Kath and Dan are back with a regular TV Talk Podcast about all things summer TV and vampire! That’s right, we’re vamp crazy so there’s plenty of talk about TRUE BLOOD, BEING HUMAN, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and more.

Also on tap, BIG BROTHER 11, NURSE JACKIE, ENTOURAGE, WAREHOUSE 13, REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA, GREEK, PSYCH, SKINS plus an update on PROJECT SUPERNATURAL.

If that’s not enough, we talk about the best pilot on The CW you WON’T see this fall and we want answers as to why.

While it still saddens me that I missed the chance to be in the press room, inches away from Mischa Collins, I’m happy that my friends at The CW have some video to share. Check out two videos from SUPERNATURAL’s 2009 Comic-Con stint.

SUPERNATURAL premieres Thursday, September 10th on The CW!

Paris Hilton guests on Supernatural

Yesterday afternoon, I was on the subway heading over to see GMMR and when I got above ground my Twitter was all a flutter with gossip that Paris Hilton was going to be on SUPERNATURAL.

After I peeled myself off the hood of an oncoming pickup truck, I quick shot an email to my Warner Bros. rep wondering if this shit was for real. Well whether we like it or not gang, the dumbest heiress in the world will be spreading her legs and opening that perty little mouth for something other than a sex tape.

This morning, Mo Ryan from The Chicago Tribune posted quotes from creator Eric Kripke and Exec. Producer Sara Gamble:

“If anyone ever wanted to see a bloodthirsty Paris attack and kill somebody, this is your chance,” said Kripke, who added that he was “quite frankly shocked that Paris agreed to do it.”

“We wrote the role just for her,” Gamble said. “We’re very excited that she said yes. She plays the role of a demonic creature that takes the form of… Paris Hilton. If you know our style, you know we go pretty funny and irreverent with this stuff, so–expect that. The fact that she wanted to do the episode speaks volumes about her sense of humor. She’s flat-out awesome for playing along. You’ll see.”

I’m not gonna lie, I hate the idea of her coming on as a casting stunt but I never once, not for a single demon second questioned that Kripke would knock it out of the park. I mean, we’re talking about a show that had an episode entitled: “Criss Angel is a Douchebag” – they’ve got a wicked sense of humor and I love them for it. Plus, the reaction that Dean will have to something like Paris Hilton is worth every second we have to endure. So in other words… can’t wait!

So here’s to hoping that demon whore gets the what for in Episode 5, Season 5 of SUPERNATURAL!

If you’re not a fan of our SYTYCD podcasts, then you’re in luck! This week we’re back with a regular TV Talk Podcast with GMMR and Ducky. We decided to dedicate a lot of time to our other favorite summer obsession, TRUE BLOOD. We talk all things vamptastic and if you’re a fan of the show we’ve got questions we need answers to so pay attention and leave comments.

Next up is BIG BROTHER 11. After that, we talk a little bit about the amazing return of TORCHWOOD: CHILDREN OF EARTH and its shocking 5 night mini-series.

Last, we talk about all things COMIC-CON 2009. What panels we missed (CHUCK, BIG BANG THEORY, GLEE, LOST, DOLLHOUSE, SUPERNATURAL and more), which shows had the most impressive online presence and all the news/gossip that came out of the con.

After last year’s Comic-Con I was worn out, my flight to and from San Diego had been canceled and rescheduled, I was ready to slap anyone wearing a costume and I may or may not have made a commitment then and there to not attend this year. My partner in crime, Kath from Give Me My Remote felt the same way and so we went about our year not planning on returning to San Diego for 2009.

When I was laid off, the decision seemed like perfection. I would have less money for one and if I got a new job, chances were it would be closer to the Con and I wouldn’t have the time off available to me that I’ve had in the past. Obvious, right?

Flash-forward to the middle of July and I start regretting my decision. I’m still unemployed and with the Press Pass and a probable free flight I started wondering why the frak I didn’t go. The answer was simple though, I was competing in my first triathlon and that was Comic-Con weekend. It was a distraction for the actual weekend but not the time leading up to and during the start of SDCC09.

Once all of my blogger friends, PR folks from the networks and shows started plotting their schedules, the interviews, the press rooms, etc. I really started to have mini-panic attacks that I would be missing out on all the fun and yes, even the chaos.

