We said we’d be back with another TV Talk Podcast in a week but it took almost a week and a half, I think you survived just fine. GMMR was at the Upfront presentations so there’s plenty to talk about including her celebrity sightings, stalkings, and dancing partners. We’ll even talk about Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE and J.J. Abrams FRINGE starring GMMR’s mega crush Josh Jackson. So You Think You Can Dance might get a couple minutes or five along with her time with The Office and Tina Fey!
Back to your regularly scheduled podcast, we head right into GOSSIP GIRL, AMERICAN IDOL, THE OFFICE, GREY’S, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and more. Plus, it’s the return of TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST (*we talk about the finale being this week but listener Michael pointed out that it’s not until May 29th - phew!) where we rehash the first hour of the three hour Season 4 finale, once again proving that even idiots can enjoy Lost. And as a bonus feature, we have a special guest to help us talk about the Season 3 finale of The CW’s SUPERNATURAL.
Sit back and relax because this Podcast almost hits 90 minutes. You read that right, 90 minutes of babbling, giggling, bitching, and TV Talk!

As I’ve been hoping all season long, it appears that finally one of the guys on GOSSIP GIRL will be getting a little more F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! Figures all the gay gossip would happen after I leave Paley.
According to Ausiello:
I’m hearing from an extremely reliable source that a male character on Gossip Girl will be revealed to be of the gay persuasion when the show returns on April 21. Who? Can’t say. Won’t say. It’s too good a surprise. I will, however, offer five tantalizing clues.
• The revelation significantly impacts the lives of at least three people.
• The aftershocks will be felt on both sides of the East River.
• Some viewers will be surprised by the twist, others not so much.
• In the Gossip Girl novels, Dan was known to be a bit of a switch hitter — which isn’t so much a clue as it is a fact. A misleading fact? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
As my friend Amy will confirm, I’ve been waiting for Dan Humphrey to start swinging my gay way ever since the 2nd episode when I found out he’s bi in the books. It would be a disservice to the character and to my nighttime fantasies to not have this happen. Schwartzy, give a guy a break already and make a smokin’ hot character a homo already.
Sadly, general consensus is that little suicidal Eric Van der Woodsen is the closeted casanova. I can live with that but once again it does nothing for my hopes and dreams…

Well, the crazy week at Paley ended last night with my most anticipated event, the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Reunion.
Knowing that the event was going to be the biggest night of the week, Kath and I had to strategize a game plan in hopes of scoring the best seats possible. Luckily we didn’t have to camp out the night before as some folks did because we had the Premium Package seats which guarantees you the first 4 rows
(suckas). Honestly, I would have been fine with any of those but deep down I knew that the fan in me wanted as close to the front as possible.
We had an early lunch with our pal Holly then Kath drove me over to the Arclight to line up at 2pm. The event wasn’t until 7 but when I got there the Stand By (wishful fans) and General Admission lines were OOC! We went around to the front where the Premium folks line up and thankfully we were the 10th & 11th people in line.
The group up there was hysterical. They’d started to create a seating chart which each of us picked our seats on so that it was a nice/friendly/orderly way of getting into the front rows without it turning into a scene our of Pamplona. I called it the Tooth Chart because no matter how brilliant and drop dead funny it was to create a chart, the damn thing looked like the chart at your dentist where they point out your issues teeth. Whatever, I’m rambling. The whole thing was called Operation Streisand and it was so not as gay as it sounds. Think cock-blocking a Babs serenading Pushy McPusher that the night before had elbowed someone at the front of the line.
You may ask… where was Kath in all of this? Well, she was down the street at a Borders so that she could finish watching the end of the series (so sad, Project Buffy is over) before the damn reunion! Why Borders you ask? Well, she was afraid the people in line would lynch her for having not being a long-time die hard fan. Don’t be haters.

