We survived another snow storm and another podcast! This week, the TV Talk Podcast gives you our thoughts on the winners and losers at this years GOLDEN GLOBES AWARDS.

DAMAGES Season 3 is hot on our heels and we briefly discuss the first two hours. Patty, Ellen and Tom are back for a killer season of manipluation and a sharp game of cat and mouse.

The most satisfying news from the winter TCA press tour revolves around the timeline for the next two seasons of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

PROJECT RUNWAY returns to New York City and the reunion feels so good! Heidi, Michael, Nina and Tim Gunn try to make it work with a new back of 16 designers. We’re already in love!

AMERICAN IDOL kicked off another season and Ducky may or may not be back on the bandwagon.

It wouldn’t be a TV podcast unless we talked about the Leno/Conan Late Night Debacle. What a shit-show…

Oh and did I mention we talk about AVATAR? Why not!

We end this week’s podcast with some fun and games! Get ready for a few rounds of “Would You Rather”: TV Edition.

Another month, another sickness induced hiatus and not one but two surgeries later, GMMR and Ducky are back with a new TV Talk Podcast!

Your favorite carcasters are back to talk about all of the TV we’ve soaked in from our hospital and sick beds.

We kick off the podcast with the Season 6 finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Then we move on to the fall finales of GLEE and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

We sink our teeth into some TRUE BLOOD casting news then tackle the return of faves CHUCK and LOST.

MODERN FAMILY and THE OFFICE were Christmas fantastic, as were 30 ROCK and the increasingly brilliant PARKS & RECREATION.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and THE BIG BANG THEORY are always worth a good conversation as is the debate over THE GOOD WIFE.

What else is on tap? How about MERCY, IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, THE SING-OFF, SAY YES TO THE DRESS, HAPPILY EVER FASTER and LAUNCH MY LINE.

Did the right people win TOP CHEF and PROJECT RUNWAY? Who’s real pretty to look at and what’s our new TV Talk Podcast tagline?

Thanks for being so patient with our crazy illnesses and busy schedules. We wish we could podcast more regularly than we do and we think it’s amazing so many folks care about what we have to say regarding all things TV! You guys are the best.

Wednesday night’s episode of PROJECT RUNWAY 5 looks banoodles kids. It’s an eco-friendly challenge that sends Tim Gunn into a tizzy, makes him get all gangsta and even call someone’s garment out of the dark ages closet. Take a look:

Plus, this week’s guest judge is a surprise… Here’s a couple hints: she’s an always gorgeous, sometimes bad actress who has starred in some “beautiful” and “professional” films. She went to Harvard and her last name is a stage name. Take a peek and leave your thoughts:

Project Runway 5 Judges

Tonight my summer viewing schedule officially kicks into overdrive. Not only are summer staples So You Think You Can Dance and Big Brother 10 burning up my screen, it’s the premiere of Project Runway 5!

This is the first time all summer that I’m starting to feel overburndened by the amount of television programmed. I love that summer has become yet another bonafide season but I hate that every show I’m interested in seems to be jam packed onto the same nights. I’m not saying I have a solution or that programming on Friday or Saturday nights in the summer would be any better than what we’re presented with but damn, it makes me anxious to think about the number of shows I need to keep track of.

To give you a rundown, here are the shows I’m interested in and their nights. It’s banoodles I tell you, banoodles!

Mondays: The Closer, The Middleman, Weeds, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (though I’m totes behind)
Tuesdays: Wipeout, Big Brother 10
Wednesdays: So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother 10, Project Runway, Shear Genius
Thursdays: So You Think You Can Dance, Swingtown, Burn Notice, Fear Itself
Fridays: Doctor Who, Psych
Saturdays: Nothing
Sundays: Generation Kill, Mad Men, Design Star, Next Food Network Star

Surely I’m missing some shows and obviously you can tell I’ve already left some in the dust. My Boys and Kathy Griffin, sorry I’ll catch you in a marathon or on DVD, I don’t have the time. In Plain Sight, you just couldn’t hold my attention no matter how hot some of those leads are… sorry! I get brutal with the cuts in the summer and surely more will come. Just give me time, heat makes me a total raving bitch so I’ll leave a show in the dust without hesitation. Fate and Ducky are two fickle bitches!

