In honor of TWIN PEAKS being released today on DVD, I thought I’d share a horrifying clip from this show’s genius catalog. Sure it’s not really a horror film clip but noone can deny that there are terrifying and horrific visions from Twin Peaks.

This one combines one of my favorite Peaks moments, the lip-synch “Rock Back Inside My Heart” from Donna which then leads to Agent Cooper having one of his Tall Man visions as miles away Bob reveals himself to poor Maddy. It’s sad, it’s horrific, and it’s incredibly beautiful.

In less than 2 weeks we’ll be able to sit back with a cup of joe and a damn fine piece of pie from the Double R Diner while Dale talks to Diane on his little recorder, Norma bakes her pies, Shelly wipes up Leo’s spittle, Bobby acts like an ass, Audrey tying cherry stems in her mouth, Rhonette stumbling across the tracks, Donna, James and Maddie sing a little, the dancing man does his dance, Pete gets a spine, Lucy back-talks, Leland dyes his hair, the Log Lady strokes that wood, Bob crawls across the bed, and that sweet girl Laura Palmer washes up wrapped in plastic.

Alright TV fans, this is what I’ve been waiting for all summer, today is the day that I hope the world falls in love with a boy named Ned and a girl named Chuck. I’m talking about the premiere of ABC’s forensic fairytale PUSHING DAISES at 8pm.

Tonight you’ll be introduced to a world so visually stimulating you’ll feel like you’re eyes just had an orgasm. You’ll hear narration and dialogue that will make you wish you were a poet and you’ll be introduced to the coolest pie shop this side of The Double R from Twin Peaks.

I cannot emphasize how strongly I love this show and how much I want all of you to watch tonight’s “Pie-lette” episode. I’ve seen it almost 10 times now and still find little nuances that I missed with each of my previous obsessive viewings.

On OCTOBER 30th, 2007 TWIN PEAKS: The Definitive Box Set will be released and fanboys and fangirls across America scream with delight!

Annoyingly so, a VHS box set was released over a decade ago and while it was incredibly pretty when all put together in its case, it was incomplete. It was missing the pilot. The Season 1 DVD set was released in 2001 and still no Pilot episode. So you start the series with episode 2 and Laura’s already dead, wrapped in plastic yet none of that is seen.

It took another 6 years for Season 2 to come out but still no pilot! WHAT THE FRAK!

Almost 6 months later, to the day, TWIN PEAKS: The Definitive Gold Box Edition with PILOT will be released. While that is annoying because I just bought the Season 2 box set a couple months ago… this is what real fans of the show have been waiting for!!!!

You honestly have no idea how much Twin Peaks influenced my life. It was one of the reasons why I wanted to go to film school, to write, to be even more weird than I already was in High School and why I fell in love with David Lynch.

I remember watching the Pilot episode with my mother. It was the Sophomore year of high school (1990) and it was so arty and warped. I didn’t know what time period it was supposed to be and it was dirty and twisted and it blew my world apart! My Mom on the other hand was like, WHAT THE HELL?

When FIRE WALK WITH ME came out the fall after I graduated, I saw it 8 times in the theatres. OBSESSED MUCH?

I can quote you almost any line from any episode and the film. I still own the Hardcover original edition of THE SECRET DIARY OF LAURA PALMER. I have the cassette tapes of Agent Cooper’s recordings to Diane. I’ve owned the VHS box set, the import VHS and DVD’s of the pilot episodes, the soundtracks, the DVD box sets of Seasons 1 and 2. I have 6 books about Twin Peaks and the list goes on.