Here are the things I’ll have missed most about not having been at Comic-Con this past weekend:

  • My friends/comrades in all things Con (esp. Rae, Amrie, Holly, Winson, Susan, Jen G. and my girl Moira)
  • Being in a hotel for 5 nights but only for a couple hours of sleeping and lots of laughing our asses off.
  • Our annual trip to Bucca!
  • The Press Rooms (its always fun to have some alone time with my fave TV stars/writers/creators)
  • People watching, esp. seeing all the people in costumes!
  • Making fun of people!
  • Eating only one not-so-square meal a day
  • Jockeying for positions (though I don’t miss that at the same time)
  • Walking the floor or rather hanging out atop the floor in the WB lounge.
  • The GLEE panel and my chance to rape Cory Monteith’s face!
  • Seeing David Tennant at the Doctor Who panel. The one year I don’t go his ass shows up…
  • The Torchwood panel
  • The True Blood panel (after last years snore fest, I hear this year was much better)
  • The Supernatural panel and meeting Mischa Collins (I will always regret that one)
  • The Big Bang Theory gang (last year they were so fun both in press and panel)
  • Zachary Quinto (in any shape/form)
  • The Nightmare on Elm Street panel
  • The Prisoner redux panel
  • Jeffster performance and the Chuck panel (though I bet GMMR is more upset than I – seeing how she got a shout out and all)
  • Cheese Sticks
  • The New Moon panel (yes, I said it)
  • Waiting in that ridonk Starbucks line
  • The Middleman panel (and the hotness that is Matt Kesslar)
  • The Caprica panel
  • The final Lost panel
  • Obviously the list could go on for days but off the top of my head these are the things that annoyed me while I was at home all weekend. There are more online friends and PR people that I didn’t give a shout out to but I would have loved to hang with all of you as well and maybe next year we’ll be back in full swing! SDCC2010 or Bust!

    *sigh*

While I’ve always been a huge fanboy for The WB/UPN turned The CW, I have to agree with my friend Rae that maybe we’re no longer their key demographic. Looking at the Fall 2009 lineup makes me finally realize I’m a 35 year old man, not a 14 year old girl.

Gone are the days when BUFFY, DAWSON’s, FELICITY, POPULAR and ROSWELL ruled my television landscape. It’s now being overrun with new versions of the shows I grew up with and that means its time to stop watching. Sure there are a couple shows I’ll tune into (SUPERNATURAL and possibly THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) but my DVR is no longer set to record everthing on every night. Sad but true.

Here’s what the tweens will be watching this Fall:

    MONDAY
    8 p.m. GOSSIP GIRL
    9 p.m. ONE TREE HILL

    TUESDAY
    8 p.m. 90210
    9 p.m. MELROSE PLACE

    WEDNESDAY
    8 p.m. AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL
    9 p.m. THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE

    THURSDAY
    8 p.m. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
    9 p.m. SUPERNATURAL

    FRIDAY
    8 p.m. SMALLVILLE

*Check out video previews of the new fall schedule over at TV Week.

One thing is clear, my CW viewing schedule is relatively light and I’m not really complaining. Little known fact, I stopped watching GOSSIP GIRL over a month ago and don’t plan on returning. Dirty little secret revealed.

SUPERNATURAL Season 4 Finale - Sam and Ruby

SUPERNATURAL just wrapped up their best season yet and I can’t even begin to wrap my head about the twists and emotional turns from last night’s finale but I’ll try…

Last summer all I could think about was how Dean Winchester would climb his way out of hell and when I saw the Comic-Con footage after interviewing the boys (and the Ghostfacers), I never in a million years would have imagined a divine intervention. Listen to the entire Supernatural Comic-Con 2008 Panel

When the screener landed on my doorstep complete with a bible and a seal to be broken just to watch the premiere, I knew we were in for one hell of a season! Sam spent his summer brushing up on his demon powers while scouring the countryside with Ruby and that bitch Lilith began the cycle of breaking the 66 seals in hopes of bringing the pain. Along the way, Kripke and Co. proved that Supernatural would prove to be funny, entertaining and scary as hell!

We saw that the boys were a little different in High School (“After School Special”), we met, blinded and killed Pamela Barnes (RIP girly), Billie Jean proved she’s still a legend in the seasons creepiest episode (“Family Matters”), the boys found out they’re horror/fantasy/slash fiction icons (“The Monster at the End of This Book”), Dean got the Brother he always wanted (“Sex & Violence”) just before we met their real brother from another Mother in “Jump the Shark”. I never could have predicted that my favorite show would get even better 4 seasons in. Kudos gang.

We were introduced to God’s warriors, the Angels. Castiel (Misha Collins, hands down the best addition to the show aside from Bobby), Uriel (one surly bitch), Anna (glad to see the MAD woMEN working outside the 60’s) and Zachariah (the always awesome Brad Fuller) played and pitted the boys against each other as much as their demon counterparts. The various incarnations of Ruby, Lilith and Alaistair were menacing, relentless, sexy, creepy and in the end scary manipulative in bringing upon the apocalypse.

