version of F, Marry, Kill! That’s right, we each pick one we’d boink, one we’d marry and one we’d go Dexter Morgan on. join in the fun and leave us some comments about who you’d F, Marry and Kill based on our choices. We’ll read some of them on the air in our next podcast.
TV Talk with GMMR and Ducky is back! After 7 weeks, we were finally able to see each other and dish all the dirt on our favorite shows.
Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, House, Gossip Girl, American Idol, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, Brothers & Sisters, So You Think You Can Dance, Ugly Betty, Greek and so much more.
We take some last minute listener questions on which finale’s we’re most looking forward to and also which hot summer movies our fave TV stars are popping up in. Not to mention Kath gets to wax The Office finale after one Canadian listener begs for finale information.
Also, be on the lookout for the return of TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST! We watch the show but we’re not experts, sue us.

I just took a few minutes to watch last night’s episode of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and I have to say it’s one of the shows finest. Ever since the reveal of Robin Sparkles last season, I’ve been patiently awaiting her cheesy acid washed return. Throw in James Van der Beek and “Don’t Forget The Robot” and I’m in heaven.
Here’s the video you’ve probably seen 1000x already and below are my favorite moments of the night.
Watch Robin Sparkles Video “Sandcastles In The Sand”
Ducky’s Fave Moments:
- Lily: “Louise Marsh? That’s a whore’s name if I ever heard one.”
- Barney’s Degrassi shout out…. holla!
- The Beek’s amazingly large 80s hair and his sickly thinning hair of today. Seriously, they never made a man look so bad before.
- The Winning Point System devised by the group. Robin so won.
- The Beek’s saving lives at the waterslides speech and demonstration.
- Barney bolting at finding out there’s another Robin Sparkles video out there.
- Revertigo
- Lily and Michelle = homegirls of hilarity
- Barney (while watching “Sandcastles In The Sand”): “You know if you reedit this – there’s a tampon commercial in here somewhere.”