Project Runway’s Season 5 Cast

Summer has officially become a television war zone in my house because I totes forgot PROJECT RUNWAY Season 5 was starting this week. I’m feeling over programmed already.

Project Runway Season 5 Premieres Wednesday, July 16th at 9pm

When Project Runway/Eleven Minutes’ Jay McCarroll Met Ducky

One of the highlights of IFFBoston 2008 was when I got to play host/wrangler/butt o’ joke to the always sassy but incredibly endearing Jay McCarroll and the directors of the documentary about Jay’s first post-Project Runway Bryant Park show, ELEVEN MINUTES. Of the 96 films we screened during the festival, this was one of the ones I was most looking forward to.

Having been a diehard PR fan since Day 1 and a champion of the documentary, I was really looking forward to how fun a night with Jay and directors Michael Selditch and Rob Tate could be. It was my last Intro/Q&A of the festival and I knew anything was possible.

After playing Rock Band (courtesy of our fab sponsor Harmonix) with Jay (myself on drums, he on the mic), threatening to shove drum sticks up each others asses and cackling, it was time to hit the stage. It was hands down my most out of control Introduction of the fest. Not only did it turn into a spectacle, it almost cost someone an eye!

I went on stage (for a crowd of 300+) and did my fest shtick then thought I was introducing Michael, Rob and Jay to help throw out some shirts and then giveaway Rock Band to one lucky audience member but when the curtains parted, out came my fest comrade and Ducky reader Nancy (aka falsemaria). We tossed out some shirts, Nancy pegged some girl in the eye then the curtains opened again and it was Michael and Rob’s turn to toss some goodies. It opened one more time and was Jay anywhere to be found? YES! This time Jay and fellow fest organizer Christine step out to give away Rock Band! The crowd was raucous and Jay only made them fall in love with him more.

After the film, we all took the stage for the Q&A which was hilarious. Michael and Rob were entertaining and engaging while Jay was self deprecating and a comic genius. While I won’t go into all of his thoughts on Project Runway, Tim Gunn, or his new QVC line I will let you know that he’d so tap some Duckster.

I believe the random quote went something like this: “Dan’s cute, I’d totally fuck him.” On stage. With a mic in his hand. Audience. Yeah… Who wouldn’t really. I kid. Jon might have a thing or two to say about that! That Jay McCarroll is one funny gay and I couldn’t be happier that I had the privilege of handling him during the festival.

Directors Michael and Rob were incredibly nice, funny, generous and kickass so I have no complaints at all. They’re working on a new docu-series for Sundance called ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL (premiering Fall 2008). If you get to catch ELEVEN MINUTES at a fest near you, I beg of you to go. You won’t be disappointed. The blood, sweat, and yes the tears that went into making Jay’s first show is mind boggling and I’m shocked any designer can get it together enough to show at Fashion Week. It’s one beautiful disaster after another.

Well gang, I know I’ve been pretty absent this month but finally all of the absence is about to pay off, for me at least. Last night was opening night of the Independent Film Festival of Boston, my other love child. Our opening night film was Brad Anderson’s TRANSSIBERIAN which stars Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer, Sir Ben Kinglsey, Kate Mara and more.

With over 800 people in attendance, it was a spectacular start to the fest and one I’m happy is behind us. It was a wild night, incredibly fun but a lot of work. Brad Anderson, Ben Kingsley, Will Conroy and others were in attendance for the film and did a great Q&A (check out some photos). Everyone really seemed to enjoy the film and having Brad back in his hometown of Boston for the East Coast Premiere of the film.

Alas, we’re far from over. That was just opening night, our easiest of the week. With 6 days to go and over 95 more films to play (almost 170+ screenings ahead) it’s go time which means no more blogging about TV until after the fest.

Tonight we have our Coolidge Corner Theatre premiere with WE ARE WIZARDS and a performance by Harry and the Potters. Saturday night, the documentary will be followed by not only Harry and the Potters but Draco and the Malfoys, The Whomping Willows and The Hungarian Horntails. It’s an evening we like to call WIZARDS ROCK! Oh yeah, the amazing Brad Neeley will also be in attendance.