Throughout the season the boys were double crossed by both sides and ultimately each other. Tensions were high and the body count even higher. When it was all said and done though, SUPERNATURAL proved once again that two Winchesters are better than one (well unless you’re trying to raise Lucifer himself – whoopsy).

In the end, I was shocked to learn that Ruby was the mastermind behind Sam’s demon spiral and that she played that boy like a fiddle for a full year. I didn’t think she had it in her but obviously, trusting a demon bitch like Ruby bit all of us in the ass. I’ve never read the Bible and don’t know God from a Witch’s tit so maybe I should have seen it coming but holy frak, I couldn’t believe Lilith was the final seal and that Zachariah was down with bringing about another war! Quite the shocker for Sam, Dean and yours truly.

I love that Kripke and Co. didn’t shy away from betraying everyone, from having the brothers almost kill each other, from bringing the apocalypse and from raising Lucifer!

There’s been talk that Season 5 will be the last and I’m 100% down with that. The show is so kick ass intense and focused right now that I’d hate to see The CW force more than was intended from Kripke and our beloved Winchesters. I know it will hurt to see them go but wouldn’t it be better to end the show on a creative high and at the creators hand than a networks greed?

Think about it, embrace it and let the Winchester’s enter their hopefully final season as fucking legends!

*Also, just one last mention that Supernatural lost one of their family this year when Kim Manners passed away in January. He was an amazing Director and an incredible force on the show and continues to be missed.

SUPERNATURAL Season 4 Finale - Sam and Ruby

I’m in denial about tonight’s season finale of SUPERNATURAL. This season has been so spectacular that I don’t want it to end.

I don’t like that the boys are at odds when the season started with the Winchester’s working so hard to reunite and to be together. I don’t like that the demons have chosen Sam to fight Lilith and the angels have chosen Dean. I don’t like that they’re fighting the apocalypse from separate sides and with different agendas. I don’t like that

And when I say “I don’t like” I mean that I frakkin’ love it!

There are so many possibilities of ways to end this fantastic season of SUPERNATURAL and I’m not even going to speculate on how it will actually go down. I learned my lesson with LOST… my fears came true on that finale so I’m not even gonna project anything onto the SUPERNATURAL season ender.

Don’t miss the amazing SUPERNATURAL showdown tonight on The CW at 9pm! Can. Not. Wait.

My buddy Scooter McGavin has once again come up with a great poll for TV Bloggers to participate in. This time we were tasked with coming up with our Favorite TV Duos (couples, partners, friends, enemies, etc.) from the current 2008/09 season.

After some major Snapple Abacus action, here is the list we came up with.

    TV’s Top 25 Duos (2008/09 Season)

    1. Coach Eric and Tammy Taylor (Friday Night Lights)
    2. Liz Lemon and Jack Donagy (30 Rock)
    3. Sheldon Cooper Ph.D. and Penny (The Big Bang Theory)
    4. Jim Halpert and Dwight Shrute (The Office)
    5. Patty Hewes and Ellen Parsons (Damages)
    6. “Bones” and Special Agent Seeley Booth (Bones)
    7. Emerson Cod and Olive Snook (Pushing Daisies)
    8. Blair Waldolf and Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl)
    9. Shawn Spencer and Burton “Gus” Guster (Psych)
    10. Chuck Bartowski and Special Agent Sarah Walker (Chuck)
    11. Sam and Dean Winchester (Supernat ural)
    12. Marc St. James and Amanda Tannen (Ugly Betty)
    13. Barney Stinson and Ted Mosbey (How I Met Your Mother)
    14. Bill Adama and Laura Roslin (Battlestar Gallactica)
    15. Landry Clark and Tyra Colette (Friday Night Lights)
    16. Ben Linus and John Locke (Lost)
    17. John “J.D.” Dorian M.D. and Dr. Christopher Turk (Scrubs)
    18. Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton (True Blood)
    19. Jeff Patel and Lester Barnes aka Jeffster (Chuck)
    20. James “Sawyer” Ford and Juliet Burke (Lost)
    21. Homer and Marge Simpson (The Simpsons)
    22. Bill Adma and Saul Tigh (Battestar Galactica)
    23. Richard Cypher and Kahlan Amnell (Legend of the Seeker)
    24. Earl and Randy Hickey (My Name Is Earl)
    25. Michael Westen and Fiona Glenanne (Burn Notice)

Voters: Dan, Ducky, Kath, Matt, Sandie, Scooter McGavin, TVFan, Vance

I’ve gotta say that I’m pretty surprised by some of these picks, especially some of the rankings. Homer and Marge? Really folks? Welcome to 1989! How do you choose Barney and Ted as a combo? Sure I love love love me some HIMYM and I wanted to include Barney and someone but really there’s no good pick. He’s awesome with everyone but no single character is better with him than others… that’s just my opinion. Sookie and Bill? Honestly? Legend of the Seeker? Why not pick Xina and her dykey friend Gabriella? Makes no sense to me.

