Fall TV 2008: Monday Schedule
Ducky’s Fall TV Schedule - Monday

Just look at Monday’s will you? There is only one word that can describe Monday’s schedule and that is banoodles! How the frak is a TV lover supposed to live with the torture? The TV Gods love and hate Josh Schwartz because they’ve pit both of his shows against each other. Now that ain’t right.

I’ve been contemplating how the hell to make it all work but obviously some shows are going to have to take a backseat. I have to factor in my partner’s needs so the few shows that he likes take precedence. That means live on Monday nights we’ll be watching a good mix of what we both like. That’s what compromise is all about kids.

THE BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER will be watched live because we laugh our asses off at both sitcoms. I’m so excited to see Sarah Gilbert come onto BBT as a regular and seriously the anticipation of whether or not Sarah Chalke is the Mother makes both of these shows Must See TV.

The other show that I’ll watch in the 8 o’clock hour on Monday’s is GOSSIP GIRL. I know what you’re thinking… what about CHUCK? Well, Chuck is going to have to be a download or online viewing. Of the Schwartz-ies Choice, those Upper East Siders are much more entertaining for this big queer. No offense Bartowski.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES will also have to become an alternate viewing. I spent part of the summer watching the entire first season and I really enjoy the show so trust me, this was a hard choice as well. And that’s just the first timeslot of the night, oh christ.

At 9:00 I’ve only got HEROES. I cannot wait to see what they do with Season 3 and the whole Villians motif. The previews I’ve seen so far give the show a new direction and a renewed darkness… much needed after a very uneven and dismall Season 2.

Finally, I’m thinking of taking on the new action show MY OWN WORST ENEMY starring Christian Slater. If you’ve seen the latest preview, the show looks like great fun.

Can you believe that’s just Monday… the start of the week is scary enough to turn off even this dedicated tube viewer. Stay tuned for Tuesday.

Ducky’s Ever Changing Comic-Con Schedule

For those of you not going to COMIC-CON this year, consider yourselves lucky because if you knew the anxiety and rage the scheduling has caused me and my fellow TV Bloggers, you’d be fine just staying home. There are so many TV panels this year and so many things I want to do that either overlap each other or run too close to ever hope of getting in, so trying to decide what to see is like Sophie’s Choice up in this place.

Here are the panels I’m interested in attending and as you’ll see, it’s nearly impossible to attend half of the things I’m excited about.

*Item’s in BOLD are panels I’m currently planning on seeing but I promise you, it will change before leaving next week.

1:00-1:30pm Friday the 13th
4:00-5:00pm Buffy the Musical

Do you see how agonizing it is to try and plan your days? Saturday is seriously OOC and I’m sure many decision will change in the spur of the moment. What you don’t see on here are the parties we’re RSVP’d for and the Press Rooms we’re hoping to do as well. Add press rooms for most shows on Saturday and you’d have to have 3 Buffy Bots to help you cover it all.

Regardless, I’ll be there with many blogger friends and we’ll be podcasting every day and recording as many panels as possible to post here on Ducky Does TV so stay tuned!

We threatened to never do another TV Talk Podcast if you didn’t flock to iTunes and leave us comments… well I’m happy to report that you love us as much as we love you! Thanks to your generosity, we are back and this week’s podcast is a lot of fun!

We revise our thoughts on Swingtown now that we’re both completely caught up (and loving it), we talk about my chat with Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and her stint on Burn Notice plus some scoop on her new Fox pilot Inseparable.

Next we tackle one of the most talked about Fall pilots, J.J. Abrams FRINGE! Kath and I will review the plot, the mystery and the hotness that is Josh Jackson but don’t worry we don’t spoil anything for you! We’re good like that!

Then it’s time for some listener emails because you guys are cramazing!

Who wants to talk Comic-Con? No? Tough because we run down the shows that will be in San Diego and vent our frustrations over the scheduling. If you’re going to be in town for Comic-Con and you’re a reader or listener, let us know… we’d love to see you!

Before wrapping up this week we have a little fun with our TV version of F, Marry, Kill! That’s right, we each pick one we’d boink, one we’d marry and one we’d go Dexter Morgan on. join in the fun and leave us some comments about who you’d F, Marry and Kill based on our choices. We’ll read some of them on the air in our next podcast.

