Being the horror/sci-fi loving homo that I am, I always look forward to the Spike TV SCREAM AWARDS. You’re mixing blood, gore, splatter porn and sci-fi geekiness with a red carpet and awards show… it’s soooo up my alley!

At 10pm tonight, Muse, Tricia Helfer, Stephen Moyer, Alan Ball, Johnny Depp, Liv Tyler, Megan Fox, Katee Sackhoff, Taylor Lautner, Quentin Tarantino, Tobey Maguire ,the cast of The Big Bang Theory, J.J. Abrams, Harrison Ford, Keith Richards, Morgan Freeman, William Shatner and more will grace the stage and present the best in horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comics.

If you don’t feel like staying up late to see the goths in the audience or to see the horror that is Isabel Lucas’ eyebrows and just want to know who won, check out the list of winners after the jump… (more…)

Ducky’s Ever Changing Comic-Con Schedule

For those of you not going to COMIC-CON this year, consider yourselves lucky because if you knew the anxiety and rage the scheduling has caused me and my fellow TV Bloggers, you’d be fine just staying home. There are so many TV panels this year and so many things I want to do that either overlap each other or run too close to ever hope of getting in, so trying to decide what to see is like Sophie’s Choice up in this place.

Here are the panels I’m interested in attending and as you’ll see, it’s nearly impossible to attend half of the things I’m excited about.

*Item’s in BOLD are panels I’m currently planning on seeing but I promise you, it will change before leaving next week.

4:00-5:00pm Buffy the Musical

Do you see how agonizing it is to try and plan your days? Saturday is seriously OOC and I’m sure many decision will change in the spur of the moment. What you don’t see on here are the parties we’re RSVP’d for and the Press Rooms we’re hoping to do as well. Add press rooms for most shows on Saturday and you’d have to have 3 Buffy Bots to help you cover it all.

Regardless, I’ll be there with many blogger friends and we’ll be podcasting every day and recording as many panels as possible to post here on Ducky Does TV so stay tuned!

We threatened to never do another TV Talk Podcast if you didn’t flock to iTunes and leave us comments… well I’m happy to report that you love us as much as we love you! Thanks to your generosity, we are back and this week’s podcast is a lot of fun!

We revise our thoughts on Swingtown now that we’re both completely caught up (and loving it), we talk about my chat with Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and her stint on Burn Notice plus some scoop on her new Fox pilot Inseparable.

Next we tackle one of the most talked about Fall pilots, J.J. Abrams FRINGE! Kath and I will review the plot, the mystery and the hotness that is Josh Jackson but don’t worry we don’t spoil anything for you! We’re good like that!

Then it’s time for some listener emails because you guys are cramazing!

Who wants to talk Comic-Con? No? Tough because we run down the shows that will be in San Diego and vent our frustrations over the scheduling. If you’re going to be in town for Comic-Con and you’re a reader or listener, let us know… we’d love to see you!

Before wrapping up this week we have a little fun with our TV version of F, Marry, Kill! That’s right, we each pick one we’d boink, one we’d marry and one we’d go Dexter Morgan on. join in the fun and leave us some comments about who you’d F, Marry and Kill based on our choices. We’ll read some of them on the air in our next podcast.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Season 4 Promo Photos - Full Cast

Let me tell ya, I picked the right day to call in sick! Just a minute ago, a lovely Fed Ex man delivered me the season premiere of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Season 4!

Frak me!

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Season 4 Promo Photos - Full Cast

It’s Friday and that means we are just one week away from the premiere of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Season 4! In order to get everyone frakkin’ excited, Sci-Fi is running two half hour specials tonight.

At 10pm EST you can catch Battlestar Galactica: Revealed which will catch you up on the past three seasons. BSG creators Ron Moore and David Eick will play host (what, no Mrs. Ron?).

Then at 10:30pm EST we can hear from celebs like Brad Paisley, Seth Green, Joel McHale and others about the “Phenomenon” of Battlestar and its impact on pop culture.

*Check out the latest Season 4 Photos. Catch up on Seasons 1-3 in 8:18. Did you miss the cast on Letterman? Check it out.

I’ll be Tivo’ing it because I’m going to be in the middle of scheduling hell for our film festival which is now just a few short weeks away.