With so many more things to talk about fest wise, I’ll only go into the one’s I’m doing introductions and Q&A’s for. Obviously tonight I’m doing Wizards (followed by BLOOD CAR – frak yes). Later in the weekend I’ll be taking care of Project Runway’s Jay McCarroll, Mary Stuart Masterson, Chris Eigeman, Famke Janssen and more. I somehow I drew a number of our celeb attendees this year. The other staff members are j-to-the-ealous… I kid. Everyone has amazing films they’re assigned to introduce and moderate.

It should be a crazy busy and fun week so if you’re in the Boston area come on out to any of our venues: The Somerville Theatre, The Coolidge Corner Theatre or The Brattle for some film fest fun.

I had to quick post about the news that Project Runway will be heading to Lifetime and leaving Bravo in the cold without even a fierce wrap to keep them warm. The Weinstein Company just signed a 5 year deal with the television for women net but NBC is going to make it hard to work. NBC has filed suit against Bob and Harvey with the New York Supreme Court because of some legal mumbo-jumbo or other.

What’s important in here is that I don’t even know what number Lifetime is on my cable box. I know that Bravo is 79 and that I love me some Bravo. I could watch it all day and IT IS HOME TO PROJECT RUNWAY. Don’t get me wrong, I like change, but I don’t know that moving cable’s highest rated show off its original network is going to do much to boost it’s profile.

I’m annoyed.

Honestly, Amy Poehler as Christian Siriano, Project Runway 4 winner is F-I-E-R-C-E! Bill’s version of Tim Gunn is pretty great as well. Amy Adams as Heidi Klum is a hot tranny mess though! I can’t stop watching this video.

God I heart these two more than I heart kitties or sesame tofu.

Christian Siriano Wins Project Runway 4

Last night’s finale of PROJECT RUNWAY 4 was how should we put it… FIERCE! As I hoped, little diva Christian Siriano took home the grand prize and the love of Victoria Beckham. It’s just how I imagined it would be, lady!

Christian was such a bitchy queen in the beginning and I totes jumped to the early conclusion that he was a hack, a reality tv starved for attention hack but after the 3rd or 4th challenge, maybe even when he teamed up with Chris March, I realized I was wrong. The kids got mad skills! From that moment on, I was in love with the little beetle.

I have a feeling that very few people can get away with sassing Tim Gunn or even better, calling him “Lady” and for this I heart the relationship between these two. Tim obviously saw something in Christian and identified with his flair and fell in love. Watch those two week in and week out was one of the highlights of the season for me. The man started saying “Fierce” for the love of couture, that’s huge considering the man usually chooses to express himself with words like “Consternation” and “Circuitous”.

Send Tim and Christian on some kind of road trip or adventure and film it as a special for Bravo to air this summer because I’d be glued to my television watching these two bitchslap America.

Overall, everyone’s collection was incredibly rich and glamorous but I felt Christian’s had the most cohesive pattern and statement of design to them.

Rami’s work is dazzling and mind boggling but for reals with those colors? I kept looking at Jon and asking why on earth Rami chose those totally grody to the max colors from the 80s? I wanted to like, totally barf… for sure! Aside from color, the collection was great.

I was a little shocked actually to see Jillian come in 3rd. While I agree that her collection was all over the map, I thought some of her pieces were drop dead gorgeous and could see them in stores tomorrow. I really wanted good things for Jillian. She originally rubbed me as this stuck up rich girl but after a while I started to adore her and after seeing that she’s a totes Long Island Lolita, I wanted her to have the money. Plus, she had Jaslene in her show and that bitch was her best model! Alas, that’s not how it shook down.

Christian Siriano won Project Runway 4 and I’m happy this morning. Boy was fierce!

While the strike may be over, we are still weeks away from most of our favorite shows returning to the air in limited new episodes. In the meantime we are saddled with a ton of reality shows like American Idol, Big Brother 9, Survivor, and Project Runway. Don’t worry though, we still have plenty of time to talk about Lost and newbies like Eli Stone and Unhitched. Plus, Kath gives you an update on where she is in the process of watching all 7 seasons of Buffy before the end of March. Good times.