Comic-Con Warner Bros. Television

Hey gang, so I can now officially post what I’ve been sitting on for a couple weeks. Warner Bros. Television’s Comic-Con 2008 schedule is here for your scheduling needs. I’ve got Fringe, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Supernatural, Smallville, The Big Bang Theory, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles so get that iCal ready and let the conflicts and stress begin.

Friday - July 25th
10:15am - 11:15am: Big Bang Theory

Saturday - July 26th
11:30am - 12:30pm: Sarah Connor
3:15pm - 4:15pm: Pushing Daisies
3:30pm - 4:30pm : Chuck
4:45pm - 5:45pm: Fringe

Sunday - July 27th
10am - 11am: Smallville
11:15am - 12:15pm: Supernatural

So yes kids, that does mean that you cannot see both Chuck and Pushing Daisies at the same time. That pains me as both were two of my favorite new shows last season and both were two of my favorite panels last season. Aaargh.

I’m psyched to see that Big Bang Theory will be there and I will do my best to not molest Jim Parsons!

As for Supernatural, look for possibly both boys to also be there with their newest horror projects. Jared for Friday the 13th and Jensen for My Bloody Valentine 3D.

*Now if you also knew what I know about some of the other shows that will probably be there, you’d be even more stressed out about Saturday’s already ridonkulous schedule.

It’s Tuesday morning and I just realized that I missed two shows I normally watch. One being a long time fave and the other an okay while the strike is on acceptable newbie. The funny thing is, I so don’t care.

I just now realized that Sunday night there was a new Brothers & Sisters, to make it worse funnier, I apparently missed the episode before that one as well (and possibly the one before that)… who knew?! I kinda don’t care. I lost so much respect for so many of the characters on the show during this season that I really could care less if it comes back. Plus, when I think about all the stuff Jon Robin Baitz said about his ouster from the show, I can’t help but think how much better it would have been had he remained a creative force in the Walker storyline.

This is like how I lost all of my love for Grey’s… maybe it’s a good thing that I can sometimes give up on a show so easily. I used to die for Grey’s Anatomy week to week. I bought the DVD’s, I read the writer’s blog, I would watch youtube fanvids, I’d cry my eyes out and then one day I fucking hated the show and I was done. I’ve not seen a second of the show since and I have to say, I don’t miss it at all.

The newbie I’ve missed for a couple weeks now and don’t plan on getting back into is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I was all about the show leading up to its premiere and even the 2nd episode but then I got worried about the continunity and the acting and it was over for me. I’m not giving up on it completely though. I will say that if the show survives to see a second season I will watch the episodes somehow over the summer if I hear amazing things about them and that they warrant my attention. If not though, I’m not wasting my time.

Sadly, I did something similar with CHUCK. I love (yeah… I think I still love) the show and the actors and the action and the comedy and everything anti-hero that Chuck brings to the table but somehow when it went away for the holidays and then burned off it’s 2 remaining episodes last month… I didn’t watch them and it doesn’t bother me at all. Is that bad?

I’m Fickle Faggie, what can I tell ya?

The WGA Strike continues well into the Day 90s so the television landscape is like no winter we’ve seen before. Kath and I are back to talk about Lost’s return as well as the return of American Idol.

    Lena Headey Battles Depression

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Lena Headey announced that she has been battling depression for two decades and often considered killing herself.

    According to WENN:

300 actress Lena Headey has been battling depression for nearly two decades. The star of hit new Terminator spin-off The Sarah Connor Chronicles reveals the condition first struck when she was a teenager.

The 34-year-old Brit admits the blues got so bad at times, she considered suicide. She says, “I found the teenage years very difficult. My mum took me to the doctor, and he said it was depression. It was a relief just to know what it was. It comes and goes.”

Headey has managed to control her depression, without medication, and insists she only struggles with violent mood swings a couple of times a year.

She adds, “I don’t use medication because I’m worried about becoming dependant on it. When the depression comes it is very intense, and you can’t see beyond it.”