She came back around 4:30, we got our package passes at 5 and were told that at 5:30 we’re going in. Thank God the Paley Center and the Arclight came up with a plan of action for the night because up until this point (ie. every other night of Paley), it was one of the most poorly organized crowd control situations I’ve ever seen. For Buffy they had security up the wazoo and routinely checked in to tell us how entrance to the theatre would work in order to avoid a stampede. The Tooth Chart was adhered to and we all filed in 2×2 (not 5×5 b/c Eliza didn’t show - boooooo). And we’re in…

In an hour I’ll be heading to the airport and leaving Los Angeles. It was a crazy amazing week for this TV fan/blogger with Pushing Daisies (and after party, holla), Chuck, Friday Night Lights, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I’ve posted tons of pictures and podcasts from the week but sadly I don’t think that my Buffy recap will be up before my flight. I promise to get it written on the plane and posted late tonight so please check back. Kath and I were so dead tired that we didn’t have time to podcast but hopefully my way too long recap of the night will shed some light on the event.
Enjoy your weekend gang!

One of my favorite characters from the Buffyverse is sexually ambiguous Andrew. Tom Lenk’s portrayal of Andrew was nothing short of genius and it saddened me to see he wasn’t going to be on the panel tonight. To me, Andrew was a huge part of the final seasons and he really brought so much levity to the show that I thought he deserved his due.
During the post-panel signing I spotted Tom in the crowd just milling about. I went over and introduced myself and asked why he wasn’t on the panel. He said that he wasn’t a series regular and more importantly, he wasn’t asked. So he attended the panel as a fan and to see all of his writer friends from the show.
That pissed me off in a way. It’s not like he was one of the nameless/faceless Potentials. He was Andrew, part of the trio, a man not afraid to admit his love for Patrcick Swayze…
I don’t have anything else to say about it other than it annoyed the shit out of me because I thought Andrew was a perfect addition to the show and one that actually survived the finale so he deserved his due.
Regardless, I was overjoyed to get the chance to meet Tom Lenk and to let him know that he kicks frakkin’ ass!

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose… So started the FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Paley Panel last night and if ever a show had the heart, the quality and the drive to make it, it’s FNL. TV Guide’s Pooper Scooper Michael Ausiello moderated the night honoring those down to earth, frighteningly realistic, and always lovable Dillon Panters.
In attendance were Exec. Producer Jason Katims, Jeff Reiner (Co-Exec. Producer/Director), Ms. Tami Taylor herself the flawless Connie Britton, Scott Porter (#6 Jason Street), Minka Kelly (Lyla Garrity), Aimee Teegarden (Julie Taylor), Zach Gilford (Saracen), Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette).
That’s right folks, no Coach Taylor. Kyle Chandler was scheduled to be there but the film he’s shooting in Vancouver ran long and he couldn’t get in. And gals, Taylor Kitsch, Mr. Tim Riggins was MIA as well (probably off having a beer). You’ll all have to swoon later.
Kath and I did a podcast so I’m not going to write up much but I would like to comment on how incredibly sweet and honest this crew was. They seem beyond appreciative of the support the fans have given them, NBC’s determination, and the ability to be on a once in a lifetime show like Friday Night Lights. From the writing process to the shooting style all the way down to the casting of bit parts, FNL goes for authenticity and almost always succeeds.
Jason Katims was quick to own up to the fact that there was no pressure by the network to create the Landry/Tyra/Rapist Murder plot. It was all his own. While he understands folks frustrations (and is honored by the level of commitment and love for the show it brought out) he and the rest of the cast agree that the outcome was well worth it. Adrianne and Jesse Plemons worked their asses off this season and have given us fans one of the coolest TV Couples in recent history.
Everyone on stage was great. Connie Britton is beyond stunning and had cleavage for miles! Minka Kelly was gorgeous (as you can imagine). Adrianne Palicki looked classy and was very fun. She talked at one point about how when she read the script about the rapist, she loved Tyra so much that her first instinct was to kill the bastard (rapist). How’s the for honesty? Zach Gilford was quiet and seemed really nervous about the panel but was more open and entertaining in person during the signing. Aimee Teegarden is so young but adorable (that dress though?). Scott Porter’s shirt put Will Truman’s skin tight shirts to shame and fans of that hideous movie with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant will be pleased to know he performed some dance moves for the crowd.
Overall such a different panel than the nights before but no less interesting, insightful and fulfilling.

