Tonight is the premiere of TNT’s new dramedy TRUST ME starring Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanaugh so I thought I’d just do a quick post reminding everyone to watch.
I really enjoyed the first couple episodes and if you’re sitting there wondering if it’s just going to be a 2nd or 3rd rate MAD MEN, don’t worry, they’re nothing alike. Sure each takes place within the advertising world, but trying to compare the two would be like trying to compare Battlestar Galactica with Cleopatra 2525.
Trust Me is a quirky look inside the competitive world of advertising where one bad tagline can make or break you. It’s a show heavy on the bromance but allows the other characters to live and breathe within the world of the main characters without feeling like obvious add-ons.
Griffin Dunne is kind of an ass but a semi-likeable ass. Monica Potter plays the female go-getter and this might be the first thing I’ve ever actually liked her in. She’s funny, smart, a little neurotic and not an instant love interest for either character. Oh and 24’s bad ass Nina plays Eric McCormack’s wife and she kind of kicks ass in this too!
I was pleasantly surprised by the first couple episodes so I hope you’ll give it a try.
TRUST ME airs tonight at 10pm right after the premiere of THE CLOSER on TNT
Give it a shot and let me know what you think.