And her suicidal thoughts have dwindled: “I guess there have been thoughts in my head but not enough to do anything about them.”

I’ve got $20 on November 2009. I kid, I kid! That was heartless. I’m actually very pleased to hear someone in the public eye willing to come out and talk about their issues with depression. More teens need to know that they are not alone and in this case that if you fight through it eventually you’ll get your own Terminator to play with.

Does Terminator Suck or Kick Ass?

While I’m really enjoying the kind of cheesy fun of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I can’t help wonder if others are as well… and why (or why not)! I think it’s a fun continuation of the film series and that overall it’s kicking some serious action ass for a television show. I like the ruthless nature of the Terminators and last night’s blood bath (literally) was so great! But at the same time there are some hardcore cheese factors that bring the series down to a level of crap like Hercules or Cleopatra 2525 (Summer Glau, I’m talking to you). I’m torn.

*Update: I added some thoughts into the comments section if anyone cares.

    So what do you think?

    Adamo Ruggiero Comes Out

Big Big News for all of you Degrassi fans — Adamo Ruggiero has finally come out of the closet as a gay man! Ruggiero has played gay teen Marco del Rossi on Degrassi: The Next Generation for six seasons so it shocks me a little that it’s taken him this long to go public with his own sexuality.

A couple years back I saw that Degrassi Unscripted where we caught a glimpse of Adamo’s personal life (including his bedroom and friends) which was full of tell tale signs of total gayness (from all female BFFs to wardrobe to music choices) so this has been years in the making folks. Kudos to Adamo Ruggiero you little cutie patootie.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles may be fairly new but they’re enrolling in Beverly Hills High for a little while. Check out the first picture of 90210’s Brian Austin Green in Terminator.

The WGA War rages on and this time the Screen Actors Guild Awards are being punished for aligning with the dark side. Some networks have decided not to financially back their stars’ attendance at the January 27th telecast. That means hair, makeup, and transportation will have to be paid for by the celebrities themselves. Oh how sad! You mean these millionaires won’t get more free stuff? I’m crying on the inside.

Want to know what the gays are watching this winter? Check out my Gay Guide to Winter TV 2008!

I’ve been super busy with work lately and have barely had a moment to catch up on the most recent Britney scandal (preggers again Brit, planned parenthood much?). I’ve seen some television over the past couple days but not a whole ton so I don’t have much to write about that hasn’t already been said.

Britney Spears Buying Another Preggers Test

If you caught the premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles you weren’t alone. Approx 18 million of you tuned in to see Lena Headey take on the iconic badass role and battles some robots. The premiere was action packed and gave you the sense of urgency and panic surrounding the Connors. The second episode is a little slow but in general I still enjoyed it.

They need to make Summer Glau’s Cameron a little less robotic because she’s borderline Vicki from Small Wonders and they need to steer clear of a romance between John and the toaster. Who else got excited for LOST when Penny Whidmore walked on screen? Back in his OZ days I would have said she’d done well for herself but Dean Winters doesn’t hold a candle to Lost’s Desmond. Is it January 31st yet?

If you want to see video of Terminator’s newest John Connor making a complete ass out of himself on the dancefloor, click here.

Last night was the premiere of American Idol Season 7 but overall it was pretty boring. I was happy to see the gang back and cracking jokes at each others expense, I was also pretty happe to see Ryan and Simon laying off the gay remarks. Oh there were some sad sacks attending the Philly auditions but nothing can top Crazy Sparkle Pirate Alexis and her inability to not flip the bird at the camera. Who died when she made up a new career? “I’m going for actressing!” Is that what each and every aspiring actress in Hollwood that’s busing tables is striving to do? Actressing? Genius!

I’m not going to lie, I got a kick out of watching Paula, Randy, and Simon either laugh their way through auditions or die trying. I was fearful that they’d lay into Temptress who has such a sad story (I mean she’s a linebacker for her high school football team, come on) but thankfully they had heart and made the best of the situation. The same can’t be said for their treatment of Paula’s stalker. What was that freak all about? This is why they have security on that show. He wanted to fillet up some of Paula’s skin and pretend he’s eating Funyuns.