Jamie Bamber And That Damn Towel

With Starbuck back from the dead, will she lead the remaining members of the colonies to Earth or to their final destruction? Who’s the final cylon? Why is there a new version of 6? Why is Lee Adama so frakkin’ hot? It’s time for us to find out.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s Final Season (4) begins April 4th, 2008. Leading up to the premiere we’ll be treated with a two specials that are not to be missed.

Here is the Press Release announcing BSG’s return:

The wait is finally over for Battlestar Galactica fans. SCI FI’s Emmy and Peabody Award-winning original series returns for its fourth original season on Friday, March 28 @ 10pm ET/PT with two back-to-back half-hour specials. The first new episode will premiere the following week, Friday, April 4 @ 10pm ET/PT.

Battlestar Galactica: Revisited (10pm) will serve up the essential information on the series’ past three seasons, providing the uninitiated with an introduction to the characters, relationships and spine-tingling drama that have captured the imagination of audiences around the world. Galactica’s executive producers, Ronald D. Moore and David Eick serve as guides, providing insights and revelations about the critically-acclaimed series.

Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon (10:30pm) is a celebrity-studded celebration of the show’s impact on pop culture. Interviewees, including Seth Green, country music’s Top Male Vocalist of 2007 Brad Paisley, and Talk Soup’s Joel McHale, and others, wax poetic about why Battlestar Galactica is one of the best frakkin’ shows on television.

As season 4 opens, the last remnants of humanity continue their search for a new home, the thin line that separates them from the rapidly evolving Cylons is being redrawn. Galactica’s crew, rocked by Starbuck’s sudden and mysterious return from the dead – and her claims that she has been to Earth and can lead them there – attempts to make sense of the inexplicable. Meanwhile, four members of the fleet are still reeling from the revelation that they are Cylons and have been all along.

WGA Strike Signs
DECEMBER 14th 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

BOSTON TV FANS AND WGA WRITERS dust off your picket signs, your sandwich boards, your megaphones, and walking sneaks because it’s time for us to throw down Boston style! The Browncoats, the Sci-Fi geeks and the intellectual humorists will descend upon Cambridge to support the striking writers.

From Jamie Paglia (Sci-Fi’s Eureka):

We are planning the event for Friday, December 14th from 12 noon – 3 pm. There will be an assembly of writers, fans (and potentially celebrity guests!) at the distinguished public affairs program Cambridge Forum in the Meeting House of the historic First Parish (Unitarian Universalist) Church, 3 Church St., Cambridge, MA 02138. There, guest speakers (which so far include Joss Whedon, Rob Kutner with a few of his Daily Show crew, and myself) will say a few words of thanks to our fans and talk about the cause they’re supporting. Once we are sufficiently pumped up, everyone will march with picket signs and pamphlets through Harvard Square to a rally outside of the famed Harvard Lampoon building, where so many great television comedy writers cut their teeth. It will offer a chance for Boston fans and writers to walk side by side, show the media and AMPTP that we’re galvanized in our cause, and we’re growing. We know our position is just, and we’ll keep adding similar demonstrations in cities across the country until we get a fair deal. (In the event that an agreement between the Guild and the AMPTP is reached prior to the rally, we’ll simply change the focus to a celebration of the resolution.)

Your job is to show up and bring your friends! We want fans of all shows and films in attendance. We wouldn’t be here without you and we want to show the studios and networks that our fans are a force to be reckoned with. So get on the fan boards and spread the word.

Ducky will be there and I’m hoping my girl GMMR will be as well. Will you join us?

I didn’t nearly see enough television last night but in this case, it was for good reason. We had Christmas Surprise Night with our friends Kathy and Andy which involved a baby wearing a Mother Sucker shirt and a blonde mullet wig. Good cheer for all! But that meant I wasn’t home until after 10 last night so the catch up didn’t happen as much as I wanted it to.

Ron and Daughter

I did manage to catch most of THE AMAZING RACE and I might have to report that it put me on Santa’s naughy list. I sat there waiting begging for two disasters the whole episode. I wanted that twunt blonde in the back seat to get plowed by the oncoming bus (reminiscent of last week’s Chuck or the Bionic Woman pilot) finally putting her family and friends out of the misery they feel knowing she’s alive.

