Paradise City is a new show on E! It’s seriously one of the most pointless and vapid things to grace a television in years and so far I love it! I’ve only seen the pilot (watched it at lunch) and while I despise the whole concept of the show and the majority of the characters, I do have a couple kudos and observations.
People from Vegas are not and cannot become Celebutantes. They will always in some way be trashy Vegas. Stripper Vegas. Rocker Vegas. Casino Hash Slinger Vegas, etc. Why we need a show about these wannabe’s is beyond me.
I say I enjoy the show only because there are a couple redeeming characters in this big mess of Real World-ish staged reality. I like Greta, the girl from Vegas with dreams of moving to LA. She doesn’t seem fake and phoney. I kinda want to see her succeed and kick that Playboy bunnies ass that’s going after the same man. I want to see her get the frak out of Vegas and create a real life for herself. She’s completely aware of the Vegas stereotypes, the backstabbing, the dirty deeds and she points them out. She ain’t playin’!
Now here’s my real reason for writing this post. Paradise City has two previous reality show contestants on it and they don’t seem to be promoting it at all.
The main star of the show is Jenner, a writer from LA that moves to Vegas to get capital to build her website and make it a profitable business. Jenner was the first girl in the pilot episode of that hideous show Gay, Straight, or Taken. I loved Jenner on GSoT, she’s such a perfect reality show chick. She’s great looking, has a wonderful personality, and a killer sense of humor. She’s not afraid to laugh at herself and she glows on screen. I love that she got her own show! Too bad there are all these other seedy individuals that I don’t want my Jenner to be around in it as well.
The other reality show alum is Rick, “the rocker”, who was one of the guys on VH1’s homoerotic show STRIP SEARCH!
It’s funny how they just pop back up. Is it sad that I recognize them both from other reality shows? It is isn’t it? I watch way too much television.