There were too many commercials but on Tivo the 2 hours flew by in about 65 minutes! From Philly, only 29 young hopefuls made it to Hollywood. Tonight the journey continues and I’m almost certain it will be a bigger group of idiots than it was last night! God, I hope so. Click here to read my thoughts about last night’s episode on AfterElton.com.

If you’re not watching The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency I can’t really blame you. It’s not Pulitzer Prize winner fare but damn if I don’t love it. If you’re a fan of Janice’s from her days on Top Model then you owe it to yourself to watch this show (airs on Oxygen). If you’re a fan of naked men lying all over each other, rubbing each other down, and butt cleavage then you must tune in. Read my recap of last night’s episode over at AfterElton.com.

Tonight we have another episode of Project Runway to look forward to and I’ve got my fingers crossed that Christian can pull it together and stick around for another week. I’ll miss his hysterical commentary too much if he’s eliminated.

    Linda Hamilton Terminator 1

Last night I acted more like my age and less like the 90 year old man I sometimes have become and went to a party. At this party I was asked about the upcoming TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and whether it was any good or not. I gave my opinion (yes, it’s worth watching and the premiere is right on par with the feel of the films) and as people started talking I realized that there is a whole group of people out there that just missed the Terminator boat. Lesbians for instance are not so knowledgeable on the topic… who knew?

So that had me thinking; even though Terminator and T2 are huge movies would people not watch the 2 night premiere because they aren’t familiar with the storyline?

Here’s what you need to know in a nutshell. Sarah Connor (she with the hideous frosted mop top) was hunted down by a Terminator in the original film. He was sent to destroy the mother of the Resistance aka John Connor who in T1 was not even born. A Resistance fighter was sent back to protect Sarah and destroy the Terminator. Obviously they fall in love and bam, the Resistance is born.

Jump a good 14 or so years and Linda Hamilton’s gone from loser to bruiser! She could kick your ass and its kinda hot. That unborn leader, John Connor, is now a snotty teen with cool 90s hair and I may or may not have had a crush on him. I’m just sayin’…

Sarah’s considered a mental case (but with better hair) and while locked away she packs on some anger and a hell of a lot of muscle. She breaks out and tries to save her son from the foster system and a new type of liquid Terminator that can take on any form and basically puts Arnold to shame. I know it looks kinda lame now but trust me, the special effects were mind blowing.

The original Terminator (Arnold) is reprogrammed and sent back to protect John and Sarah this time around but they’re freaking out because last time you know… he killed everyone that got in his way of killing her. Understandable I guess. They get over it and the rise of the machines is averted once again.

Oh yeah, about that… there’s this whole Skynet business which basically is a company that builds the machines that eventually take over the world and that’s who in the year 2029 John and the rest of the resistance are fighting or something like that. I’m not a big Terminator geek I just wanted to share what I knew so sue me.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES takes place two years after T2. That’s all you need to know. If my blow by blow. in depth reconstruction of events didn’t make it all clear, here’s the movie trailers for Terminator, T2 and Rise of the Machines and it basically tells you all you need to know.

TERMINATOR premieres tonight and continues tomorrow night on FOX.

Hey gang, we’re gearing up for the premiere of Fox’s TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES this Sunday so I wanted to pass along some information on a special chance to meet the Cast and Producers.

    Details:
    Sunday, January 13, 2008 (2-3 pm)
LA Comic Book and Sci-Fi Convention
Stars Thomas Dekker (John Connor), Richard T. Jones (Agent Ellison), Summer Glau (Cameron) and Exec. Producer James Middleton.

Don’t forget, the two night premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles begins Sunday over on Fox and continues Monday night!

TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Premiere Party

Sadly FOX paid me no love and didn’t invite my blogging ass to Los Angeles for the premiere of their new series TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES but I’m not bitter because I’m fully loving this show. The pilot is action packed, full of great special fx, and Lena Headey is working it out - this is a good addition to the Terminator series.

Thankfully my blogging buddies Kath from GiveMeMyRemote and Daniel from TheTVAddict were there and reports are starting to flow in. Head on over and check out their accounts, their celebrity encounters, and reactions to the pilot.