Last night The Paley Center presented the creative team and cast of NBC’s CHUCK as part of their Paley Fest 2008. Kath and I were front and center for the action and it was one hell of a panel. Yesterday was the first day back for the Chuck writing team so they didn’t have a ton of information to spill for the fans but really who cares because it’s all about watching these guys in action (both on the show and in person).
The WGA Strike imposed hiatus has left these kids nutty! Zac Levi (Chuck) and Josh Gomez (Morgan) are seriously in the biggest bromance this side of Make Me a Supermodel’s Ronnie and Prison Ben. They’re frik-n-frak and I’m happy they’ve found each other. God bless the women that dare come between these two. It could get ugly.
Production must be a bear to keep on schedule because its non-stop one-upping between not only Zac and Josh but the majority of the cast. They seem to have created an incredible family and it was fun getting to watch their reunion of sorts.
Production on Chuck Season 2 will begin toward the end of May and they are confirmed for Comic-Con this July where they hope to show a bunch of new clips instead of an entire episode.
Some Quick Highlights:
*UPDATED: Thanks to reader/pal Vlada for finding the Futon Critics transcipt of the Alan Sepinwall dare question to Josh Schwartz about the Weinerlicious outfit.
“To me it’s obvious, Chuck like Seth Cohen before him is the central character in a Jewish assimilation fable, grappling with his place in the secular Gentile post-Holocaust world. The CIA or NSA, I can never remember who works for whom, has obviously done deep psychological profiling on him, having read the works of Saul Bellow and Phillip Roth…” Head on over to the Futon Critic for the full question.
You know how on the show Capt. Awesome and Morgan are essentially each other’s nemesis? In real life I’m pretty sure smokin hot Ryan McPartlin (Captain Awesome) is the nemesis of Josh Gomez, in a very brotherly way though. They were slaying the crowd last night with their Odd Couplesque relationship. Ryan is very much the deadpan straight man and Josh is every bit the ham you see on television. Good times.
The Great Beard Debate was entertaining. Currently Levi looks like he’s about to take on the remake of Serpico and he’s determined to convince not only a protesting Josh Schwartz but the network to let him keep the beard for the first episode and then go all Jack Bauer on us and shave it off as he gets back into duty.
The show will jump in time to address the time its been off air. Hence, the Levi/24 Beard issue. I have to say, the audience was with the network, Schwartz and Awesome on this one… Lose the chin pubes.
Kayla Hart. What? Who’s Kayla you ask? Well she was Chuck’s next door neighbor who he was kinda-sorta into but not totally because he was still hung up on Jill from college and now he was into his handler Sarah. It all was too much and they made the decision way late in the pilot shooting/editing process to remove her from the equation. Smart move.
Lindelof asking Levi how he would approach a script called “Chuck Versus Chuck”. A Season 4 episode that is destined to be produced. Well, only if Schwartz dies before Season 3
Lindelof’s Inside The Actors Studio
- What is your favorite word? “Douche Bag” (Chris Fedak, Co-Creator)
- What is your least favorite word? “Intolerance (Adam Baldwin, ‘Casey’)
- What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? “Football” (Ryan McPartlin, ‘Devon aka Captain Awesome’)
- What sound or noise do you love? “The waves of the ocean” (Vic Sahay, ‘Lester’)
- What sounds do you hate? “Squishy, wet boots” (Julia Ling, ‘Anna’)
- What is your favorite curse word? “Fuck” (McG, Executive Producer)
*Click here to read them all over at GMMR
Chris Fedak’s story about how during the NBC pitch for Chuck he thought they for sure blew it because he pulled a classic Airplane moment… think drinking problem.
Josh Schwartz: “There is no love more pure than the love between one man and another.” Amen brother!
McG and Gomez comparing Adam Baldwin to Ted Nugent. Saying he basically a homo-hating, gun-toting, meat eating intolerant in real life. Fingers crossed they were just “teasing.” I mean, how many gays didn’t want Adam Baldwin’s Linderman as their Bodyguard growing up?
The Nerd Herd in general. Vic Sahay (Lester), Scott Krinsky (Jeff), Julia Ling (Anna) and Mark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike) were “fantastick” and I love that they all want in on the spy action.
I wanted more Yvonne Strahovski but then again, probably not as much as the straight men in the audience did. She’s fierce (but not a hot tranny mess… that I know of).
Oh and don’t forget Captain Awesome who was… well, Awesome.
PODCAST:
Kath and I did a quick 20 minute recap of the night. It was super late here in LA when we did it so forgive any crazy talk. Listen to our Chuck Paley Festival Podcast!