The second fateful disaster I was hoping for was the ever looming hernia! God, I just wanted him to fall off those stilts like I want presents under the tree. With all my might I crossed my fingers and burned some sage that Ron would fall from on high and that sucker would bust out of his side. Well, he keeps talking about it like he’s ready to give birth any episode so let’s get it over with all ready. If it doesn’t erupt before they’re Philimated I will not be well.

TIN MAN on Sci-Fi (Kathleen Robertson and Zooey Deschanel)

Last night was the premiere of Sci-Fi’s TIN MAN and I only saw about 30 minutes of it before I had to force myself to go to bed for fear of hallucinations much worse than DG’s having. Did you guys like it? I hope to catch up tonight but I have to tell you all now that there is no chance in hell of me watching all 6 hours in an orderly fashion. It’s going to be the end of the weekend before I finish this epic miniseries.

Just a quick early reminder that tonight at 9 p.m. TIN MAN (part 1 of 3) begins on Sci-Fi… you know, the channel that gives us Battlestar!

Also, don’t forget to enter to win my TIN MAN board game and comic prequel giveaway.

Ducky’s TIN MAN Board Game and Comic Giveaway (5)

Follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road, follow follow follow follow… you get the idea, right? Sci-Fi’s mini-series TIN MAN, the re-imagining of The Wizard of Oz, premieres this Sunday, December 2nd at 9/8c and continues Monday and Tuesday nights.

I have a great giveaway in honor of the premiere, the exclusive TIN MAN custom board game as well as a copy of the prequel comic. Okay, it’s no flying monkey but really who wants to deal with the whole monkey crap thing anyhow?

To tide you over until Sunday’s premiere, here is a primer/behind the scenes video from Sci-Fi’s TIN MAN.

*And just to clear up any confusion, I am not offering the same giveaway as TVSquad so no iPod Nano’s for you all. No, I didn’t keep them for myself either.

TIN MAN on Sci-Fi (Kathleen Robertson and Zooey Deschanel)

This December Sci-Fi will be launcing their modern retelling of The Wizard of Oz called TIN MAN. This is not your childhood Oz either folks, this version is darker, skankier, and hella modern. Oz is not longer called Oz, it’s The O.Z. (The Outer Zone) and Dorothy Gale goes by D.G. Welcome to The O.Z. Bitch!

Zooey Deschanel and Alan Cumming Interviews

BuddyTV is reporting that after this past weekends Dragoncon, the rumor is that BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will split its final season into two parts.

Several of Galactica’s actors were on hand this past weekend for the annual Dragoncon convention. At the panel, the actors lamented over Sci Fi’s inability to properly handle authentic hit programming, punctuating the point by revealing that the Sci Fi channel plans to cut the final season of Battlestar Galactica into two ten episode seasons, one to air in 2008, and the other in 2009.

Is it a joke or is it the real deal? I’m okay either way. I just love the show and want it to end on a high note. If that means I have to wait another year or six months to see those final episodes, I’ve got no issue with that.

What do the three panels listed above in the subject header have in common? They’re the three panels I got shut out of last Saturday while at Comic-Con. Some of you already know the story but many of you probably do not, so here goes.

Pushing Daisies was having their early bird special screening at 9:15am and you know I love me some Pushing Daisies so I couldn’t miss that. I knew going into it that I would probably have to sacrifice Bionic Woman but it was something I could live with. Daisies was over by 10:30 so that gave me 2 hours to get in line and get into Ballroom 20 for Heroes. Ballroom 20 being our home for the next 7 hours.

We left Pushing Daisies in a haze (the joys of Bryan Fuller and Lee Pace can do that to a guy) and stumbled over to Ballroom 20 to get in line. I kid you not when I tell you that B20 was already packed to capacity and the line to get in wrapped a good 4000+.

Shocked, Rae, Kath, Thomas and I filed into line and sulked. The line was so long and we just knew that everyone in the hall already was either there for Heroes or Joss Whedon so the likelihood of a mass exodus was slim. After about 20 minutes, the line didn’t move and we had to make a drastic decision. Stay in line at numbers 4000, 4001, 4002, and 4003 where we may or may not get in sometime before the place closes or head downstairs to see the Pushing Daisies folks in line and chat with our Warner Bros. folks and then see the other panels of interest that we would have missed by setting up shop in B20 all day.
