Ducky’s back from vacation which means it’s time for another TV Talk Podcast! We have almost 3 weeks to cover so make yourself some tea, get a snack and settle in for the soothing cackles and rants we’re about to sling your way.

We start as we always do, Monday nights. BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER continues to be the best damn double bill on television. CHUCK goes to the suburbs, tests his best friendship with Morgan and breaks up with Sarah, say what? HEROES hits rock bottom and Matt Dallas shows his rock hard… abs!

THE BIGGEST LOSER 7 pisses Ducky off and shockingly Kath watched! PRIVILEGED aired what may have been it’s series finale and is to be continued but when considering The CW renewed a bunch of shows already. AMERICAN IDOL continues to rock on while randomly REAPER returns.

TOP CHEF has a shocking finale while Kath gets a shocker as she realizes she missed DAMAGES last week mid-recap.

SURVIVOR’s getting ugly, Sweeps are in March, 30 ROCK gets political, AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW kills it and I might kill Kath for something she says about BURN NOTICE.

Over on Friday’s there’s FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, DOLLHOUSE and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA to discuss before breezing through Sunday’s THE AMAZING RACE because really you just want to listen to…

TWO IDIOTS TALK LOST!

Premise: From Rand Ravich (“The Astronaut’s Wife”), Far Shariat (“Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”), and David Semel, who directed the pilot of NBC’s “Heroes,” “Life” is a new drama about a detective who is given a second chance. Damian Lewis (“Band of Brothers”) stars as complex, offbeat Detective Charlie Crews, who, thanks to close friend and attorney Constance Griffiths (Brooke Langton), returns to the force after serving time in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

The cast also includes Sarah Shahi (“Rush Hour 3″) as Charlie’s skeptical, demanding partner, Robin Weigert (HBO’s “Deadwood”) as their hard-hitting lieutenant, and Adam Arkin (“Chicago Hope”) as Crews’ former cellmate Ted Earley.

“Life” is a Universal Media Studios production. Rand Ravich is executive producer and writer; Far Shariat and Dan Sackheim are executive producers on the series; David Semel is executive producer and director on the pilot.

Ducky’s Thoughts: I’ve actually not yet seen this pilot but I love Sarah Shahi and Robin Weigert. Damien Lewis I can take or leave, no issues there. Adam Arkin is always good for a solid performance yet I’m worried about Brooke Langton. Her stint on Friday Night Lights was fine, she did a credible job (and I’m glad she’s gone) but there’s still something so D-grade about her. That was mean.

Overall, I don’t think that LIFE is a show that I will watch. Plus, it’s in a rough timeslot, ya know?

I will be away from a computer most of the day everyday from Thursday to Sunday as I am out of town and will then be travelling again.

*Update: Saw Top Model and thank goodness Whitney got the boot.  She’s a gorgeous girl but seriously has the deadest photos of any contestant on any cycle.  Bad model, good looker.  I hate that I felt something other than disgust and disdain for Renee.  Damn the heart felt reunion.  While I’m at it, could these young girls have more children?  This ain’t America’s Next Teenage Mother!  And what the hell was Tyra wearing?  For reals…

Sitting in a hotel for 7 days will inevitably make you watch things like the first episode of Sheer Genius.  Sheer Crap is more like it.  Oy with the bitchy gays and the old faces on this show.  And I’m not just talking about Jacqueline Smith and the Shane (L Word) look alike hosting this thing.  I cannot get sucked into another show.  I refused (until next week I’m sure).

The Office was incredible this week!  I love how quickly it turned from Michael trying to prove a point to Michael truly being talked down from the roof of Dunder Mifflin.  Creed and the Great Potato Switcheroo was genius.   All of the betting was classic Office.  Love that Michael was the one that broke Darrell’s ankle.  Andy’s back, sorry Drew.  And finally there was nothing funnier than the Star Trek wall of Shunning that could come shunned or unshunned when needed.  Way to go Dundies!

Original post: I wanted to quick write and say that the finale of Friday Night Lights was incredible. It was moving, emotional, and heart warming and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

American Idol sent Slutty Scarnato home… finally!

LOST blew my frakkin’ mind! Hope to blog about that later. Unbelievable.

I don’t have a ton to say about it.  I’m glad its back, I’m glad I got to see my girl Alice.  I’m glad I got to see Helena in her prime – good god her not wanting that coffee refill was hysterical.  I loved watching Kit freak her shit out at the abortion clinic when the freakazoid pro-lifers came at her.

I’m posting what I put over on TVGuide yesterday. Sorry I’m reposting something. I’m so out of it right now – I’m pretty sick and my head feels like it could explode. Just know this. I’m a fan of The L Word and even though my girl Carmen is gone (though to cameo soon) I love the show and will stick with it. Now onto the repost:

I really enjoyed the premiere last night but I do have one major complaint… I WANT SHANE GONE!

I know it’s harsh but she is not a character that can be redeemed no matter how many little kids you throw at her. I was growing tired of her back in Season 2 and then Carmen came and I thought maybe finally she would change but as we saw in the finale last season… not so.

Doing coke, drinking and driving, sleeping with Sherry, and in general wandering the streets like the homeless she once was doesn’t make me like her any more… They have a great deal of ground to make up with Shane but goodness I pray for a good wildfire or something to take her out.

In lighter news… JANE LYNCH remains a god! She would make the best lawyer in real life. I loved her speech to Bette and Tina. Great scene.

Alice still remains my favorite character. She just has so much life and personality. I love how she’s taken Helena under her wing it will be quite hilarious I’m sure. I’m sad they seemed to just do away with the Lara storyline because I have also really liked Lara.

Marina’s back. Don’t care.

Jenny’s never going to be normal is she? I kinda wish she would gain some sense of sanity sometime. Mia Kirshner is incredible though.

Was I too harsh on Shane?

*Update: I just finished watching episode two where Shane’s Brother Shea goes missing and I have to say I missed the little bugger and I felt bad for Shane. Could I be eating crow?

The L Word

Tomorrow night those lesbos of much sex, drama, humor, and did I mention drama return for their 4th season over on Showtime.  It’s amazing to me that we are entering the 4th season of this completely and utterly queer show.  This at one point was the female answer to Queer As Folk but after the first season, The L Word kicked QaF to the gutter where it belonged.

The L Word Preview

The L Word has managed to reinvent itself each season in not only storyline but in cast.  There are additions and subtractions from the cast with each season and they’ve proven to be a show not afraid to off one of its central characters (Dana Fairbanks RIP).  They’ve overcome many of the lesbian steroetypes for the most part while still managing to show way too much sex to keep everyone happy without completely selling out the heart of the show.  At it’s core, The L Word is a show about relationships, family, community, and that L Word… Love.  Keep Reading…