For full disclosure, here’s my Top 10 list:

    1. Bill Adama and Laura Roslin (Battlestar Galactica)
    2. Coach Taylor and Tami Taylor (Friday Night Lights)
    3. James “Sawyer” Ford and Juliet Burke (Lost)
    4. Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy (30 Rock)
    5. Michael Westen and Fiona Glenanne (Burn Notice)
    6. Booth and Bones (Bones)
    7. Patty Hewes and Ellen Parsons (Damages)
    8. Sheldon Cooper and Penny (The Big Bang Theory)
    9. Emerson Cod and Olive Snook (Pushing Daisies)
    10. Casey Cartwright and Frannie Morgan (Greek)

I know what you’re thinking… where the hell are Sam & Dean Winchester?! The truth is that they didn’t even cross my mind. Not once did my boys pop into my head and that makes me sad. I honestly would put them in the Top 5 but I spaced – sorry SPN boys and girls, I’m totally embarrassed. I’m also sad I didn’t include The Doctor and Donna (DOCTOR WHO), Capt. Jack and Ianto (TORCHWOOD) or even Trainer’s Bob and Jillian (THE BIGGEST LOSER). Given a Top 25 I would have included more choices and if I thought about my Top 10 a little better, it would be somewhat different but what can ya do?

How about you guys? Which TV Duos would make your list for the 2008/09 TV Season?

You have no idea how bummed I am that I won’t be able to watch SUPERNATURAL “Jump the Shark” on Thursday, April 23rd. Why you ask? Well, I’ll be knee deep in the 2nd night of The Independent Film Festival of Boston so I promise to watch at some point. In the meantime I’ll have to live vicariously through these preview clips.

*Please let this 3rd Winchester brother thing play out in a way that won’t make me want to throw my flatscreen out the window…

Check out some clips from Supernatural “Jump the Shark”:

I’ve been waiting for this very meta-SUPERNATURAL since I heard about it and I must say, it was well worth the wait!

“The Monster at the End of This Book” plunges Dean and Sam into an investigation where they’re legends of a sort… through a series of books based on their previous investigations. How do Sam and Dean solve a mystery that’s already been written and how do you possibly change an outcome that may or may not come from a higher power?

Here’s the opening of the episode and it’s pretty amazing. Check out the looks on Sam and Dean’s faces when the guy says “LARP(ing)” – it’s pretty genius but nothing is as genius as what comes 3:00 minutes in. Watch and die with squee…

  • Steve and Dirk, Sal and Dane
  • Dean: “I’m full frontal in here Dude”
  • Dean: There are Sam Girls and Dean Girls and… what’s a Slash fan?”
    Sam: “As in Sam/Dean… together.”
    Dean: “Like together together?”
    Sam: “Yeahhhh!”
Dean: “They do know we’re brothers right?”
    Sam: “Doesn’t seem to matter”
Dean: “Awww, come on. That’s just sick!”
  • Dean: “Right now I’m dying on the inside.”
  • Supernatural Tattoos
  • I love that Richard (Rob Benedict, FELICITY) is Carver Edlund
  • Chuck Shirley: “Is this some kind of MISERY thing?”
  • Chuck Shirley: “Did you really have to live through the bugs?
    Sam: “Yes”
Chuck Shirley: “And the Ghost Ship?”
    Dean: “Yes, that too”
Chuck Shirley: “I am so sorry. To live through horror is one thing but to live through bad writing…”
  • More of my favorite moments from “The Monster at the End of This Book” after the jump… (more…)

Tomorrow nights episode of SUPERNATURAL entitled “The Monster at the End of This Book” looks incredibly fun and remarkably meta. You can’t tell me that fangirls and boys everywhere wouldn’t kill for some Winchester romance novel action.

“The Monster at the End of This Book” Synopsis:
A VERY META SUPERNATURAL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are shocked to discover a series of comic books titled “Supernatural” that accurately detail their lives as demon hunters. They track down the writer, Carver Edlund (guest star Rob Benedict), who explains he has visions of the brothers that he then turns into comic books. Chuck reveals that Lilith (guest star Katherine Boecher) is coming and she has a plan for Sam. Mike Rohl directed the episode written by Julie Siege.