Hey everyone, it’s been 24 hours since the Pushing Daisies Paley Festival panel took place and we’ve been bat-shit crazy updating ThePieMaker.com with as much information as our brains could possibly muster given the little sleep we’ve had since coming to Los Angeles.
We’ve posted a ton of panel quotes and more including some answers to burning Pushing Daisies fan questions not to mention first hand written accounts from TPM readers in attendance.
Before Security went all douchy on me, I nabbed a 8 minute video of Bryan Fuller and Co. chatting, check it out!
Kath and I posted a bunch of our personal pictures from the panel and post-panel cast signing.
Plus, we’ve got a bunch of the official Paley Festival pictures from the panel as well.
Monday afternoon we’re heading over to Warner Bros. and meeting up with the Pushing Daisies writing staff and we’ll be sure to post more information tomorrow night (including a new Pushing Daisies Piecast Podcast).
Thanks for checking in all weekend and following our crazy weekend with Pushing Daisies.

Hey gang, it’s 1am here in Los Angeles and we just got back from the after party with the cast and writers so forgive me if I’m rambling. I quick wanted to write and say how incredible the Pushing Daisies panel was this evening.
The Paley Center put on one hell of a tribute and the crowd was energetic, enthusiastic and more than willing to oblige the cast in any story they wanted to recant. We’ll be posting a bunch over at our Pushing Daisies site ThePieMaker.com but I just wanted to tell everyone how magical the night was.
Great seeing some of our blogging pals there! Also, some readers who came up and said hello. It was great fun!
One of the best moments of my life took place this evening when legend Ellen Greene personally sought me out to thank me for ThePieMaker.com and to thank me for the “Suddenly Seymour” love I posted a while back. To have Ellen Greene wanting to meet me of all people is the most surreal and amazing thing ever. I just wish my partner Jon was there to meet her as well. We sing “Suddenly Seymour” basically every day of our lives. Simply divine.
We’ll post a bunch tomorrow over at ThePieMaker.com so head on over!

Kath and I are getting ready right now to head on out to the Pushing Daisies panel at Paley and while I can’t promise I’ll be Twittering, I wanted to at least let you know that you can follow updates of the night through the panel and our other site ThePieMaker.com!

gang, as you know I’m in LA for the week and I’ll be attending the Paley Festival with my girl GMMR and I’ll also be having a couple other things in the works (fingers crossed) that you’ll want to know about. Aside from Pushing Daisies, Chuck, Friday Night Lights and Buffy, I’ll be visiting my favorite people in Los Angeles whom I haven’t seen since I left here in 2000 and roaming around town. Visiting with my favorite Casting Agent Jenny and meeting up with someone that will hopefully be giving me (& you) some inside scoop on the return of Supernatural. Not to mention we’ll be podcasting our asses off.

Hey Gang, I’m here in Los Angeles now. I spent my whole flight watching a marathon of Make Me a Supermodel and the premiere of last night’s Top Chef Chicago! It was fantastic and passed the time like crazy. God, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… i want to do dirty bad and possibly illegal things to Perry Ullmann from Supermodel. Damn that boy is fine! Check this screengrab from tonight’s all new Big Easy episode.

I don’t think anyone had a hard time spotting the queer sitting in 16D after 6 hours of Supermodel’s homo-hotness. Too funny.
Anyhoo, I’m here and ready for bed. It’s late city and I’ve now been up for almost 22 hours. Must. Sleep.
As you know, GMMR and I are doing the Paley thing all week so you should foll |
