World Series of Pop Culture
Last night after the semi-lackluster Reunion for Charm School, VH1 gave us a sneak peek at tonight’s premiere of The World Series of Pop Culture 2007. Last year, I was addicted to the show and funny story… I got to sit with a contestant that was eliminated from the first round in 2006 at my friend Libby and Stephen’s wedding.

While I think I know a lot about Pop Culture, watching this show makes you realize you barely know anything. I did fairly well on most of the categories and then all the sudden Pat gives out a question that makes your brain hurt. I also get stumped on easy stuff like name all of Steven Spielberg’s films. I go blank and can think of like 3 when in fact I know almost all of them. Sad. Those tie breakers kill me and that is where I would crumble like a little bitch on television for you all to see. Maybe next year a bunch of us TV Bloggers can create a team and go for the gold.

Of the four teams that played in Round 1, Motherboy obviously wins for Team Name alone. Gotta love anyone that can take Arrested Development to the game show level. Fat Guys in Little Coats were not that great but it was pretty damn funny to see the white guy not guess the Koreans from Lost (Sun and Jin) when his two teammates are Korean. Remo-Leen-Teen-Teen was like watching a real life version of the Brothers & Sisters game night debacle. They’re a little much, but hey one of them is single ladies so… Last was the White Russians and I just didn’t care for them at all. The girl’s category was 80s songs and her reason for not knowing any answer was that she wasn’t even born yet. Well why did you choose to go up and answer the questions you douche? Annoyed me.

I don’t have a ton to say other than, I love The World Series of Pop Culture, the freakish teams compiled, and the Host with the most Mr. Pat Kiernan. He’s geek sexy and he knows it all sitting up there on his thrown being the puppet master to teams of three two by two. Teasing us all with his knowledge and deep voice. Dork, I love ya!

Oh, and how fun is it to see some of the contestants from last season as correspondents with the teams after their rounds? Hysterical! The Cheetara girl is a frakkin’ genius! More of her please.

Finally, how sick is it that the final prize is $250k? That’s salada money!
